  1. Will be going along to this game at Forthbank tomorrow, hopefully I will see the other team who play at Forthbank win unlike Stirling Albion so far this season. Com`on the UNI !
  2. Well we managed to keep it at 0-0 for eighty minutes until Dunfermline scored their first goal. The sending off of Craig Wedderburn a few minutes later did not help and the second Dunfermline goal rather summed up our afternoon. We tried hard but did not have much success up front. Hoped for something today but after they scored their was no way back for us. Fortunately for us results elsewhere means we still are in 2nd bottom spot 1 point ahead of the bottom team. Next week we travel to Greenock to play Morton and unless we can find something up front then I can`t see us getting anything their.
  3. Given the Albion`s home record and our start in League 1 so far I feel that you are quite right to expect Dunfermline to win this one but stranger things have happened. Our problem is our defence and if we can keep it tight in the first half, I e Not concede 2 goals then the Albion may give you a game of it yet. We have got to get the monkey off our backs and start winning at home and this Saturday could be just the day to do it in front of a decent crowd at Forthbank. However that all depends on our defence keeping it tight at the back. My prediction Stirling Albion 1 Dunfermline Ath 1 Fingers crossed for this one
  4. I notice that Stirling Uni who play at Forthbank along side Stirling Albion their will play Albion Rovers on Sunday October 5th in the Scottish Cup. Fancy going along to this game but was wondering what price is it to get in for this tie and if their is any catering facilities available their when Stirling Uni play, as I heard that their is none for League games. Anybody out their can enlighten me?
  5. Oh dear pacey going forward, that could give our defence some problems not that we have enough problems to fix! Still we can only hope for the best and we might sneak a draw if lucky
  6. Well you never know, Dunfermline`s away record is not to good and if we feed all their players on buckets of KFC before the game then anythings possible.
  7. Well that`s the unbeaten away from home record gone now. Once again our defence lets us down. We gave away 2 goals today to slack marking both from corners. First half we were never in it but improved in the second half but try as we might we just could not get the ball on target. Given the other results today that`s us down to 2nd bottom of the league only 1 point ahead of Airdrie. Next week we face Dunfermline at Forthbank and on this form I can`t see us getting our first home win of the season never mind a point. Already the writing is on the wall for the Albion a long hard season awaits us unless we start defending properly and start to pick up points.
  8. Don,t know about an Albion win but hopefully we can keep the unbeaten run away from home intact this Saturday. Fancy us to get a draw 1-1 at Stair Park. We will probably set up to a 4-5-1 formation away from home and try to keep it tight. If this is the case I wonder you will be our lone striker up front Smith or Doris with Sandy on the bench to come on and hopefully snatch the winner.
  9. Well at 2-0 down I thought here we go again another home defeat, but give the lads credit we managed to get a goal back from a great strike from Sandy Cunningham and never gave up. Sandy managed to get the equaliser and we held out to get a point. It was not the 3 points we were looking for but at least we have broke our points drought at home. Hopefully we can built on this for the next home game against Dunfermline at the beginning of October and get our 1st home win of the season, that would be very nice. Away to Stranraer next Saturday, hope we can keep up our unbeaten record away from home, a point or even 3 would be nice.
  10. Yes the September edition of the Albion mag will be on sale at Forthbank priced £3
  11. Doris should be fit for Saturday played in the SPFL Development game against East Stirling at Stirling Uni, so unless he takes a reaction from this game he should be included in the squad for Saturday. Whether he starts or not will be up to Greg McDonald.
  12. Have to disagree with it not being a Must win game, we need to get the Monkey off our backs of not winning at home, the longer this continues I believe it will have an effect on the team, plus the fact that will the supporters put up with more of the same performances of the 2 previous games if we don't get a win at home soon.
  13. On Saturday the Albion face a Forfar side that sits joint top with 2 other teams on 10 points. Clearly this is going to be a difficult game for the Albion on the back of 2 heavy home defeats the last being the 5-0 trouncing we took against Brechin. First and foremost our defence has got to keep it tight at the back, otherwise I can see Forfar winning. The tactics on Saturday must be right if we have to stand any chance, our midfield has been non existent in the last couple of games and I think that Darren Smith should start if Craig Comrie is not fit for this game. Up front I believe that Stephen Doris will start along side Gordon Smith to give him some support which I felt we missed against Brechin. Sandy Cunningham did his best on Saturday and apart from one shot at goal in the 1st half, he was largely ineffective, so a spot on the bench for the Forfar game will probably be in hand. This is a game we MUST win even at this early part of the season and Greg McDonald must get the team formation right otherwise it will be more of the same. 3 Points is a must imo. We Must start winning at home to give ourselves a chance of staying in this league. Our away form has been good but as I said we MUST start winning at home. Prediction for Saturday Stirling Albion 1 Forfar Ath 0. Here`s hopping
  14. Terrible performance from the Albion today, even worse than against Ayr. 2 Home game played and not a single point from them. One has to question the tatics of Greg McDonald for the match today, not that I am excusing the performances of certain players. Defensively we were poor again. Worse defence by far in this League. Brechin to be fair to them probably earned the easiest 3 points they will get this season away from home. On performances like this we have an almighty struggle ahead to stay in this league. We play Forfar at home next week and we need to start winning at home against teams like this, anything less than 3 points even in this early part of the season will be a disaster. Question marks already over the future of Greg McDonald at this early point in the season imo..
