The SFA were behind the changes as they stipulated that there can only be one division at tier 6, so the Lowland League had to adjust the WOS It doesn't matter what the standings are of the ex junior west region, every team, bar Bonnyton were joining a new Association and league so the association don't need to take into account the standings of the ex west region leagues. You join a new association you fall into their rules. The lowland league wanted it to be 4 conferences with everyone on an equal standing but the SFA would have none of it. So the Lowland league tried their best to make the WOS structured under the constrains given from the SFA.

With the applications to join the development league finishing on deadline day, tomorrow June 11th, will there be any surprises joining from the East of Scotland League? The teams from last season are expected to reapply excluding Newtongrange Blackburn United, Dalkeith Thistle, Dundonald Bluebell, Edinburgh United, Hill of Beath Hawthorn, Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale , Broxburn Athletic, Camelon Juniors, Dunipace, Heriot Watt University, Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts, Musselburgh Athletic, Penicuik Athletic, Preston Athletic and been hearing the following teams are applying to join Edinburgh South, Glenrothes, Jeanfield Swifts, Kennoway Star Hearts, Kirkcaldy & Dysart, Tynecastle and Whitehill Welfare. This information about either 5 or 7 to be relegated has been well known for a while now Yeah Glens I agree with what you stated above. The SFA told the Lowland League there could be only one division in tier 6, even though the Lowland league originally thought they would be allowed to have four conferences at tier 6. The lowland league wanted every team, equal of standing from the 20/21 conference season to then have tier 6 at 16 clubs in the following season 21/22. As SFA told Lowland there would be no conferences in tier 6 so the Lowland league had no choice but to make a 20 'tier 6' league, with the 16 from junior footballs top ex West juniorleague and the 3 promotional teams from the ex West region championship league and Bonnyton Thistle from tier 6 of the South of Scotland League. In order to get back to a 16 team league, George Fraser stated that they hope to get back to this within a couple of years if not before. This means, quite simply, 20/21 season the 3 conference winners are promoted and either 5 are relegated or 7. if 5 relegated it means in season 21/22 there will be an 18 team league which again will have 5 relegated and 3 promoted to it and then its 16 team league. The senior clubs will get to vote on it either 7 relegated to get a 16 team league in the following season or 5 relegated for the two season to get to a 16 team league in two years. IS there any way to motion during the senior meeting of the clubs and the league, so that its 4 teams relegated each year until they work it out to become 16, might take an extra year and everyone will feel a bit relaxed about it, obviously the teams who will be relegated

kl, we've all done it now and then I get your views and understand them but that post threw me as I couldn't fathom what connection to Lowland Development league it had. The only thing is that the development secretary who is dealing with the fixture dates wont really make a difference to him/her as games for the seniors and U20s are on different days. I do suspect however come near the end of season when possible midweek games then this will make a difference and the development secretary will have to check the fixture lists of the seniors. Anyways I heard theres a zoom meeting on Thursday for the Development league with the clubs who have applied so far, on the day of the final date of applications to join.

am a bit lost, what does the West Region junior statement have to do with the Development league and proposed WOS U20 development ?

totally agree and understand, that's one of the problems that has to be addressed, its the same for most first teams who have a grass pitch with floodlights, do they allow the development team to use the pith the night before if its been raining or raining

I don't see there is any confusion The development squad is operated by the first team, and if the first team are having problems then they can fold the development squad so I'm sure before the first team applied to add a development squad to the Lowland league then the park would already be arranged.

We are all in this together and its just something we will have to deal with and eventually it will start, when, we do not know yet but we are all hopefully. The league will definitely eventually start, its just a case when and there's plenty of teams ready to start

This is a problem but the ones who can sort it is the first team, as people have to remember, the first team take the accolades of the development team and all the problems so if there is a problem the first team can fold the development team straight away. Too many coaches think its about winning. The question and answers in in the title, 'Development'. The development league is about developing the player and the coaches should be developing the person then the player. The league is not about winning but some don't care, that's fine, at the end of the day if you coach good football and the lads understand what is required and develop then they will eventually be challenging for trophies anyways and a good chance most of the lads may go onto a higher level

If they don't own the pitch then your talking over £100 - £140 as you have to book pitch for 3 hours, warm up etc... The referees are expected to be near £60 but referee fees have beene returned to club at the end of the season If all teams joined who applied then your talking 14 home games and 14 away games and most definitely an all in cup will be played

Agreed although there will be as expected and East region and a West region with two conferences in the East and two conferences in the West. As expected there is to be 3 cups but still to be agreed so I suspect they will vote for one cup to be all-in and also an East cup and a West Cup and possible two other cups, one dedicated to the east and one to the west. I don't think a development club can charge anymore than £2

I think the interest in the Lowland Development league will increase and because of this the league will know they have to become more stricter and I would expect the barrier criteria to be imposed constantly. In regards to discipline, has there been any teams thrown out of the league due to discipline problems

The bucket I believe is usually for teams whos playing on a public park, School park etc.. where they are not allowed to charge. Think in the grounds of senior teams then there will be charge but I believe its either £1 or £2 A bucket is actually a good shout I think

I did not see your post as a criticism just seen it as an observation. I think in time we will see Kilbirnie and Beith work more with a youth policy. Every team needs the right people in place to get it al up and running. Beith already have started as the coaching staff already know quite a lot at that level and know the importance of it, so once the Beith committee understand the plans then im sure it will take off.

To be honest Longtimelurker Its a big step for all junior clubs to leave the junior ranks and become a senior team, they have to deal with everything that's is new in the senior ranks and I personally thought if 5 or 6 teams from the West produced a U20s team in the first year then I'd be amazed as its a big ask but to have all these teams produce a u20s team in the first year is fantastic and the rest who don't will know if the Development league works out just as good at it has in the previous past few years then I'm sure many more will jump on the side of development football. I still don't treat it that as a bad thing just cause the Glenvale team are paisley but the team is run by the Darvel first team and committee, they are who in charge of the team and will be responsible for all matters. Tons of youth teams that have been running have lads from all over.

Even though East Kilbride are putting a team in the U20 league again its totally different staff and coaching team, so supposed classed as new Pollok have applied but haven't announced it due to one slight problem they have to overcome, which I'm sure they will. Kilwinning at the start made comments and speaking to two coaches in the youth set up of teams before the lockdown and a committee member that they intend to add a development team but I haven't heard a thing since. Largs again only gossip so far but been told privately that they intend to put a team up to the development league, but again nothing official Drumchapel U19s team who were mostly in their 2nd year 19s folded half way through the season but think there was a U17s but they have a good youth system so its anyone's guess. Glasgow Uni suppose, do they not need to see what students will be back to work out if they will have an U20 team or am I totally wrong with that one

Again, I don't think its a big deal. Everyone knows that they are registering with the Lowland Development League which is officially all-in but I'd say that as far as I'm aware every team believes that the development league will be regionalised to a East and West conferences, (looks like two conferences per area), as this is an easier workable project. Sometimes people have just forgotten due to the excitement of the league growing exponentially
