  1. Mariners, looking like they can clutch defeat from the jaws of victory this past week. Lost 4 whilst the Texas Buns win 3. I feel sick!
  2. I'm also deflated, you know what South Africa are going to do, and they did it in spades. They butchered us at the breakdown, pressure at every ruck, we fronted up pretty well, but never really had a phase where we were on top. I thought they looked tired at half time... yeah... right! I think there are some positives, but we'll need to be at our best, in every game now. Anyway, cmon the Fiji!
  3. England absolutely bullied Argentina.
  4. Not for the first time! Don’t get me started on the queues at the post office and boogie woogie music!
  5. The more I see that Curry incident, the angrier I get! Have people never played rugby?
  6. Ford (who I think is an absolute fairy) is bossing this. England look good IMHO.
  7. That’s more of a red than Curry. He was never getting to that kick, hadn’t even jumped when Ford had kicked it. The tackle laws are fvkcking arse!
  8. Utter bollocks to that as a red!
  9. Orioles topping the AL East is amazing, given how strong that division is. I mean, it's ridiculous that the worst ranked team (Yankees, urgh spit) are .500. If the Red Sox (some fifteen games back on the Orioles) were in the AL Central, they'd only be one game back and looking for an automatic route to the post-season! All I hope is that none of the Forces of Darkness (Astros, Braves, Dodgers) prevail, and one of the mighty Cubs/Mariners/Orioles/Phillies prevail. Everyone else falls into the meh bucket. Yours aDONis
  10. I guess it's all about expectations, but I was quite pleased with our performance last night. After seeing the absolutely car-crash performance v St Mirren, I was delighted to see the press and the energy v a very decent team (which had the stand out player, who scored a bit of a worldy to boot). Make no bones about it, last night was partly coulda, woulda, shoulda (for both teams). At times we had them rattled and at other times, they almost picked us off (even if you discount the the goals they did score ). I'd much rather we took some chances, than the awful 'try to contain' a la Celtic last season. Over the tie, they deserved it, but had we taken our chances and gone through, nobody would have complained. Perform like that week-in, week-out, and we'll be do well IMHO. Yours, cup half full for a change. aDONis
  11. I'm obviously in a minority of one, but I've been quite pleased with Aberdeen. Their front three have looked proper quality and the second goal was a joy to watch. We're chasing the game so are going to be vulnerable when we lose possession. If we play with anything like this intensity for the rest of the year, we'll be OK.
  12. England have some absolutely cracking players. Some are, as others have said, getting older. I rate both Joe Marler and Dan Cole, but they're not the future and they're not dynamic enough. They are scrummaging machines. Looking through that line up at the weekend, there isn't really a bad player there. I particularly like Ludlum, I think he's a fvkking menance and should get more game-time. Having watched the game back, I think England simply got their tactics wrong. 1) England don't have much invention. It's all very well picking Ford/Smith, but if you're going to play Tuilagi and Lawrence outside them, defences know what's coming. To mix it up, Ford/Smith should be taking some more risk, by playing the wider miss-pass (a la Russell) but they just didn't pull the trigger often enough (and their wingers didn't get involved enough either) . I also don't think either of them take the ball to the line and look for the off-load enough (in fact, I think my major critisisms of both Ford and Smith, is that they are powder-puff in both inviting the tackle and in delivering a tackle). 2) I know it rained and they (England) wanted to play in Fiji's half, but Ford kicked the ball pretty badly, and invited Fiji's runners back onto England. Now Fiji may have tempered their 'fling-it-about' tactics, but if you keep giving them broken field opportunities, they will punish you. All that having been said, I still expect them to make the semis, such is the disparity between the two halves of the draw! Yours aDONis
  13. I like the Lionesses. I also like the Spanish. They stayed in Marlow for the Euros and were very nice. My daughter had a summer job at their hotel, and she said they were so nice to her, that she started supporting them (she was born in Wycombe)! I'll be honest and say that I think I prefer the atmosphere at womens tournaments. May the best team win!
