Be a bit harsh if Steven Hammell gets the sack again.

Don’t top flight teams have to install underground heating anymore? Thought that was a rule in the past but no idea if it’s still a thing as we ditched the 10,000 and then 6,000 seats rule.

Looking forward to this one, Livingston not been playing well this season but you’re a division above us so could be an interesting match up. We’ve not had great success in the cups over there but generally put on decent performances so hopefully this time we can get the win, cash from the next round and a potentially big tie could really help us try and keep on DUFCs tails. As mentioned before it’s a free hit for us in this game and winning would simply be a bonus. Looking a decent away crowd let’s just hope the weather doesn’t cause issues.

Sad news about Bill Clark. One of the good guys, I’m sure he’ll be sorely missed. RIP Glad they’ve decided to do a minute’s silence for him as I really dislike minute’s applause for these types of things. -

Don’t understand people who are unsure at a chance of getting a crack at the top division after all these years if it comes about and I’d expect any Pars fans to call it “Wee Team mentality” . I like the Championship, it’s a great league with a lot of unpredictable results, good banter between fans and decent travelling supports. We like many clubs in Scotland have little chance of being top division mainstays, realistically the best you’re looking at is a few years adventure like Inverness or Accies managed we’re generally part of the furniture in the second tier with the odd trip out of it. However as a club if the choice is bouncing between the Championship and League One or bouncing between the Premiership and Championship I know I’d prefer the latter. Ultimately the aim of a club is to play at the highest level they can, yes top division football has its negatives. The arse cheeks and their fans, hard games with potential scuddings and a struggle to compete with far superior budgets but you also get more interest from the locals when your facing the better clubs, bigger crowds and ultimately more chance of actually competing to win silverware as very few clubs have won any while outside the top tier. Ultimately our crowds this season are up by quite a bit because we’re showing some ambition and as long as we’re not going to put the club at risk spending wise I’d happily have an adventure to the top tier for a season. There’s a long way to go this year and a good chance we’ll be here next season anyway. -

Thought O'Reilly was a decent enough player for this level although seemed a few of our fans got carried away with hyping him up imo, good luck to him except against us obviously he’ll do a job for Thistle, I’m not overly bothered losing him as long as we’ve got another player in mind. Would have happily kept O'Reilly but if we’re only offering short term he’s obviously not in Murray’s plans and I can’t blame O'Reilly for taking a better offer as he’s got to do what’s best for him as he was without a club before joining us. Won’t be easy to find another short term replacement unless Watson is back soon so hopefully Murray and Potter have some ideas. -
Rovers v QP 13/1/24

Absolutely ridiculous we don’t do more than 1 goal, if it 4-1 it’ll end 4-3. -
Airdrieonians v Rovers - 6th January
San Starko Rover replied to AllanJM's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Last away game I thought both teams were pretty poor but Airdrie were still the deserved winners as they took their chance well while we didn’t. This time around I thought Airdrie were the better side and played us perfectly. We really struggled to get in the game and Airdrie played to their strengths by making us play a lot of balls on the air. Thought the man of the match was Airdrieonians Right Back (is it Megwa?) had a cracking game and dealt with everything we threw at him down that side. Said on the half way thread I’ve been surprised at how well Airdrie have done but fair play you’re where you are on merit. I think we’re hoping you’re not in the playoffs as we can’t seem to beat you. -

