Any chance Dalbeattie will be competitive in the play offs? Hopefully so.

I was going to say Meadowbank Thistle, but they aren't listed

Can't believe Buckie are being written off here when they could go top if they win games in hand. Even if they drop a few points they'll be very close to Brechin

I'm no expert either but I'd say the LL did more for the development of Owen Moffet(?) than any of his subsequent moves have.
It's horses for courses. The benefits of the LL to the B teams are there. It's whether that is worth sacrificing the sporting integrity of the large for which IMO it isnt

Is that Irish Under 21 internationalist Rocco Vata you’re arguing shows how Celtic are developing players for the Scottish national team?
I thought he was Albanian to be fair. I'm not arguing for it. Just saying that in some cases it will help players. Doesn't mean those players wouldn't have done well out on loan etc. but isn't true to say it won't benefit the occasional player.

None of these scholarships appear to be compatible with the football team or other team sports?!
If you were any good at football by that age you would be signed to a pro team surely

To be fair Vata did score and he has played in the LL a fair bit

EN article does seem positive. Always had a soft spot for City

EKOK surprised you keep responding to this thread. Your assessment was pretty balanced yet everything you say is spun into something else. You'd think some of these posters worked for the sun.

It was an SPFL decision, not an SFA one. Annan applied along with four other clubs to replace Gretna on their demise. They were chosen ahead of Cove Rangers, Spartans, Preston Athletic and Edinburgh City based on the quality of their facilities. No club from the Borders applied.
Amazing looking at that seeing that three of those clubs actually made the SPFL

Ah well my memory failed me. Still think a trick was missed not admitting them at some point.

Also feel the SFA missed a trick adding the likes of Annan to the SPFL before Gala when the Borders has no teams at that level. Could have kicked things on for the region.

Where do EK get the money from? Is it a benefactor or are they really well run? Always quite liked them for some reason and wouldn't mind them going up

Caledonian Braves 2 - 1 GFR
Breadner (74)
McNeil (67)Smith (50)
Not the best result, but at least the club is up there fighting. Not long since people were saying GFR would end up third from bottom.
Hopefully they can stay in the league. The Borders has already lost Selkirk, Hawick and Vale if Leithen from the lowland league.

What happened to Clach? Since winning the league, admittedly a while ago, they have never finished higher than mid table. Was that just a one off fluke?

Bit of a statement result at Edinburgh City today.

A reserve league already exists, they should bugger off to that.
I didn't say it didn't I just said it was a no brainer

Its not beyond the realms of possibility that a team from Aberdeen go up or another from Glasgow. When Dundee teams start filtering through to the Highland league too

With Edinburgh now having 4 teams in the national leagues is this a sign that the pyramid is likely to see greater progression for teams.in the central belt and major cities at the expense of teams from places like Brechin, Berwick and Cowdenbeath?

Reserve team seems like a no brainer for younger players. Not going to come up against any first team players in the lowland league, much more likely in the reserves.

Let's not get too carried away, here. The Lowland League's been a two-horse race to the bottom all season.
I think a couple of other teams have upped their games, Gala for example.

As to the B teams, there are arguments on both side, ultimately the answers given will be filled anchored in bias one way or another rather than an actual reasoned debate.

Scotland have been shite in Europe since the 80s it's not the performance of the Old Firm it's the teams below that. None of them have done a thing for 30 odd years apart from one Aberdeen season under Jimmy Calderwood. Teams from other leagues with duopolies still perform from time to time but Scottish teams are an embarrassment

In 20 years time the SPFL will be fully central belt clubs with a few outliers. Clubs like Stranraer and Berwick won't exist
