I don't think many believe it's his managerial  ability that should be questioned - rather his morals

You'd probably struggle to find many managers that won't sign a player like dgw if allowed by their bod. Christ how many managers have signed Lithgow now or Declan Gallagher. Down south guys like Lee Hughes who killed someone and was jailed for 6 years for dangerous driving  had managers queuing up to sign him when he got out of jail . Ched Evans was courted by numerous teams before his conviction was quashed.  Managers jobs is to put the best 11 players they can on the park .

This is the same Mcglynn that would've lost the league to M&M but for COVID? When did he become super?

I get the negativity over the last few seasons, we've been terrible. The idea that it'll take years to turn around though, why should it? Loads of teams have turned around in a season and we still have advantages over most teams in this league. I'd like to know what (as we keep seeing posted on here)will take years to fix behind the scenes that we always hear about? The shop? The hospitality? The website? I'd genuinely like to know. If we get the right manager and some new players to go with and improve some of our squad then what behind the scenes would hold us back, or is this just excuse for the new board set up?

And before anyone says, I'm in the FSS, I agree with fan ownership and want everything to be a success.

We don't need anyone super just someone competent . He managed to have Raith above us despite his budget being about a third of McKinnon/m and ms. Whether Raith would've won it who knows but was a much better achievement than us considering how much money we had to throw about.

Nobody has said anything will take years to fix but it won't happen overnight either. The bod are currently working 7 days a week and uncovering more by the minute but if we get the right manager in and recruitment is far better we should be there or there about next season.

As I have said before either the Board leaks like a sieve or the forum's got bullshitters.

How can the board be credible in the eyes of the support when certain individuals give the lowdown to all and sundry on what's going on.

If it is true them McGlynn will be far from impressed and rightly so.

If the bod leaked like a seive we'd know who the manager was now. Instead we have numerous rumours and he said she said on about 3 or 4 different names definitely getting the job.

He can be as ‘unlikeable’ as he wants, as long as he knows how to get us out of this mess in which we find ourselves.

He’s exactly the kind of manager we need at this time.

    Correct.

    Won the league before.

    Excellent contacts

Recruitment record is very good on a restricted budget.

Has shown he can also compete in the championship.

Ticks all the boxes for me

Apparently the rumours are true and we've offered McGlynn a deal on more than he's getting now at Raith.  His decision will come down to whether Raith are prepared to match it next week.

Wait and see I guess - personally I'd rather we got Murray or Wright.  I've never taken to McGlynn and don't think many Raith fans would be disappointed if he left, a feeling that he's gone as far as he can with them combined with the DGW saga.  That said, he's probably got enough about him to improve us and saw signings like Berra, Armstrong, Gullan, Hendry etc when we were signing the likes of Joe McKee and Seb Ross so at least that's something.  I think he's an appointment that would need a quick bounce as I think a fair few share my view that he's an unlikeable character.

Doubt Raith will offer him anything or they would have by now. He'll be elsewhere next season whether it's us or not who knows. Not sure about the unlikeable guy as I don't know him from Adam but he seems to get his team's playing for him and that's the main thing.

The numbers in the FSS really need to increase to make a meaningful difference in my opinion. Fans have been given a fantastic opportunity to own the club and make decisions for real change yet many seem content to moan and complain from the sidelines rather than contribute and help, Greenock Morton have a similar fan ownership scheme and have double the numbers we do despite having a smaller fan base. It’s kinda embarrassing to be honest and says a bit about the attitude some of our fans have. Hearts, Motherwell, St Mirren are all fully or partially fan owned and have a far larger percentage of they’re respective fan bases contributing as well.

Yeah although certainly the fact that Morton probably wouldn't exist without these fans buying into it probably helped boost their numbers.  Fans always tend to come out in numbers when clubs are facing disaster or of course doing very well. We currently have a malaise about our club caused by previous boards eagerness to take the supporters for granted.  We need to hope that a new manager and some encouraging signings will change that and hopefully a publicity drive by the fss at season ticket time with membership forms in the season ticket pack etc will help encourage others to join up .

Sadly the problem with Falkirk is not the managers or players we gone through it’s the guys that own the club that have got to go. Apparently SandyAlexander values the. Club at 1.5 million ffs. Until they go and we have one main shareholder  with skin in the game I fear we will dither around the lower leagues for another ten years. Appointing puppet boards has been a disaster for us and as well meaning as they are the latest incumbents are  just playing football manager. The MSG know the problem and should offer their shares for a knock down price of 2 or 300 k . Move over if you are real fans guys this pantomime about who the next manager is and what success he could have is the same shit we’ve heard for ten years.