  14. As the resident 'tackle-law' carmudgeon, even I thought Farrells tackle was poor, definitely yellow and not surprised it was later converted to a red. That being said, I thought that 6 games would have been harsh, but I'm suprised it's been completely overturned (I'd have given 6 reduced to 3 for some made up nonsense). I'm a big advocate of being more lenient when looking for mitigating factors. I could see a bit of movement that might have helped Farrell, but I struggled to really see enough in that tackle to completely overturn the bunker decision. If they both make it to the quarter finals, it should be interesting. Yours aDONis
  15. Lidl are on fire at the moment. Loch Lomond brewery and Stewart’s brewery, being promoted down here in Englandshire. i picked up a selection and first one was Zoom Time NEIPA. What a stunner. So good I immediately went back and bought a case of it.
  16. Absolutely bonkers decision. Slade is a class act, a beautiful player to watch. England signalling that they will play off 10 with a bish-bosh at 12 and another bish-bosh at 13, until that doesn't work and then they'll sub in Anthony Watson for the last 5 mins. Also, much though I like Marcus Smith, he's not impressed me recently at international level, plus he's absolutely powder puff in the tackle and makes George Ford look like Drax the Destroyer! With that England squad, I'd have Farrel at 10 and simply let him kick the shyt out of the ball for others to chase. Re: Scotland, I love this team. A special shout-out to the much maligned Blair Kinghorn, he's a world class full-back and on current form, I'd have picked him above Hogg in any case. Yours aDONis
  17. I am beginning to worry, that I don't know what the fvk I'm doing!
  18. I have only once managed to vote for a successful candidate in my life (in a GE). First GE I was eligible to vote in was 87 (the constituency of my birth Aberdeen South went Labour from Tory yay)! Unfortunately I'd moved down to London in '86 and was living in East Finchley but my constituency was Wood Green, where my vote was wasted in opposition to Sir Hugh Rossi (Tory) . Still it could have been worse, one road further north or west and I'd have had Thatcher! After college I lived in Acton, West London which was... you guessed it, 1992 Tory i However I was still there in '97 and went full champagne socialist in the Blair landslide... THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTEEEER! In 2000 I moved to Marlow and '01 Tory, '05 Tory, '10 Tory '15 Tory '17 Tory '19 Tory So as the Yanks would say, I'm one for nine! (and when I say Yanks, that includes my current MP and waste of Oxygen, Joy Morrisey) Yours, Citizen aDONis The people's flag is deepest red...
  19. I could well be one of them... Kid Starver's labour give me the boak! I'm really hoping that Lib Dems or Greens are main opponents in my constituency (Beaconsfield). Over the last three elections, runners up have been; 2019 Ex-Tory, Dominic Grieve (running as an independant) Lost by 16k 2017 Labour - Lost by 24k 2015 UKIP - Lost by 26k 2010 Lib Dems - Lost by 22k I've got a horrible feeling that it's going to be a battle between Tory and Tory Lite though .
  20. Maybe it’s as simple as the bottom having fallen out of the Jewish Teeth market!
  21. It sounds good, but it's not true. Marginal rates for high earners were set at 50% (now 45%) under Gordon Brown in 2009. In addition the Personal Income limit has been raised to £100,000 from circa £30k, so middle earners now get to keep their personal allowances (so effectively gaining on the margins). Taxes are a blunt instrument though, we do need to raise them on middle and high income tax payers, but we also need to go after wealth, so establishing levies on wealth and assets (particularly those owned by anonymous offshore entities).
  22. Of course the mighty-mighty Dons, achieved the never to be repeated feat of; being runners-up in both the Scottish Cup and League Cup (qualifying for Europe in the process), whilst finishing 10th out of er.. 10 in the league. Our season of 'thanks for turning up' was only blighted by winning the 'League reconstruction and stadium criteria challenge trophy' (for which we didn't even need to turn up). Yours, ah the glory days! aDONis
  23. I have nothing against County, I think they are a fine club, but I have a soft spot for Partick Jagalonians. I had one of the best times watching football, when watching the Jags beat the HIVs on the day before the League Cup Final v Caley. Every single supporter that day was brilliant with us. So C'mon the Jags! Yours, tonight Mathew I will be... Mary from Maryhill
  24. Well done to whore fc, I’ve always liked you when you’re playing in a cup final that could directly benefit my club. Don’t you worry about what the yo-yo clubs think! Those skid marks can f**k off to the seaside leagues where they belong (and often reside).
