  1. Hurlford v Rob Roy is an EARLY KICK OFF at 1pm. Ford Bar in the ground open from 11am.
  2. Squeaky bum time at Blair Park after the Ford were reduced to ten men (second yellow for Ryan Caddis) and Ryan Stevenson's late penalty reduced the deficit. However, Liam Caddis' first half opener and Tiny Watt's looping header were enough to secure a deserved victory.
  3. They did. Thought they were decent at Beechwood on Saturday too. Liked the way McCann and McAndrew(?) combine. At times last night I thought it looked like the dead rubber it was. Hurlford had two golden opportunities first half, but didn't take them. Glen's were probably the better side overall and deserved the victory.
  4. Even more impressive when you consider the entire squad were U17 the previous season. However, they are a separate club and not part of Hurlford United.
  5. Don't know about signing 6 from U21s. New signings GK Martin McDonald and Mick Wardrope (6) are both 22, I think. Callan Veith from Hurlford U19s was on the bench. Last night's goalscorer, Jack Whittaker and Adam Hodge & Sam Lidington (both currently injured) are in their 3rd seasons at Blair Park and are all still only 21/22, so our average age has been slowly creeping down over the past few seasons. But as Alan Hansen knows, you can't win anything with kids [emoji12] [emoji12]
  6. Fair appraisal. Thought Eddie Fearns looked dangerous and Meggat looks classy. A few hefty challenges that might have seen cards on another day, but a real good cup tie. Had a look around the ground before hand and the improvements are great. Really like the bar and the area in front of it. Crowd was excellent. 600+ paid to get in and there were loads of kids, so crowd was probably around 750. Best of luck to Darvel for the season.
  7. Hurlford were asked if they were ok with free entry for U12s. They said YES.Later that day they were asked if they were ok with free entry for U16s. Again, they said YES. I would be amazed if Talbot responded differently as, to my knowledge, they never have when Hurlford have asked them. But PLEASE don't let the facts cloud your judgement in the blame game. FYI Hurlford have free entry for 16 and under at all home league games and home cup ties where the opposition agrees. They always agree to the same rules when playing away in cup ties. I understand it becomes tricky in the Scottish Cup when the association gets a share of gates. If a club allows UNACCOMPANIED young children into the ground the question of Duty of Care becomes more complicated and therefore it makes sense to give the gate officials some element of control should, for example, a 13yo arrive with younger kids in tow without any adult supervision. Good look at ourselves over.
  8. I'm going to check them at the same time [emoji102]
  9. I thought several of the changes were good, but I agree that the new handball interpretation will cause confusion. Hopefully in a years time we'll be wondering what all the fuss was about and be able to just get on with playing fitba!
  10. Annbank V Hurlford Thistle is OFF according to Twitter.
  11. He's been at Hurlford United since February/March 2018.
  12. Liam Caddis got the Hurlford consolation from the penalty spot. Ford were poor and looked more like a team at the beginning of pre-season rather than the end. Kilsyth looked well organised and were very solid at the back. Thoroughly deserved their victory. Good luck to them for the season.
  13. Select the post. Hit moderate icon (wee spanner). Choose DELETE. It used to be more obvious [emoji23]
  14. I was quite impressed by Whitletts. They got the ball down on the floor and tried to play football, although maybe a wee bit too much at times at the back. I like big Walsh and Stewart Davidson is a good player. Mick Reilly could score 15 to 20 goals for you IMO, especially with Patterson to create chances. Best of luck for the season.
  15. Couldn't have put it better. Thoughts are with his family & friends. RIP [emoji885]️[emoji885]️
  16. HURLFORD UNITED (3) 6 Whittaker (28, 44, 80) Ryan Caddis (38, 81) Paul McKenzie (70) WHITLETTS VICTORIA (1) 2 Louis Kerr (10) Donovan (75)
  17. That's a good shout KP. Sectional League Cup group games where all clubs are local might be the way to target local foodbanks.
  18. Thoughts are with family and friends at this sad time. RIP [emoji885]️
  19. The lad in the picture is Steven Currie. He was Hurlford Thistle's top scorer last season and was capped (and scored) for the Scotland Amateur XI. He is pacy and strong and knows where the goals are. I would expect him to do well in League One.
  20. Stewart was at Blair Park before he moved up the valley, but he was never going to move Taz McKenzie, Danny Mitchell or Paul Cameron from the starting XI so struggled for game time. Four years on I'm sure he will be an asset to your squad.
  21. Fixtures a bit skewed because the sectional league cup group is so competitive.
  22. Wasn't at the game, but according to others, the free kick for the opening goal caused some dugout debate [emoji23]
  23. Avoiding the obvious in the top two leagues, I'll go for each way alternatives: Beith or Glenafton Peasy or Gartcairn Ardrossan WR Johnstone Burgh
