We should not have another instance of a club being so badly treated as Brechin ever again, and I am a For far fan.

In what way have Brechin been treated badly? They fucked both their place in the SPFL and their opportunity at a playoff back into it entirely on footballing merit.

We've got a team who've failed to meet the criteria - and are giving off the vibe that they don't actually want promotion - and another sugar daddy club who play at a leisure centre.

Not a great advert for the pyramid tbh.

There should 100% be a ‘good vibes’ criteria for gaining promotion. EK seem like c***s who’ll be a shite addition to the leagues, get them to f**k and promote Linlithgow instead.

How long is the grace period?

    What?

I’d have thought it was obvious, but until 1 July this year, as I just said. None of us have any way of knowing if any club have applied for additional extensions or what dialogue they’re having with the SPFL - apart from Buckie, who haven’t applied and had f**k all dialogue.

The point remains four SPFL clubs do not have a Bronze Licence and are getting an unknown period of time to comply whilst others aren't.

It isn’t unknown though. They have until 1 July, unless they specifically applied for an extra grace period - an option which was very clearly open to Buckie as well.

The Premiership clubs were paying for it for more than one game and in most cases more than one season. Do you think that justifies asking another club that isn’t in the premiership to pay for it for what could and did turn out to be one game ?

I think that there’s only one club in the entire SPFL who have any right to complain about VAR, and it’s Greenock Morton. The rest voted for this utter shambles and everything that comes with it.

  6. Last years run would’ve been an oddity as well in that (IIRC) we had to extend the entire squads contracts a wee bit to cover the playoff final so had an extra weeks wages to pay for, whereas that wouldn’t be the case this season.

Would we have to pay to install the VAR stuff again this season (if we make it that far) or would we already have most of it in place due to last season? @Ad Lib can you shed any light on this?

We ran them much closer than I expected to, and in the end I'm pretty confident that we are able to get a result in the second leg. I'm not saying that we definitely will, but there's a chance.

I'm also encouraged by the fact that, despite it being 100 years into the save, Tottenham are still Tottenham.

    HAHAHAHA you fucking beauty.

As I said, Tottenham are still Tottenham. 2-0 up at half time and they've fucked it. We deserve a lot of credit, but an undeniable bottle job.

We're off to Scotland's newest city.

  8. I don’t think we’re likely to get anything bigger than 12 team leagues, but would prefer that all four national divisions were 12 teams with a split. Bottom 2 down and top 2 up across the board, with a further playoff containing third bottom and 3rd-5th. Bottom division would have 2 down automatically, with both HL and LL champions up, and a playoff between the two runners up to face third bottom.

We also had Paton who had been signed a few years before from QP.

We certainly seem to have a better record with young Scottish players than signing unknown forwards from down South 😂

I think him and Cairney who we signed around the same time had been in the second division with QP for a season before we brought them in, so not quite as big a jump there.

It’s a shame that Paton turned out to be such an absolute p***k, because he was a good player for us.

Our title winning team at this level in 2012/13 had plenty of players who we signed from way down the pyramid. From memory I can think of Doolan, Erskine, Craigen, Muirhead and Taylor-Sinclair who had all been signed from League Two or below. There might be others I’m forgetting as well.

I also have no idea about Armstrong, but seems the exact sort of market we should be shopping in for cheap squad depth. Especially given that we seem to have a pretty good record of finding gems at these types of level.

Only other one (well, it’s a different pyramid) I can think of is Christie Elliott who was playing at some dogshit level in England when we signed him and did at least a serviceable job for a long time.

I’m with you that we have a decent enough record with these sorts of signings, although obviously there’s ones that haven’t worked (I’m looking at you Blair Lyons) it’s worth a shot given it’ll be relatively cheap.

  11. I would be tempted to give Muirhead a rest and get O’Reilly a bit more match sharpness for the playoffs. It’s going to be a gruelling schedule, and we need as many players up to speed as possible. He also looked pretty good when he came on yesterday.

Only other question mark is the extent of Stanway’s knock that forced him off yesterday. If he’s out for this, then the question is either Bannigan in a straight swap or move McInroy back and put MacKenzie in.

We didn't shit the bed in Dingwall at all we were  cheated out of our promotion to the SPL by the demands of a play-off system very much designed to protect the SPL club and on the day by a very poor referee.

By the time we reached the 70th minutes when Walsh awarded RC a penalty kick for a handball that never was we should have been 4 goals up playing against 10 men. Walsh denied us the most blatant penalty you'll ever see and a RC player should have been given a red card for a clear lunge on Tiffoney. Walsh initially ignored the handball and gave  the penalty and red card  decisions but reversed the 3 decisions  on the say so of the VAR official. All to the benefit of RC.

According to commentators and pundits his initial decisions were correct and his  VAR 'influenced' decisions were wrong.

I was amazed we managed to get as far as penalty kicks.

I suggest you watch the highlights and imagine its Airdrie playing RC. I would be interested in your opinion following that.

There has been over the past couple of seasons a lot of talk about football integrity well as far as the play-off system  and that particular game there was no football  integrity attached to any aspect.

Right, firstly he’s a Dundee United fan. And secondly, we were 3-0 up with 20 minutes to go and lost - we absolutely did shit the bed.

A poor month, and one that will almost certainly cost us in the title race.

Other than the first game, and the European exploits, we just didn't do enough in any of these games.

    IaLQbQi.png

And we drop back to four points behind. Could've been worse if Slavia had taken full advantage.

  14. Europa Conference League - Second Knockout Round - March 2122

    Spoiler

    X0vVSlV.png

A good result I think, certainly one that gives us a chance if we can do the business in the away leg. And the performance gives me a lot of hope that we can do exactly that, as we were pretty unlucky not to win to be honest.

    Spoiler

    m1qkIWc.png

A textbook away performance, and we're through. A ball back in after a corner saw Gonzalez unmarked at the back post for our opener, and after that it was a relatively straightforward tie for us. The second was an unfortunate one for them - a shot hit the post, came back out and hit their keeper's back and went in. Lovely stuff.

But we're through, and that's what matters.

    oYbfh1O.png

    We're going to get hammered.

  15. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. We stepped it up a notch in the second half, and Airdrie couldn’t live with it. If we could play like that from now until the end of the season, we’ll be in the Premiership next year.

Graham’s second goal was absolutely glorious and I genuinely cannot wait to watch it again. Fitzpatrick did really well at the first goal too - hopefully that gives him a confidence boost as he’s been slightly off it the last wee while. But he did really well rounding the keeper.

Hard to be critical after a 4-0 win, but here goes. McInroy seems to have a crippling phobia of the ball touching his right foot. Which isn’t ideal when he’s on the right of midfield. He did fine today, I thought, but there was a few times that he could’ve gone onto his right but just point blank refused to do it.

i don’t think Airdrie played especially badly - the keeper made a hash of it for the second goal and they were caught out after that.
