  1. Thought it was for the best. I would be surprised if there is more than one other this week although there appears to be a lot of movement in the market generally as loan deals start to get done in Scotland. BTW, Rangers were 'difficult' over this Maxwell signing, as usual. I think it was agreed last week but they didn't want to let him go until after the weekend (because they had three games - don't think he featured in any of them), then even though he signed after training yesterday they wouldn't confirm when we could announce it... then just went ahead and did it this morning before us via their B Team/Youth Academy account - really frustrating but not much Ayr can do about it.
  2. I wasn't sure either until the Hamilton game. In the system versus Accies the two wide players - Salkeld and McKenzie - were asked to put in a hell of a shift, supporting Tomi Adeloye in attack and dropping back to cover the full-backs out of possession. Hell of a shift. Would expect Maxwell to do a better job than McKenzie in that role on the left.
  3. I'd take it if meant no longer having to read all the pish in the Official account mentions tbf...
  4. I think it is just an issue of timing. Burnley only had a squad of 14 signed players on Saturday plus six trialists (seven u23 players remained with the first team). Clearly they are going to need to increase that squad of 21 players before allowing too many out on loan. There was a good article in the Athletic on Monday about there being a lot of transition within the Academy at Burnley - both in terms of players and staff - so probably just need to wait a bit longer until things fall into place.
  5. We're only talking Moore, Todd, McCowan and Walsh - it's only McCowan who has turned down a decent contact offer and he's gone to the Premiership. Not that strange, really.
  6. Was quite clearly not effective... with players Mark Kerr signed to play a different style of play and who clearly didn't want to play for Hopkin. He's just signed three players who have all said they do want to play for him. So that's a cause for optimism.
  7. Thanks mate. Hadn't heard the McGinty rumour. Is he any good?
  8. Not disputing those players have missed some games (but only Moore, Walsh, Houston and Wright for an extended period) but I can't agree this is one of the worst for a long while in that regard. McCall's whole tenure was typified by the players being run into the ground by January. Mark and Mick actually did a decent job keeping players fit, managing injuries and not rushing players back too quickly.
  9. Yeah I am in no way having a go at Kitty_Boy, he's done exactly what was asked of him. The issue is with the unprofessional outlook it gives when local journos are tweeting about vital information. Fans want to know ASAP and they found out from a reliable source (VoR). It just so happened it couldn't be confirmed 'officially' until later that day. Maybe not ideal but I don't necessarily agree it is unprofessional. Its far from unusual in the world of football that things like this are common knowledge before they are announced.
  10. It wasn't official until Aston Villa confirmed the extent of the injury and the termination of the loan deal at 4.30pm.
  11. Are you using this link? https://tv.alloaathletic.co.uk/
  12. Jonatan Johansson was interviewed and impressed last time round. Not sure where the idea came from that there could be an appointment before this weekend or even before the deadline for applications on Monday. Thursday next week most likely, all going to plan.
  13. "It's run its course and its not really worked out. It's not down to us, I know that and Aberdeen know that. We'll move on and bring someone else in. There needs to be more effort for the team". Anderson didn't suit our system and that increasingly was evident in his application, attitude and, ultimately, his goal return. It was absolutely the right thing to send him back to Aberdeen and anything he goes on to in his career won't change that.
  14. There is no planning application to develop houses on the car park at Somerset. A Proposal of Application Notice was submitted to the Council in March 2019 by Allanvale, which effectively just indicates an intention to carry out pre-application consultation as is required for a Major planning application. I don't know whether the consultation took place but it certainly hasn't been followed up with a planning application.
  15. Not sure I've ever seen Jimmy Kirkwood at Somerset Park. As far as I'm aware his only ever input into the club was to buy the car park, which averted a financial crisis at the time.
  16. Yeah. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/ayrshire/falkirk-3-ayr-united-2-22747566
  17. Thanks SD... I'll take from the length of your two replies there is a need for some more clarity And as far as I'm concerned, Ayr haven't confirmed non child season ticket holders will get free access to home streams.
  18. This is partly an issue of lack of communication from my club, but, for a start, I don't know what the rules are, so clarity on them. And clarity on whether I'll be able to watch away games; away fans, I presume, will be the last the be allowed back into grounds, so that seems pretty important to me. I also don't know for certain as a season ticket whether I'll be entitled to stream home games as part of that season ticket if games are behind closed doors. It seems obvious that will be the case, but it hasn't been explicitly stated by the club. Then what happens when some fans are allowed? Say 500. Then 1000. These are scenarios that some planning could be undertaken and communicated to supporters. And I know it is absolutely pie in the sky to think the Championship clubs might come together and learn from the fragmented mess of the Premiership and offer something better to Championship (away) fans - single platform, consistent pricing structure etc. but I can but hope.
