The St. Mirren FC 2023/24 thread
geo87 replied to djchapsticks's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
This is definitely a team with no heart imo… i fuckin love this squad - we were not at the races today but to grind that out of nothing is quite sensational. that has to be up there with Raith c99-00 season when junior I think it was scored 2 in the last couple of minutes -

Winter break come at a good time i think. need to regroup and get back to what we were doing well in the opening games of the season. I’m sure SR will have a couple of options lined up with some heading out the door. Our dealings / squad management has been excellent last couple of windows so no reason this one can’t be the same… -
More players being listed at the burgh “at their own request” - wonder what’s going on

St. Mirren vs St. Johnstone 28/10
geo87 replied to djchapsticks's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I know RG has been saying it for months but still can’t believe how poor supers were today. We hardly had to get out of first gear. reminded me of us in some of our darkest days, doesn’t look great for them just now! Big positive today was us taking our chances, makes a pleasant change! Some strike from Baccus too! -
This is amusing!

I’m aware of that, I live 400 miles away, I don’t have anyone that cares as much of me to take time out to go and vote on my behalf. why not have a normal web based vote like we usually do? -

Apparently 5% required for it to go to vote. why don’t they do their usual web based vote, instead for this you need to attend in person which many can’t / don’t do (I can’t)? Im done with them, I was uncomfortable when SG came On board and rumours of bullying. Some of the statements were then ridiculous and petty points scoring, now this latest vote is just pure jobs for the boys / looking out for their pals when it could easily be settled by Alan having a grown up conversation with the board. To have a fan owned organisation have a (effectively) closed vote to allow someone into the stadium is pathetic and smacks of amateurism. Of course SMISA are here to challenge the board and hold them to account, but also there ti support and work with them too. Granted my £25 won’t make a difference in the grand scheme of things, but I will come back once I can see a change in what they are doing. What fucks me off the most is the timing. At a time when nothing but positivity coming out of the club they decide to do this which just creates distraction and unrest from what our ultimate goal should be, success on and off the park. Pathetic. -

It is absolutely no coincidence that we have had a great run of keepers under Langfield. I think it was Alnwick that said he’s the best coach he’s had, and he’s played at a decent level. As much of the credit has to go to Langfield as well as the Keepers for doing the business on the park. -
What an utter embarrassment of a club On and off the park!

What’s a result that is btw. Once again the resilience of this side shines through, Motherwell are a right good side and based on how they played today not many teams will turn them over on their patch. We weren’t great, but thought that was more down to how they played. Thought Ohara was poor / didn’t look sharp today but he must have made 2 or 3 vital challenges in their final third in the last few minutes of the games when he must have covered some Amount of ground to get to it - the guy is a machine and turning into one of my favourite captains in my lifetime! Hemming looked really assured today - think he’s going to be a really solid signing for us this season! -
What’s your thoughts on the weekends outburst? You’ve always come across as a sensible poster.

Cannot believe we didn’t come away with 3 points from that. In seasons gone by I’d be absolutely seething but just can’t help being delighted about how consistently good we are looking. As long as days like this are few and far between and we become slightly more clinical we are going to be serious contenders for top 6 again this season. Not even going to pick out a player today as absolutely everyone is contributing and can see each persons role and instructions within the team. I’m in no doubt we’ve caught Aberdeen on a good weekend due to their European game, but I’ve seen Aberdeen against Celtic and a couple of games in Europe this season, we have outplayed a very good side today who I have no doubts will finish 3rd this season. I’m 37 and can’t remember seeing us as strong as this! -
What hassle? Thought the Thorn were relatively well run behind the scenes?
-
Killie looked decent tonight! magennis looking sharp, hopefully he can get run of games this season without injury!

As someone relatively local who always keeps an eye on their results, I take absolutely no joy in saying that this is going to end in disaster!
