Yeah, hard to argue that Buchanan is possibly a better player. What I do think is that Mark Durnan could turn out to be a better acquisition than both.

I think Durnan so far has been our best CD for some time..possibly since Andy Graham.Crighton does a decent job and the 2 of them prevented Forfar from routing us in that 1st half.

Any stenny fans know if they will stream the game on Saturday?

  2. Just to add Blair Malcolm was excellent when he came on but MOM was Young who's workrate was outstanding. Also I'd say that Shiels coming off helped us as i feel he is our most ineffective player at times.Gives the ball away and crosses to no one.Chuckie was far more effective today when he came on.Central defenders did their job , Lynas was strong and Gray was a thorn in Forfar's side.If we find consistancy we wont be far away with this squad. But thats a big IF.

  3. Great turnaround from us.Change of formation really worked today and the goals were well taken.

To give balance though Forfar were weakened today by injuries etc and when they lost Ross their attacking threat went almost completely. We have a strong squad and SF has done a great job assembling the team.Im still not convinced he is able to get the best out of them as was witnessed today by our jekyll and hyde performance.Again if he proves me wrong i will be delighted.

    Roll on next week.

I’m minded to go, only because in 30 years following the club I’ve never seen us beat a sitting premier league team and it has to happen at some point surely.

    Punishment beating incoming.

Virtually no chance of breaking that duck tonight. Its a case of damage limitation in terms of score and personnel. The real stuff starts on the 5th.

Both players have signed for Clyde, I think Jan just stuck them under the wrong team. Connor Scullion played for us previously and was a shite sand dancer.

Totally forgot he ever played for us...either im getting dementia or he was pish.

I suspect (and I could be well wide of the mark here, but I've sat through a higher than average number of planning committee meetings than a normal 25-year-old) that the aim will be to have planning formally granted on the site, albeit with the condition included that it is subject to a soil sample.

Cognitive/Four Architects/Whoever will then look to sell the club with a sales pitch that looks something like this.

"Extensive grounds with planning permission* for X luxury four bedroom home and YY apartments with stunning views over the River Clyde and iconic Dumbarton Castle."

The Asterix will lead to the smallest of small print, that says *subject to conditions being met. And some poor chump will have dollar signs flash up in their eyes. Buy the club, issue great promises. Then realise that those conditions have the potential to cost a frightening amount of money, vanish into the background for a bit and then try and work out how they can flog the club to the next loser.

As I said. I could be completely wrong. It's all just guesswork and speculation. But I can see that being the aim here.

That seems entirely reasonable to me and I would have put it in the exact same manner. If soil samples arent taken its probably because they know the result will be harmful to their(COGCAP) plans. They will then pitch the idea to people with more cash than brains as a way out and leaving this shitefest to them.

Either way something has to give as the current situation is untenable.

750k it looks like.If our owners were serious about the club we would be going after this with serious interest.Could really solve potentially anyway many problems.Given other site issues it may cost more to get it installed. But are we even looking into it?

Anyone else heading to Airdrie this weekend?

how we feeling about it? Personally I’m looking forward to it and seeing the new players and faz picking his first proper starting 11 I reckon it may be the same as the Workington game

Might goto one of the home games but I have zero expectation.Hopefully we can finish off the bottom like last year and get a few extra quid.Otherwise im not expecting much other than pastings especially vs Airdrie and Dundee.

A lot of places are doing reduced opening hours. If they have a regular daytime crowd then they'll open during the day but close early. If its a regular evening crowd then there's no point opening at 11:00 and having to pay wages and utility costs for hours. Even up in Glasgow. Was in The State Bar before and after a gig in the city centre a few months ago. Group of us who meet up at gigs wanted to go for a few after the show. We made it to the pub about 10:20 and got 1 round in. Bar called last orders at 10:30 and were basically kicking us out before 11.

Most places are struggling these days.

Very true indeed.I suppose some bars can work the way you say while for  others its just ever decreasing circles.

    Sad state of affairs.

I hear big Iain's in the scrap metal trade these days

But, yes there's no reason why it couldn't be a decent local, small, live music venue on Fri/Sat nights, live football on tv Sundays & close Mon-Thurs.

Pubs do make money ,no doubt ,but if its only operting 3 days it would need to be really busy to cover the overheads etc It might turn a profit but might not be worth it in the long run. Since covid many pubs have been struggling as people stay at home with carry out food , a few beers from thr fridge and watch netflix etc. Also price of a pint now is not cheap .

Our system leaves us extremely exposed in wide areas when we lose the ball. Hopefully we can work that out over the next few games as it looks a risky set up. Positives are that Blair Malcolm looks a smooth operator in midfield and we are actually looking to play football. Couple of guys look off the pace but to be expected at this point. Definitely a much more positive team this year by the looks of it.

We need more time and games to get sharper.Hopefully by August we will be okay.at least 5 games til then vs decent opposition.LC might be a hard watch against good FT teams.

Like a number of people Jan, I seldom do these days.

For me the previous website was excellent. On the first page you got all the info with the twitter feed.Brilliant layout.

The shit show we have now is dysfunctional a bit like the board. To say its amateurish is a slight on amateurs and anyone with half a brain would bring the old site back.

The conspiracy theorists among us might say ' shit website shit pitch shit customer service ( pay for a stream not get it and no refund)shit style of play etc etc..club goes down the pan ground is sold....but im an optimist and believe somwhow things will work out for the best.Maybe we need to ride out the storm.
