  1. Fair point, but unfortunately winning brings confidence and that ability to see out a game. A team on a good run also gets that break of the ball. This is the case at all levels of football from children to professional. The young lads will improve further if and when results come.
  2. We can't really be taking much from the game as it wasn't really our first choice team. I was a bit confused with selection. I totally get the need to give players minutes but this now means our 'main players' will have missed match sharpness opportunity. Also, Maurice mentioned in interview that this was a perfect opportunity to keep players ticking over and fresh. Like I said though, not judging anything on game. Hopefully kick on vs Gretna next Saturday.
  3. Typical bounce game ! Osborne has been on loan at Swifts and is, in my opinion, no where near good enough. Think it will be his last game for us. Crossgates were the better team but we did have boys playing who have had limited minutes this season. Some of the players are options but shows we don't have much depth. They are only friendly matches but that is 2 draws now against Swifts and Crossgates this season. Who would have thought it a few years back!
  4. I am far from celebrating. Deserved to lose end of story! Rock bottom at the moment but will get there again.
  5. Your number 8 also likes to try and referee the game. Mind you, wish some of our players were a bit more vocal.
  6. Thought he looked more like a geography teacher.
  7. Thanks for your prediction, much appreciated. Shame that your top class team were unable to get the 3 points.
  8. Good to get 3 points after past couple of games. Thought Davo cruised it and is so important for us. Slaven also did well first half in particular. Overall, I think we were fortunate to get the win but will take it. Friday night games a decent plan if it could maybe get an extra few in. Games like today with zero atmosphere won't attract people back unfortunately.
  9. At least we have a couple of games ahead on the back of a disappointing week. EK game was a huge boost but gutted that this has not been increased further. Was real positives against Berwick first half in particular but unfortunately we are back needing a win to build up confidence again. Couple of tough but winnable fixtures next week before a huge challenge against CSS. Jardine and Mbu doing a great job and excellent result tonight. There experience of LL is evident. Could do with picking up more points soon before turn of the year to alleviate pressure from teams below again. On a positive note, there will be some new stock in shop available very soon in time for xmas shopping.
  10. Totally agree. If you give ex players stick expect it back if they score/team wins. No abuse was aimed at Piper etc, just a bit of banter which he was laughing at. I also expected so much more from Berwick. They got the points though! Jamie Stevenson should really think about finishing up. Such a good player that is now struggling. Sinky had a decent game. Couple of times should really have passed. Good to see that he is always looking to score mind you. He will keep getting better. Still think we are stronger up top with Carlos and Slaven.
  11. I have to agree. Berwick were embarrassing first 75mins. We had so much of the ball but final ball and decision making poor at times. Subs definitely changed the game. Players maybe struggling though? Brilliant turn out and backing for the team. Shame about the result!
  12. Taking orders for these bottle coolers. Message if interested. £10
  13. 100% that we all have different opinions. That's what makes us all football experts. I do see the reason for defending corners as we do but feel unlike teams at a higher level, we are unable to play our way out. Often our players are clearing their lines meaning the ball is coming straight back and we are once again under the cosh. I will never forget when involved with my son in an under 18 game the opposition leaving 4 on the half way line at a corner and couple outside the box. What a decision that left. BTW, not suggesting we do this Anyway, I will stick to selling things. Hopefully get something on Saturday and then go on a run.
  14. There was very little in the game could easily have stole a point. Agree with struggling to understand why we withdraw the whole team back when defending free kicks/corners. At one point Ross asked Carlos to get back in the box from being goal side already but outside the box. This resulted in the Spartans player following and 2 further players added to the already crowded box. There were positives tonight and hopefully results will come soon against the teams above us. As others have said, the threat below is reduced so attacking more could be something we look to do moving forward.
  15. Not a problem. Will look at getting some shorts with JB on them to the shop where possible. Some more pub/bar things coming very soon.
  16. Maybe Beath Brewers can offer something as well. Iain always keen to get involved and talked about things at last supporters meeting.
  17. That is really spooky. I was just thinking about speaking to the club about something similar a couple of weeks back ahead of East Stirling game with it being a previous well known fixture. I had thought about a social media push around "Fill Central" asking anyone who attended previously and in particular games against Alloa, Elgin, Brechin, Dunfermline to turn up for this fixture. Think maybe midweek from how attendances have went this year might work and would avoid other games. I can't believe you just posted that.
  18. Haws, Swifts, Kelty, Oakley, Crossgates etc under 20s all came from their grassroots setup/community clubs. In swifts case, the senior team came after. Previously, a similar model was discussed when I ran a local youth setup but at the time Fife Elite was the main focus. If we can continue the success of Cowden in the Community and most recent link with Blue Brazil who have boys teams throughout the age groups and now a large number of girls, hopefully the older age groups can progress to under 20s and that eventual link. Dont think costing is a huge amount and in my opinion worth more than anything for the future. Youth teams don't only provide a potential player for 1st team but also a fan base. When my youth team was linked to Cowden, players attended training and the kids attended games, were ball boys, played at half time and more importantly their parents also attended, eventually purchasing season tickets. An under 20 team is a must and can happen soon.
  19. He looked fit when playing in ex players game.
  20. I agree that Love is a positive with regards to experience and is useful on the ball. Just concerned how often he is caught out and left behind as lacks pace. Hopefully can form a partnership with Lucas who is mobile and can compliment each other. Just shows the difference in quality from tier 7 to 5. He scored 30 odd goals from midfield for Oakley and Sinky also ran riot. Slaven has potential. Just needs to stay onside.
  21. Would have loved for him to be back at Cowden. Future manager.
  22. Agree regarding Ruddy and Davidson. Will certainly help defensively. Not sure about Love. Seems a bit off the pace at times, particularly when we are not in possession. Disappointed since his first game. Again that is only my opinion. Just think loan players are not required if building a team with no chance of promotion. Might as well develop own players.
  23. I agree that things are not that easy. You also do a cracking job with regards to negotiating and promoting Cowden to potential targets. I am concerned that a few players that were identified as being the future of the team are already leaving. Hopefully the youngsters left can be nurtured correctly and make progress. Would like to see loan players that are making little difference to not be involved. Rb Bisland from Dundee Utd will surely miss out when Alfie is back. Crucial game tomorrow. Boys will hopefully be up for it. Well done to Junction boys for showing an amazing support again with hospitality. Remember to pop in to the club shop tomorrow and start some early xmas shopping (or personal shopping ) C'mon the Silky!
