I do hope you are in your warm, wonderful, positive and optimistic mood as ever!
I normally don’t reply, especially over the past two seasons where this thread has just become one huge car-crash.
Social Media - “Constant Spam of Children on Holiday” - These spammers are our supporters, and our future supporters and if you are in Arbroath, or even further afield you now seen nearly every young boy and girl wearing an Arbroath shirt. It’s bloody brilliant. You just have to look around the terraces at Gayfield - full of young supporters.
These pictures and posts are maybe spam to you, but to these young supporters it makes their day. Big Clubs can’t and don’t do these sort of posts, even small clubs don’t do it. If a simple Facebook or Twitter post gives a young supporter a feeling of pride and joy and a connection with their club, then I shall keep posting them. It’s the same reason all the players stayed behind for over an hour on the final home game of last season signing shirts, hats, arms, and posing for selfies with everyone who asked, because without supporters and recognising them for their loyal support Clubs would be nothing.
It’s the same as sharing charity posts, missing person posts etc - We have a big outreach and if we can help one person, then every post and tweet is worth it.
I know we are all wrong on this forum, but just to let you know I am a volunteer, and I think this is my 10th season officially.
I read many false and incorrect ones on this forum, but again don’t bother speaking out as it's not my place nor my role. There are volunteers at the Club, and I spend sometimes spend anytime between 10-15 hours on a quiet week doing things for the Club, on a week where we have 3 games and lots of posts to write, create, film, photograph etc - up to 60 hours.
I do it as I am a supporter and prefer the Club spend their funds on players and facilities.
You are more than welcome to volunteer or take over and start the social media, I certainly can’t do it forever. I’m sure your positive charm would be more than welcome.
Final note for me today, and probably for the season.

He may have just left, but there is no way that Bobby was going to miss Ricky's testimonial.
Both signed in the same summer and both now having played for Arbroath for 10 seasons we are delighted that Bobby will be taking to the field during Saturday to once again play for Arbroath!

Please join us as we celebrate Ricky Little and his 10-years of service to Arbroath FC in his very well-deserved testimonial match, will see Arbroath take on Montrose at Gayfield Park on Saturday 1st July 2023 with a 2pm kick off.
With 363 appearances, and 13 goals for the Lichties, Ricky enters his 11th season at Gayfield with a series of testimonial events.
The match will be followed by a golf day later in the summer and we shall also be coming together for an evening of entertainment and a dinner, with the date and location to be announced!
The match itself will be open to everyone and a suggested cash donation of £10 for adults and £5 for Concessions/Children will be in place, but please feel free to donate more if you would like.
There is also a special hospitality taking place at Gayfield on the day with 2 Courses and 2 Drinks available for only £40.

Or maybe the Club can afford to sign players as they are well run, have a board who have constantly invested in upgrading parts of the stadium every season including investing in Hospitality, with two modern suites pretty much sold out every home game and having a good commercial director bring in new sponsorship and revenue to promote the club and more importantly we have a community who are behind the club.
I mean we could be trying to sell our club to any business consortium from all around the world that also wants to sign their own players and help repair a huge stadium and leave our supporters frustrated and in the dark about the future of the club. That is a gamble, I suppose.

I was wondering if any Queen of the South supporters can help or any Computer Boffins.
I'd say I hold a good level of computer / IT knowledge but I was setting up my Dad's tablet today so he can view the game tomorrow.
Logged in with last season's details, paid via paypal and all okay but the message saying that I can't view because my IP address is coming in as from England due to Section 23 etc.
I know doing speed tests in the past, sometimes the TalkTalk IP address shows as Manchester even though clearly sitting in Arbroath.
Does anyone know what you can do to make sure the IP address from your internet provider actually comes from Scotland?
I could have let him use my phone as a hot spot, but I'll be at the game tomorrow so that doesn't work.

