  1. Back in May i was speaking to a Montrose fan that i know through work and was asking him about Brechin as i was anticipating another good side joining in league 2. To my surprise he reckoned Brechin would struggle and the evidence so far suggests he was correct. As for us it'll be interesting to see how we measure up in the next few matches which perhaps will provide a step up in class.
  2. Cant recall another occasion where a QP side was set up to not give maximum chance of winning a match. First 2 substitutions said it all with both being defensive. Credit to the players on the park who continued to try to get a result right to the end. Would have been good to keep the winning going in a game that was there for the taking.
  3. Sign of the times that clubs at our level are fielding weakened teams this early in the season due to league priorities.
  4. Roberts must have been bricking it on Tuesday in case we won the shootout.
  5. The game on Tuesday night felt like you were attending a youth team or reserve match except the price to get in didnt reflect that. From that perspective i felt a bit short changed. A flat rate fiver would have been a better reflection of the stature of the match but to be honest if i had known Roberts was making so many changes i probably wouldnt have gone, but in the end I am glad I did and was encouraged by how the younger lads went about things.
  6. Noticed Euan East scored one of the Rovers pens last night. Disappointing he feels his career will advance better with the Dirties.
  7. I also felt Summers was better going forward than defending so Roberts maybe sees him as an option playing further up the park. He was never that great at cutting out crosses. A lot of goals we lost last season were from crosses from his side. However he has now added goals to his game so he may play him in front of Cammy.
  8. A dumplin who had the nack of getting you important goals. Slow but decent footwork. Good positional sense but the abilty to drive you nuts with frustration. You may recall the 2 goals against Arbroath at the end of last season with the second really summing up the potential ability in the boy.
  9. Based on what we've seen on the pitch since November and due to our fellow strugglers beginning to pick up points is anyone else beginning to hear alarm bells ?
  10. Gus was usually keen to bring in loanees during the window. Which areas do you think Mark will look to strengthen ? Personally i would go for 3 guys who are built like brick shit houses and we might then be able to go toe to toe against some of the sides in this division.
  11. This would be good game to get Gibby back in either in a 4 alongside Gerry which was really succesful at the start of the season (i dont think either Dom or Lewis are playing so well to keep Gibby and Gerry out) or in a 3 with Gerry and Dom, although i would suggest as others have that for this game is a 3 really necessary and I dont think Grant and Summers give enough end product. Both arent that great at the final ball.
  12. There is a dire lack of belief in the side just now. Today was a case in point. Thats something for the head coach to address ... if he can. Despite the different formation today that didnt stop us losing soft goals yet again. Despite fielding 3 in central defence (although i did think overall Jambo was quite useful in there) Goodwillie was in splendid isolation on both occasions. I am a fan of James Grant but again his loss of possession cheaply cost us a goal.....not the only time of late....and we've just allowed arguably the best right back at the club to leave for pastures new. The formation today also meant everything we tried was going through the middle when it was crying out for someone going wide and going round the back. Kurtis is playing too deep.. end of. Finally it was heartening to see Gibby back in the squad. Will be good to see him and Gerry back together.
  13. On a more positive note, this season's Last Man Standing on P&B was won by our very own DundeeSpider1867. First blood to QP.
  14. Especially disappointing in that of late we've been out muscled in midfield a few times and he was usually up for a scrap.
  15. Too many of these defenders when playing on these plastic pitches let the ball bounce before trying to play it and subsequently put themselves and the team under pressure. Second goal on Saturday was case in point. Also there is far too much reliance on Gerry to win balls from set pieces. Every team we play has at least 3 giants in their side and we need to work out how to combat that. I thought young McGhee looked ok when he came on and probably deserves a run in place of Dom. Thought Gow showed some nice touches and might be the one to show some invention.
  16. Will that be Jambo finished with penalties. All three the same and 2 missed.
  17. I think Summers has also looked a far better player than last season.
  18. That penalty might be the turning point for Mortimer. Hope it is because he never gives less than his all.