Where have you been the last year? Had to check this was the first of may and not April. The msg doesn't exist any more FFS. Ritchie and Alexander are now minority share holders and can value the club at anything they want to as it means feck all. They have also indicated that they will hand over their shares to the fss if we make a success of it. What a lot of nonsense.

I suspect you may be waiting a while.

Normally the manager tells the players after the last game if they’ll be offered a new contract, and the ones who won’t are on the release list which goes out a few days later.

This year there is no-one to make those decisions. It’ll be up to the next manager to decide if he wants to offer deals to the likes of Mutch, Telfer etc, assuming they haven’t signed for anyone else before he arrives. So until he’s in place I don’t think you’ll get much of a release list.

I guess the alternative is to put up a list of everyone who’s out of contract and add a caveat that the next manager might ask some of them to come back, but that would seem a clumsy way of doing things IMO. We’ll see in the next few days.

Or we may have a manager lined up who already knows who he wants to keep or move on. Who knows.

There is no doubt the squad has a lot of shit in it, however, I truly believe that with the right manager and if we make 6 good signings, some of the players in the team could look completely different

The only manager that could make some of these guys look totally different is Lee miller funnily enough

Wouldn’t surprise me if Airdrie relegated them.

Would make next season a wee bit more interesting.

Hughes has made a right arse of that.  Only 5 wins out his last 20 and if they can't beat queen's at home they could be in real danger of dropping down. Despite bringing in numerous players .

I agree I don't get the love for mcglynn.  there were hundreds of posts on here about giving up falkirk forever if we signed DGW, yet this guy actually signed him.

The managers job is to recommend good players to the bod that they want to sign. The bod then make decisions on whether to sign on moral grounds  if necessary.  Miller and McCracken did exactly the same as mcglynn did but I never saw anyone castigating them for it. He won't be trying to sign dgw for us that's the main thing.

He didn’t win the league with Raith. He was awarded the league title based on an arbitrary point in time.

He'd won it before with Raith and was ahead of us in the league despite having about a third of our budget when they got given league one .  To then take them to 3rd top of the champ was pretty good going.

At the end of the day we know mcglynn can win this league and compete in the championship. We don't know at the moment whether Murray is capable of either. I'd take Murray but I'd prefer mcglynn.

  13. 1 hour ago, grumpyoldman said:

While you are correct that Murray hasn’t won anything, think it’s a tad unfair to say his record is piss poor. Both have the same sort of win ratio

Mcglynns record has trophies on it Murray's doesn't. That's what it's all about surely? They don't hand out prizes for ratios.

Out of a desire for distractions, a few:

Bene - Looks that another Championship year might be too much to ask, probably still do well in a League One.

Tumilty - Expected to be taken by a lower half Premiership or top level Championship team. Unlikely to drop a level.

Musonda - Would have been a shoe-in for a higher signing, but hasn’t shown as much as expected, although not given a decent shake to do so either. Doubt he’d drop a level, other Championship+ suitors likely.

McKay - Might be a League One level defender, might not be.

Spencer - Likely to either re-sign or get another Championship position, but could be a possibility, if he’s willing to drop a level.

Not sure about bene considering his penchant for getting red carded at TFS.

Everyone just forgetting McGlynn signed a rapist a few months ago, aye? Came across like the total dinosaur he is in the aftermath too, while I'm not even convinced his managerial record is all people say it is. Murray has the perfect mix of some experience, while also seeming to be on his own upward trajectory. He should be our No.1 target.

Murray's record is piss poor if you compare it to mcglynns. Hasn't won anything in his managerial career. Not a sausage . I'd be relatively happy with either of them but more confident that mcglynn would get us up. Also  he's a football manager not the morale compass of a football club. That's the boards job.

Tumilty (who I’ve accepted is away anyway) and Spencer aside, there isn’t an out of contract player I’d be too bothered about leaving. I know you’ve tried to sign Bene before and frankly you can have him.

Of course if you just submit the same offer you made to Clyde for Goodwillie in Janurary I’m sure we’ll accept.

Think you're lumbered with him for a while yet.  Surely you will be paying him off.
