  1. Can't make this today but my brother has told me that he's going (he lives near Hampden). Got the fear now as I don't think he's seen us win since he was in his teens.
  2. Hell of a shiner, that. Walking with his head tilted back just to be able to see.
  3. We did a swap deal with Celtic - they got Roy Baines, we got Andy Ritchie plus cash. When Latchford and Bonner became the main Celtic keepers, we got Baines back for nothing.
  4. 43 years ago today this happened, and Benny Rooney's Morton knocked Fergie's Aberdeen out of the Scottish Cup.
  5. Events definitely conspired against us, although the opening game loss went a long way. Even so, we had chances to go through if other results put us as one of the best 3rd placed teams - We needed Germany to beat Colombia, preferably by more than 1 goal. Colombia scored an injury time equaliser. We then needed South Korea to take a point off Uruguay. After the main live game, the cameras switched and showed us the final minute of injury time - in that moment Uruguay scored the only goal of the game. We needed both England v Egypt and Ireland v Netherlands to finish 1-0 to someone. For a while, England and Netherlands were 1-0 up and we were heading for a draw of lots with Austria. Then Ireland equalised and it was officially over.
  6. As soon as Hearts' 4th went in on Sunday I texted my dad to say that we'd be playing them at Scapa. The reply was "just like old times". Very clear memories of the games in the late 70s early 80s - always close affairs (except for the League Cup double header when Hearts let us cuff them twice to get our 78-79 season off the ground). Played them eight times that season yet this is the first time we will have met at Cappielow (in a competitive fixture) with fans in attendance since the 0-0 draw in on Boxing Day 1987 (one of the most entertaining goalless games I've ever seen). Cannot wait for this game.
  7. No to all of that. Instead, have it begin earlier in the season and have absolutely EVERYONE in the country in the hat in the first round, juniors, amateurs, the lot. And bring back replays and second replays at neutral venues.
  8. Just watched the QP highlights. Might have been skewed a little but Dunfermline looked worse than last week.
  9. Last night was tremendous. Great to see such a unified home support (the clubs' social media has definitely played its part here) being rewarded by the team delivering the good on the park. Everyone played well, but I have to single out Alan Power and Iain Wilson for their efforts. Wilson was incredible and Power stuck to his job brilliantly despite being on a booking. Agree with the comment above about Cammy Blues too. The game itself wasn't a classic but it was odd to feel early on that we were not going to be overwhelmed by Motherwell and the usual hard luck story didn't ever feel like emerging. I had no idea how we scored the 1st at the time but seeing it now it's a howler from Kelly. Lovely finish by big Gorgeous for the 2nd. Fair play to the police and stewards - the tactic last night seemed to be "let the fans do whatever the f**k they want as long at there's no fighting" - summed up by the guy walking out of the Cowshed behind me at the end, openly drinking a can of Stella. Pity about the knob-end with the laser pen. I hope that the next round doesn't give us a tie with a limited support. Anyone at home would be ideal.
  10. This is honking, and yet it’s the only game so far tonight to produce a goal.
