  1. I live near ibrox (unfortunately) and the pubs I asked on Paisley Road West today don't have viaplay
  2. Does anyone know which pubs in Glasgow have viaplay and will definitely be showing the Scotland game? Myself and a few friends were wanting to go somewhere to watch it
  3. Recently sky started changing their formation graphics to include Stones and Trent in defensive mid in front of a back 3 despite both actually playing right back in your eyes They're playing both defensive midfield and fullback depending on the phase of play, Zinchenko only really pops up at left back when arsenal haven't had the ball for 30 seconds or so of play, which isn't very often.
  4. He's right though, Zinchenko spends far more time in the defensive midfield area of the pitch than the left back area. Tierney was even doing the same in a couple of game he came off the bench and you could see it didn't suit him at all.
  5. I see his position in the squad as back up to MacGregor as a deep playmaking 6, so not necessarily creative in terms of racking up assists and creating chances.
  6. Don't think so unfortunately, as FIFA don't class the games as competitive for some reason, so points gained from wins are limited
  7. Are Christie and Armstrong on the bench for if we sub McLean?
  8. Seen rumours that he's starting as well, will be absolutely delighted for him to win his first cap. One performance against Rangers aside he's been excellent in big games for hibs so I expect him to step up to the plate tonight if he is starting. Think he will suit playing against Ukraine's mobile forwards more than Gallagher who I'd prefer if Ukraine were playing with a big target man to hold the ball up. Wonder if he will be on the right or in the middle of the back 3 though, assuming Hendry and Kingsley are the other CBs. He's a bit bigger and stronger than Hendry so you'd possibly have him in the middle, but that could be a lot of pressure for his first cap, if he plays on the right then there's a bit more leeway if he loses the ball or makes a positional mistake. He's also been one of the best chance creators in the league so far this season so if he plays on the right then we can potentially use his press resistance and strong passing to good effect, although these are qualities that Hendry has too tbf.
  9. Just had a look at their current squad and didn't realise quite how bad it is. Just about everyone apart from the young goalie, coleman and Duffy are playing in the championship. Scotland never make it easy and I'm sure it will be a tough game, but on paper we should really be winning this comfortably
  10. Think nations league goes to head to head over goal difference, so it should do.
  11. Bet we'll end up winning the nations league group now, then getting Sweden as our third seeds for qualifying
  12. Was absolutely dreadful against St Mirren and in the league cup games, but he's played well in all the other league games imo. His ball retention hasn't been great but I think Johnson has been telling him to take more risks with his passing. The red card that got us the win against Killie came from a lovely ball he played in over the top to Boyle.
  13. Would like to see that too but can't see Clarke going for it tbh. My strongest XI assuming we keep the back 3/5 would be Gordon Souttar-McKenna-Tierney Patterson-McTominay-McGregor-Robertson McGinn-Christie Adams gives us some decent like for like back ups with everyone fit: Clarke Hendry-Hanley-Cooper Ramsay/Ralston-Jack/Ferguson-Gilmour-Hickey/Taylor Brown-Armstrong Dykes
  14. I've never been Clarke out and still amn't, but watching Australia Peru just now makes me really wish he was a bit more adventurous and forward thinking. Peru are a decent side but Australia are throwing men forward every time they have the ball with both wingers pushing right up with the two strikers, Irvine making late runs into the box from deep and both fullbacks stepping up. There's no reason we can't do this a bit more against sides around our level. We have a much better squad than Ireland currently and about the same as Ukraine if you look at the level of the clubs that the starting XIs play for. But against both teams we played a very deep defence that dropped straight into a flat low block back 5 every time we lost the ball with two sitting midfielders. With everyone so deep our only build up play if Robertson can't get space on the left is to lump it to Adams or Dykes. Watching Australia just now they look a much better side than us, but a lot of their players wouldn't get near our starting XI just now and possibly not even the squad: Irvine, Mooy, Maclaren, Atkinson - even Boyle wasn't being considered when he was first hitting form for Hibs.
  15. Could have done with an extra couple for goal difference, winning the group would be massive.
  16. Some of his shot stopping was amazing last night, but lets not forget he almost cost us two goals from his lack of ability with the ball at his feet. If Austria had been slightly luckier with the bounce of the ball when he messed up two passes then it would have finished 4-2 and we'd all be slating him.
  17. I'm biased but I honestly think this has been blown way out of proportion by the *** loving media following the Aribo tackle. Over the past 18 months ago he's really screwed the nut and almost completely cut out the rash tackles and violent outbursts.
  18. Cooper is left footed so would have to go into the middle, with Hanley moving to the right. A lot of the success of the current system has been down to the RCB being very comfortable on the ball, be it McTominay Hendry or Souttar. Hanley has played extremely well for Scotland as the limited ball winner in the middle of the three, but his touch, passing, dribbling and general technique isn't good enough for him to play on the right in our current system imo.
  19. Has Naismith been poor for yous? I always quite rated him at Hibs - initially preferred him to McGinn when they both first signed.
  20. Would rather have seen Hickey coming on at left back for the last few
  21. Forgot about that incident tbf, my subconscious must have chose to selectively forget it xD He is definitely still guilty of the odd rash challenge, but I feel it's been made out to be a bigger weakness of his game than it actually is, particularly after the aribo tackle. As someone who watches him every week, in the last 18 months or so most of the mental aspects of his game have really been improving
  22. I'm obviously biased as a hibs fan, but that's a nonsense take. Point me in the direction of any violent incidents or dangerous tackles that have gone unpunished since the Barisic incident in winter 2019? That side of his game has matured since then. Debates over the Aribo tackle have been done to death, but I'm still not convinced it was a red and that's been his only other sending off since then.
  23. I'm the same - right footed centre back, have played right back several times no bother but my few games at left back have mostly been horror shows. But these issues that you bring up with body shape, muscle memory etc. are mainly down to us being predominantly one footed imo - we're used to jockeying showing players onto our stronger side, dribbling with our stronger foot on the outside away from players closing us down, knowing how to get the ball onto our strong foot easily before playing a long pass etc. In my eyes when a player is fully ambidextrous these issues may not be completely removed, but they are far less of a problem compared to a player who is more one footed. Wingers swap sides all the time without this debate, I really think the risk of playing Hickey at right wing back is very minimal particularly when we play a back 3/5.
  24. I wouldn't go that far, usually when a fullback plays on their weaker side they seem less confident in the tackle and more uneasy/clunky in possession (still have nightmares about Stevenson's run at right back for hibs). However that is down to them normally being predominantly one footed, not due to it being a new position for them to learn, so we wouldn't have that issue with Hickey imo.
  25. What further aspects are there if you are equally strong both feet? Its the exact same position and he'll be doing the exact same things during different phases of play etc.