We’re keeping that on the down low, Ian Murray isn’t allowed to over celebrate in derby games. -
Raith - Absolutely unbelievable Jeff, no idea what Murray is giving the lads and hopefully it’s legal but what a performance they’ve put in this season so far. Being a miserable bar steward I’m awaiting the inevitable collapse but enjoying the ride every game but surely second is our likely end. Dundee Utd - Pretty much what you’d expect apart from being second, they’ve dealt with everything they’ve been thrown and only lost one game which didn’t come until December. Expect them to do what Killie did and bring in the players to see them over the line in 1st place barring a Miracle on Pratt Street. Partick Thistle - Lots of off field problems that looked pretty worrying but have ultimately kept a decent squad. Seem to blow hot and cold but their results against the top two have seen them fall away. Should easily make the playoff spots and are capable of doing well in them if they’re on their day. Airdrie - I think everyone put them dead last in the predictions but fair play to them they’ve certainly shown they are here on merit and are chasing a top 4 finish, the one team that’s had our number this season with a win and a draw so far. Likely to be safe from the drop but in the mix for 4-7 spots. Dunfermline - Grinding the results out against the 4-10 teams but struggling against the top 3, won’t be happy that we’ve taken the points on the derbies but ultimately their aim like Airdrie is to consolidate their place in the Championship. Seem to have poor luck with injuries but should finish top half. Morton - Looked like League One was waiting for a trip to Cappielow a few weeks back but suddenly found form and are now climbing towards the play off spots. A team I’ve absolutely no idea where they’ll finish as they’ve gone from one extreme to the other from what I’ve seen so far. Ayr - Great season last year but lost their talisman, I think everyone pretty much expected a drop in results this year but they currently seem to be in free fall results wise and are badly in need of a win to reverse that. At the moment I’m sure the Honest Mens aim is to avoid the bottom two at all costs. Inverness - Looked utterly destined for the drop early days but changed manager to Duncan Disorderly which seemed an absolute master stroke as they went on a good run which ultimately was finished by us in our late goals tradition. Since then seem to be a mixed bag. Can’t see them pushing higher than 6th and their aim will be 8th or better unless they’re doing some business in January. Ultimately delighted we’ve finally beaten them both home and away after a few ice ages seemed to have passed. Arbroath - Rovers favourite away day, just shit it was midweek last game. Removed the legend that is Dick Campbell will it be the right move, I’ve absolutely no idea but their fans seem to feel it was the right time for Dick to move on. Like most seasons being Part Time the aim is avoid the bottom two spots. Seem to have improved of late and might want to consider play their Sub Keeper up top every game. Queens Park - Biggest disappointment for me as I had them to push for top 4 with the cash from selling Hampden but they seem utterly rudderless at the moment and desperately needing a win to try and get some confidence back in their squad. The less said about Lesser Hampden the better but they’re still not cut adrift which gives them hope.

Don’t think it’s really DAFCs fault if wee bams attack someone, the tough couple of days will be for them when the Police chap their doors. There’s always an element in every club. We’ve got our share and any Rovers fan claiming otherwise is full of it. The “Ultras” groups can do good stuff in getting the atmosphere going but as you say only takes a few to go too far.
-
Shocking to see and absolutely no need for it, sadly Wee arseholes will be wee arseholes and nothing screams hard men more than you and all your pals jumping one guy while one of your fud pals films it for likes. I’m sure DAFC will help to identify the culprits and hand out bans while passing their details onto Police Scotland. They’ll no doubt be greeting like bairns when they’re in the courtroom. Looking on X (Twitter) several of those involved have already been named and one has even admitted to it in an apology.

Well an entertaining game with decent chances for both to win it thankfully it was us who took the points. First, hope the lad who was stretchered off isn’t too badly hurt as it looked a sore one. Both sides had decent spells and spells where they seemed to totally lose concentration. Few decent saves by both keepers. Good crowd at both ends over 8000 is greet to see. We really needed a win after the last couple of wasted chances.

Rovers v Lichties - 30 Dec, 2023
San Starko Rover replied to TxRover's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Sounds like Scotrail. Got stranded in Montrose a while back when they cancelled a train. Station worker said it happens regularly as they get cash from the Scottish government to run extra trains, pocket the cash and then just compensate the handful of customers they’ve shafted. Hopefully the trains are running for the Arbroath fans was shite when they cancelled them on the Dundee Utd fans. -

Wouldn’t be stunned if the Pars board stuck with what you've got, you’ve just come up and are sat in 4th place. Doesn’t look like you’ll be in any danger of relegation and a decent chance of a playoff spot. Consolidation will have been the aim for the season. Save the cash for summer and next season possibly. -
