  1. I think the change in Grimbo came about roughly at the same time as he started to get a lift in a Merc (so he says). When he travelled on a bike he wasn't interested in exploring the possibility of such things as podcasts, e-books, etc, he seemed happy enough to be as ignorant of such things as the rest of us auld duffers. Hopefully he is not too far gone that he can be saved from abandoning us technophobes completely.
  2. I refer you to my previous answer. By your logic Carlisle is also in the Borders.
  3. My initial thoughts exactly but didn't want to incur the feminists/ pc brigade wrath.
  4. Some do it to wind you up Monkman, don't rise to it you're better than that.
  5. Well I was at a zebra crossing and you shouldn't have overtaken the other cars that stopped to let me cross.
  6. Well Grimbo, bedtime is probably the best time to read/listen to a book at bedtime and the good thing about listening to it on your device is that there is less chance of spilling your bedtime cocoa on a book. I'm a bit disappointed tho' cos I thought a man of your standing would already employ someone to read books to you. Well done anyway in your adventure to discover new experiences using modern media devices. I have often tried to listen to DID's but find my concentration wandering to mental images of Kirsty Young dressed in a short grass skirt with coconut shells covering her "thrupenny bits", which needless to say don't stay in place for long as she fans me with a palm leaf. She would be my perfect woman if only she played bingo.
  7. People who wear sunglasses when driving when it's not even sunny.
  8. Michelle Mone on Pointless last night. Hadn't seen any pictures of her for a while. WTF happened to her. She looks like she uses the same cosmetic surgeon as Michael Jackson did. She's still a wid but definitely went down from 9/10 to about a 5/10 and that's just cos she's loaded.
  9. Admittedly there has been a significant downturn in the level of younger and more glamorous ladies(?) available for potential rumpy-pumpy and I put this down to the increasing number of Bingo websites. More and more seem to be abandoning the traditional bingo halls to sit at home and play on-line. All the more reason to give the old souls that do bother to get out to the bingo that something extra to make their night complete. Grimbo, it goes without saying that you should always keep your "dabber" in good nick 'cos you never know when you may be able to offer it to a lady to use. Sometimes however the impressive state of your dabber is not always enough. One lady for example rejected the offer of my purple ended dabber as she said she always preferred a black dabber.
  10. Obviously not a pastime recommended for the squeamish but sometimes you have to look beyond the physical appearance and more towards the financial benefits of a cheap night out wi getting your Nat King at the end of it.
  11. Don't be so hasty to dismiss the possible advantages of a night at the bingo, heedy. Maybe not so much of the drugs and rock'n'roll but the bingo can be the Tinder equivalent for the slightly more mature to meet up for "friendship with the possibility of more". It's even better if you can acquaint yourself with someone who wins on the books regularly as they will be more likely to offer to pay for any drinks, meals, hotel rooms, etc. if you are not lucky enough to win. In other words a cheap date. Of course if you are happily married or set your standards too high, this may not be for you, but if you are unhappily married or not overly fussy about age, looks, etc then the bingo could have hidden advantages.
  12. And pray tell me what my job is/ was as you seem to be so knowledgeable. If you are a teacher then your eloquence does your profession proud.
  13. The wee buggers are hardly ever there now. Holidays, In-Service days, day trips, jaunts abroad, too windy, too wet, more than a half inch of snow and the schools are closed. I bet when they are there they spend more time talking on their mobile phones, sending "selfies" or bullying some poor sod and putting it on YouTube for a laugh as they do learning the "3 R's". Even when they are doing school work they have the help of computers, calculators, etc, not much brainwork required. As for the teachers, there are obviously some good, dedicated teachers but a lot of them are looking to get away from the school even more than the pupils are. It's just a job now not a vocation.
