  1. The correct answers. Close thread.
  2. Shush! I get its not a team fondly remembered - hoping someone is a collector and is just keen. The Semi- Final was a great comeback at least.
  3. Hi everyone. I am lucky to have been given a framed and signed Hibs top from the 2013 Scottish Cup final. This was donated by the club, as I am looking to raise funds for a local brass band. The Dalkeith and Monktonhall Brass Band rehearse in Prestonpans, and have a history tied to both the Dalkeith Burgh band and the Monktonhall ‘pit’ band. Until the 80s/90s (and the closure of coal pits), Brass bands were synonymous with miners and predominantly based in mining towns. In March, Dalkeith and Monktonahall placed second in the 1st Section Scottish Championships, and have as a result been promoted to the top ‘league’ of banding for the first time in ten years, as well as being invited to represent Scotland at the British Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham in September. The band is made up of amateur musicians who all pay an annual subscription to help with the running of the band – rehearsal space, heating, electricity, conductors fees, instruments, music, insurance etc. We perform concerts throughout the year and also help at local community gala days. It will cost the band around £10,000 to go to Cheltenham and the players will be asked to help with a lot of this cost. We are also trying to fundraise as much as we can. That brings me to the signed Hibs top. I know it may not be too desirable as we lost the final, but at least it wasn’t from 2012! I am hoping there is maybe a collector out there who would like to have it – it really is presented quite nicely. I am holding a silent auction for it. If you are interested in bidding and helping out a local band and charity – that would be great. I do have a ‘reserve’ on it, and if that isn’t met it will be entered into a wider raffle including other prizes like overnight stays at Archerfield and a fourball at Duddingston Golf course. If you want to bid please send me a direct message with your name and bid, and I will post in here when the deadline of 31st May is over. Hopefully we make the reserve and someone gets what is a great collectors item as a Hibs fan!
  4. Thanks everyone. Don’t post here often but read a lot and it’s nice to share good news - a lot of the posts in this thread have been great help over the pregnancy. wife in till tomorrow so I’m off for a beer with my dad and brothers and a few pals to wet the baby’s head.
  5. Baby Hughie born last night the 22.2.22 via emergency c section after 15 hours of labour. Everyone well and I’m in love. 7lbs 12.
  6. Waters broke at midnight last night. Came into hospital this morning around 11 and moved from Triage to ward a few hours back. Wife has very high blood pressure which they can’t seem to bring down so they are keeping her and are going to induce labour this afternoon. Bit of a slog ahead and I’m allowed in from 8am until 10pm each day.
  7. No baby yet. Trying to keep my wife’s spirits up but she’s pretty tetchy which is totally understandable. Hoping for some movement this weekend.
  8. Funnily enough we do have a sweep going at fiver a skull and its date, weight and name. Closest takes the pot.
  9. You may not be wrong. No movement yet, just trying to make sure she isn't too uncomfortable. The dog definitely knows something is up - hes taken to leaning his chin on her stomach area on the couch.
  10. My wife is due our first today. She had a sweep and there is some cramping but no signs of labour yet. It’s a real mixture of nerves/excitement/worrying about mum and boy being healthy. Overall I can’t wait though - this is the hardest part now - the waiting.
  11. Bassey should have had a second yellow for simulation which would have been embarrassing given the score.
  12. Jammy b*****ds with toss again.
  13. Pick then Sack then pick. People think this sport is boring. More fool them.
  14. The Diallo chant to voulez vouz is fine, but they are singing the tune wrong in the last syllable of his name and it’s annoying me more than it should.
  15. Don’t post often - but read most match threads. Delighted for Ryan Porteous. Goal aside - he was excellent. I don’t know the poster’s name but theres an Aberdeen fan who has an unhealthy obsession with him - GIRUY.
  16. It’s taken me a few weeks to twig, but I used to deal with this guy in one of his previous jobs. I seen the name be announced as new manager but I actually cannot believe it’s the same guy. The company he worked for at the time LOVED all this nonsense. Their product (mainly for the US market) was a colour system for evaluating your employees so you could manage them better. Red for fiery and blue for cool etc. They would sell workshops and surveys to big businesses like standard life and middle management would use it to evaluate their staff from the survey/questionnaire. he worked in the internal recruitment team and I remember from his LinkedIn him playing some footy at a decent level in the late 90s but I genuinely am gobsmacked he is the manager of a top flight team in Scotland. Astounding. I almost want to say fair play for bullshitting his way into such a position - but I wouldn’t be happy as a united fan. Oh, and he always used too many words…
  17. Many reasons. If they are currently paying you an agreed hourly/daily rate straight into a personal bank account, they could be liable for unpaid tax. Also insurance - very unlikely but if you bring down an entire server or break something whilst on-site - you are not covered under their company insurance policy. They are getting all the benefit of an employee without having to pay employers national insurance or pay for your holidays/trips to the dentist. Have you negotiated for more money than you would have been on perm? Are you working full time hours? Sounds like you could maybe work through an umbrella if you really can't be arsed starting a company. They will charge for the service but make sure you pay all the right taxes etc.
  18. OK good news on the IR35 front. You can ask about working as a sole trader but its incredibly risky for a company to engage sole traders v ltd company contractors so they may say no. You said its kind of geeky what you do - is it something in IT? On where your money goes - I meant more on whether it was a business bank account or personal bank account. I could then make suggestions about expenses and also explain that VAT registration may be beneficial even if you don't go above threshold to mean you have to be VAT registered.
  19. Happy to advise on this but there are a few things I would need to know advance: Is the work you are doing classed as outside or inside the IR35 regulations? (If the company is small enough this won't matter) Where does the money for what you do currently go? Will you earn enough (77k in a year) to have to register your company for VAT? It sounds like they want you to set up a ltd company which is fair enough. Its easily done and can either be done through a local accountant or through one of the larger accountancy/umbrella firms.
  20. This is absolutely enthralling. There will be movies made about this. The Robinhood tactics are appalling - a class action lawsuit has been filed but I don't think they will get very far. Robinhood sell their data to hedgefunds - that's their business model. The fund they sell to have just loaned one of the failing hedgefunds 2.5 billion and they are trying to drive the price through the floor. A lot of short positions in AMC expire tomorrow so it could explode - I have 90 shares and holding.
