  1. Am I right in saying that the death penalty is one of those cases where public opinion is just wrong, and therefore should be ignored? I think if we had a referendum in Britain I reckon it would pass - but there never will be one. As plenty of others have pointed out already, it's just wrong. It's a natural and understandable policy but it's just wrong.
  2. It's weird how quickly the Rays have fallen off a cliff - long may it continue. As a Yankee fan, the sweep of the Royals was very much needed, especially with Rizzo going 4 for 4 today.
  3. Sorry for being late to the party but how much did we get for Dipo - or does no-one have a clue? If Amartey seems to be more of a winger, presumably we're still hunting for a striker??
  4. Did Ayr win the penalty shoot-out on Saturday after scraping a draw? I couldn't find the result (and it doesn't seem to be on the Ayr website). With tonight's narrow win it puts us in pole position to qualify - happy days. Not that our squad looks up to it but hey ho - we'll take it!
  5. So has the name been released on Twitter yet or is still a big secret?
  6. I've not been on this thread since the Partick nightmare so can anyone sum up where we're at? Have I missed anything big? Dipo still with us and no major signings?
  7. We don't need an early goal. We're just need to be winning at half time. If there's 20 minutes to go and we're one up then three pressure might build, and they might get a bit nervous. All you hope for is going 2 in front in round about the 85th minute. That would lead to a brilliant last 10.
  8. You had an epiphany that Ayr United sometimes go through bad patches and struggle to win games? f**k me, what a vision that must've been. Where we are right now is so much better than in many recent years. There's a team on the pitch and a team off the pitch doing everything they can to build for something even better. But we finished 2nd in a very competitive championship with a smaller budget than many rivals. I want to applaud the team for a great effort this season, and hopefully cheer them on to an even better one next season. It's what supporting your local team is all about. There's also the tiny chance of witnessing one of the greatest nights in the club's history (which is not nothing).
  9. This would've been said about the lad we had before him (and I've genuinely already forgot his name).
  10. Hate to be pedantic but the 6 weeks from the end of October and through November we were unbeaten, with 5 wins and 2 draws (including away to Inverness). It was mid December when we struggled to put together wins. I'll be very disappointed if there's not at least 3000 Ayr fans on Friday night. Aye Thistle will travel in numbers but we should have a great home crowd for this game.
  11. There's more negativity than I expected on this thread. The season as a whole was a weekly pleasant surprise. The number of posters on here predicting doom with our manager and squad at the start of the season was probably in the majority. Yes things hit the buffers hard after Christmas and the Falkirk game was a massive disappointment - but the team dug it out up in Inverness and got us an unexpected 2nd place finish. Friday hurt bad. Really bad. But for me there's much more optimism than is being shown in here. We've got a huge asset up front, and a manager that's proved he can build a good team out of not much. Off the pitch there's a lot of good things happening too. I'm going along on Friday to thank the players for a great season, and with that tiny kernel of hope that something insane might happen if we're leading at half time (atmosphere and fear can have big effects).
  12. Apologies as I've not been on this thread for ages but is there any chance we keep dipo? And are we selling at £200k? That seems a touch cheap in my book.
  13. Ayr were sharp out the traps and deservedly got the lead (albeit with a lucky deflection). But Falkirk pushing hard and probably deserve an equaliser. Bullen has to get them in and get them going again. Mackenzie has been non existent, and I'd be tempted to bring on jml. That might be too attacking for bullen, though. And I wonder how fit Murdoch is,? His experience could be pretty useful in there.
  14. McGinty can be such a liability. I'd much prefer Kirk.
  15. There's never been a commentator or pundit who doesn't generate seethe. I've got no issue with McLeod and ok think faddy is actually pretty likeable. Great start from Ayr, hopefully we get another whilst we're on top. And yes, the flares can get in the sea.
  16. I didn't expect 1250 sold already - that's really impressive. I'm still swithering. It's about an hour away from me and as far as I can see I can bring my kids for free (u12s free when you buy an adult ticket - very cool). My health isn't great and the weather is ridiculously wet but I know we don't get many games like this - I'll make a decision late on. Either way - come on Ayr.
  17. They've pulled 5Live Sport which is pretty big. I see Jeff Stelling having a wee chuckle on Soccer Saturday. Sky Sports are loving this.
  18. Surely not? I'm waiting to see what's coming on Five Live in 10 mins. Dead air would be a laugh
  19. Anyone complaining about editing and referees are just being biased. It's clearly a red nowadays and pretty much as costly an error as you get. Afternoon ruined
  20. That's disappointing. I was hoping it was like Chris tarrant on 'who wants to be a millionaire?' when he snatched back the lower cheque - "we don't want to give you that!"
  21. I agree with your point but it's hardly pathetic. We've been second best tonight but we're up against the league leaders. We'll regroup and go again, but this probably ends our chances of winning the league. Finishing top four will be a real achievement, and you never know with the playoffs. And we're still in the cup with a great chance to reach the last 8. We just need to calm the f**k down with the extreme statements.
  22. JML looking more and more like mcdaid. Usually anonymous with the odd moment of magic.
  23. He's good at dealing with crosses into the box but we'll be much better when musonda returns. Mcginty is a decent stand in.
  24. It was the challenge from behind that was the foul. He stands on his ankle.
