Queen's Park -vs- Stenhousemuir
beaver1 replied to Francesc Fabregas's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Not quite getting the McIlduff angst. I would play Gibbons or Munro instead of McKernon, who I thought was quite disappointing on Saturday; why did he go down the tunnel when he was subbed? If O'Neill is available I guess he may come into the team instead of McLaughlin. Other than that, the team picks itself, which is probably more of a worry than anything else. -
Stenhousemuir -vs- Albion Rovers

O'Neill and McKernon were both watching the game on Saturday. I didn't see Kieran Gibbons though. Other than Scullion for Brandon (or is it Duke?) I can't see any changes. Even if O'Neill is fit I can't see how you can drop McLaughlin after his last two performances. -
Thought we did well enough yesterday after a rocky start. Really impressed with Hopkirk. Him and McGuigan could be a strong partnership. Also pleasantly surprised by Dykes who I thought is just the type of player we need. Willing to take the ball from the centre halves and able to play a forward pass. Really promising debut. And Scott Mclaughlin continues to confound me. Didn't put a foot wrong. Overall we deserved the win and were well on top in the 2nd half. Cook deserves credit for the 2nd goal , nicking it from one of Cowden's ponderous defenders, before putting in a cross one of the aforementioned slouches couldn't deal with. Their backline looked like it was running through treacle all afternoon. Real stuff starts next week though.

Can only echo what has been said. Confirmed what we know about the team in many ways. Very strong at the back - Buzz was superb. Shout out to Scott McLaughlin too. Shoving my words of concern about his signing firmly down my throat. Still look at the team and can't see much creativity thogugh, but we should be difficult to beat. We might be struggling for bodies for Saturday - a few looked pretty ragged at the end.

The rules are the rules and it appears that we have made a balls up, but I am not sure that the development fee rule was there for players moving from one league 2, part time team to another. It ends up in situations like this. Clubs can't afford to pay any transfer fee (and certainly not £10k) so they will just sign free agents, which means, unless Cowden release Swann he won't get another gig at this level. Different story if he is moving up the ladder; but he isn't and doesn't sound like he is ever likely to. Perhaps an amicable solution would be for Cowden to let him go but on the proviso they get a share of any future transfer fee, should he turn out to be a superstar. This surely applies to any player in this situation not just Swann.