Yes, but there is a massive, massive gulf from league one to the Championship.
Every single team is looking for a striker who can put the ball in the back of the net, but the Scottish Championship has a history for being a very difficult league to score in and there is little between most clubs. Fine margins and a lot of tight 1-0 games.
Most teams we have faced in the past 2 seasons have internationalists playing in their side and any good goal scorer is snapped up by a bigger club.
Last season Shields and Obileye both from Queen of the South scored a lot last season and both got moves to Motherwell and Livingston. McManus is off to the New Saints, Todorov got a move to Dunfermline, Sow was meant to move to Europe and Jack Hamilton is going to be playing for Livingston this season.
Most of the top scorers are also the club's penalty takers which adds on quite a number to their list, certainly Dobbie and Trouten's figures are boosted by penalties.
The pandemic seen most clubs sign up their players on longer contracts and there is a real lack of players out there. As always on this site people mention players who may be on a bench for a game. Fraser Fyvie was the latest one mentioned. He just signed a new 3 year deal with Cove in March and is their captain. They wouldn't dream of letting him leave, and if they did it would be for a lot of money.
If we have a player who can even reach 10/12 goals this season we will have a top goalscorer. There will still be players coming in, and by the start of August our squad will definitely have more attacking options signed.
We were incredibly luck to get Jack. His goal ratio in the Championship was amazing and if we had him for a season we would have been for sure challenging for the top 4.

In our debut season in the Championship an Adult Season Ticket was £220, so the season ticket has went up £10 over 2 Seasons.
Whilst £180 for those renewing or £230 for new is a lot of money for some people, if you consider Montrose are charging £240 and East Fife are £245 for League One then it’s pretty good and certainly the cheapest in the Championship by far for those who have announced their prices. (Ayr £260, Killie £350 new / £300 renewing, Partick £360 new / £290 renewing)

Stan - all information including streaming is on all the Arbroath social channels and website, but yes it is included and is continuing.

Given that we only have two players who live within 20 miles of Arbroath, who are both injured and won't play and the rest of our team come from Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Fife and the vast majority in and around Glasgow and will be facing the same early start and long travel as most of the Ayr team this really shouldn't even be a discussion.
I'm pretty sure all players if asked would want home by 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, rather than 9pm on a Saturday night.

Neither of these statements are quite accurate though.
Jake Davidson made a really sold debut alongside Ben Williamson away to Queen of the South. Jake was set to start the next match away to Morton but picked up an injury in the warm up and hasn't recovered from the injury yet, so not even in any of the squads since so certainly not been warming the bench.
Mark had a niggle which needed time to heal, sort itself out just before our pre-season kicked off. With a late start to the season and not being in a position when we have been winning comfortably to come on as a sub he hasn't had any real match time to get up to speed or match fitness. He did start in that match away to Queen of the South and was up against one of the fastest and in form strikers in Connor Shields who did leave him trailing in the first half and was subsequently substituted.
Last season in a Championship Team that finished 5th he started 23 out of 26 matches, and came on as a sub in one of the other matches. I think in his time at Arbroath he has only ever missed a handful of matches due to injury and almost been an ever present.
With only 3 fit outfield substitutes last week surely Carlo's arrival is another option for Dick to call on. All the players are putting in a hell of a shift right now, especially the midfielders who are chasing every ball in every half, so fresh legs to help dig in will be always welcome. Carlo seemed to play out wide for BSC Glasgow and grabbed a couple of goals as well.
You could see just how much 12 minutes of a debut meant to Lewis Moore by his performance on the pitch and his reaction on social media. I think a lot of young players will be delighted to be involved in a match day squad rather than just waiting for a moment with a Premiership side.

Simon, as always I agree with most of your points, but Mark Millar didn't invent or has nothing to do with Pixellot. I'm pretty sure all he has done has just bought the camera system for Albion Rovers to use to stream their games.

I am sure LeodhasXD and Skyline Drifter have both mentioned in the thread about streaming matches that Pixellot cameras were meant to be installed last season at all Championship clubs by the SPFL but the Pandemic stopped that. I believe that League 1 and League 2 have to invest in the system themselves, so Mark Millar had donated the camera Albion Rovers which was then picked up by the mainstream media as a nice local boy comes back from Hollywood type of story that everyone loves!

A fantastic evening for a true Lichtie Legend who has been not only at the Club for 11 seasons now.
The Ricky Little Testimonial Dinner will be held at the Dundee Apex Hotel on Sunday 24th March with a welcome drink served at 7pm.
Bill Leckie is the emcee and will also be speaking with Jim Leishman also speaking. Two great speakers and ones not been heard recently locally for a wee while.