  15. To BerwickMad get over it, go and post on the League 2 General chatter board for all Berwick comments. With regard to the forthcoming match on Saturday against Brechin hopefully we will turn up this time and get our 1st home win of the season after our dire performance against Ayr. Its a game we need to win and follow that up with another home win over Forfar next week. Our defence must keep it tight at the back, if we can do that we should be in in with a good chance of victory. Brechin have made a decent start to the season and it will be a difficult match for us but l think we will score.in what looks like a tight game. Prediction Stirling Albion 2 Brechin 1 3 more points on Saturday hopefully for the Albion.
  16. Not a bad game between the Albion and Airdrieonians felt they both sides had chances to win the game. In the first half Airdrieonians had one shot come of the post and just before halftime a free kick come off the bar. The Albion had a great chance in the first half to score but again the bar saved Airdrieonians. 2nd half the Albion gained the upper hand should have went in front but despite hitting the bar and a shot that went just wide it ended in a draw. Overall I feel that its 2 points dropped as to 1 point gained away from home. Happy our defence kept a clean sheet for once. Surprised Darren Smith was not starting for the Albion but remained on the bench. Still can`t grumble with start the Albion has made in League 1 . 5 points from 4 games. all gained from 3 away games. Roll on the next 2 games both at home after the international break 6 points out of 6 would be brilliant here`s hopping.
  17. It would appear that both sets of supporters are being exploited, surprised by the reaction of Airdrieonians FC to their own supporters when they complained about the price. Do they offer cut price season tickets to their supporters as an incentive to buy one? At the Albion it costs an Adult £175 for a season ticket for 18 League games works out at under a tenner per game over the season. What is the price at Airdrieonians for a Adult season ticket?
  18. Agreed it is over the odds for a 1st Division game. Are the facilities at Airdrie worth the price compared to the £13 the Albion charge at Forthbank. I don`t think so. We should be encouraging people to go along to games and at this price I don`t think so. People don`t have that much spare cash these days what with rising costs and will pick and chose very carefully on where they spend their money.
  19. This Saturday the Albion make the short journey to Airdrie to face bottom of the table Airdrieonians at the Excelsior Stadium. Following the away win last week at Stenhousemuir by the Albion can we make it 2 in a trot and gain another 3 points to help with our goal of staying in the 1st Division this season. I think we can but we must tighten up at the back. The Albion`s record of 8 conceded in 3 games is the worst in the Division and we need to address this problem otherwise we will be fighting relegation back to Division 2. Team wise I can`t see much change from the team that beat Stenhousemuir on Saturday. Hopefully our defence will be up to the task on Saturday and another 3 points in the bag to help us maintain our status in Division 1
  20. We made it hard for ourselves but in the end we achieved an excellent away victory over Stenhousemuir. Can`t remember the last time we scored 5 away from home but the 4 we let in one or two imo could have been avoided especially the 2nd Stennie goal Greg Patterson our goalkeeper did not exactly cover himself in glory for this one but overall a good performance in a ground where in the past we have usually ended up with nothing. Roll on Airdrie next week possible 2nd away victory on the trot here`s hopping
  21. Hopefully he will start on Saturday been on the bench for the last couple of games, came on Tuesday night looked okay could do with his experience at Ochilview. Don`t know why McDonald does not start him unless he`s getting back to match fitness and he does not want to risk him for the full ninety minutes because of his age. Still you never know could it be the Albion`s day to get a win their which is long overdue. Here`s hopping
  22. This Saturday the Albion make the short journey to Ochilview to play the Warriors. Given our defeat and performance last week at our opening game of the season at Forthbank by Ayr we really need to take something from this game. I was pleased with our performance but not the result from Tuesday`s match against Alloa and hope that we carry on from their and get at least a point against Stenhousemuir maybe even snatch an away win if lady luck goes our way. As I understand Steven Doris and Phil Johnston will be missing through injury. Prediction Stenhousemuir 1 String Albion 1
  23. He managed to last the whole of last season despite some woeful performances and we ended up with promotion. This season if we are near the bottom come round about December , we really need then to change the management and bring in someone a little bit more tactically aware with experience of the 1st Division to help us survive but for now I would give McDonald the chance to see what he can do at this level.
  24. For the 1st home game of the season the Albion were dire, 1st half Ayr were well in command. 2nd half we improved a little bit after Sandy Cunningham came on and 2-0 down, managed to get back to 2-1 after a stupid penalty was given away by Ayr but as usual our defence gave away a soft goal to make it 3-1 to Ayr. Ayr deserved their win far better team over the 90 minutes. Hopefully we cannot play any worse than this other wise our stay in the 1st Division will be brief. Roll on Stenhousemuir and Ochilview next Saturday for our 1st win of the season, hopefully.
