  1. Re Harkins - he can be a positive influence, but not in the position he was in yesterday. As Cove fannied about with the ball at the back, having Harkins lumber about spectating, only magnified his inadequacies. He has a great touch and he did play a couple of exquisite passes, one in particular to Spence, but playing up top, and certainly not playing up top when Biabbi and Spence had been doing just fine, is absolutely bonkers. And to keep him on the park so long.

I was not convinced by Burns, even before yesterday, but thought he was just bedding in, but that first half performance was really alarming. And why did Irons send him out at the start of the 2nd half.

We really missed Ryan Blair, and I really hope he is back soon, because that was as bad as anything McMenamin's team served up, and I thought we had seen the end of that level of performance. Hopefully a one off because we have been playing well since the turn of the year, but if we play like that for the last quarter, then we could get relegated, and even if we don't, then Irons should get his jotters given the investment that has been made in the squad. That was inexcusable yesterday.

  2. Hello lads
I love visiting Scottish grounds and will be heading up to Glasgow on Saturday to watch a match but was a bit concerned about the weather forecast.
My plan was to attend Albion Rovers v Elgin City but Albion's last home match was postponed so could that happen again on Saturday? My alternative plan was to go to Dumbarton v Raith Rovers if the Albion Rovers game is postponed. Do you think either of these games are likely to be postponed?
I will be arriving by train into Glasgow at 12pm and leaving at 6.40pm. Is there alternate matches you would recommenced if the two I've mentioned are postponed?
    Thank you

Stenhousemuir v Cove. Train to Larbert is about 30 mins from Glasgow QS. And it is an artificial pitch so should be on.
  3. Really tight game today. First half we had loads of good chances but only took one. Thought we played really well, caused Albion loads of problems and looked a good team. Still had to rely on Graeme Smith who pulled off a truly amazing save in the first half. He is a top, top keeper.

Second half we created hee haw, and while Albion didn’t create a lot they were definitely the better team. Full of admiration for them. Not the most skilful side but they give there all.

Can’t see either of these sides going down which means, I’d suggest, that Annan are Brechin’s best shot of salvation.

  4. Just now, Francesc Fabregas said:

Gary Harkins? Wouldn't have been the kind of player I'd have gone in for - he's obviously a tremendous talent and probably the most gifted at this level, but is he fit enough? And is he interested in jobbing at the bottom of League 2?

I'm not convinced but I'm very happy to be proven wrong.

    Welcome aboard!

I think he will be a great signing at this level - he strolled it when we played Thistle this season, and Queen of the South, last, but, surely it is our defence that is the biggest problem. A centre half maybe???

  5. Well, I think we have deserved to get a win like that for a few weeks, so hopefully that is a corner turned. And a clean sheet. With no Andy Munro. Not sure if it was a coincidence (maybe not) or down to the fact that the Annan frontline was so impotent. No doubt Annan are the worst I have seen (Brechin aside) and they are in the run of form we were in. It’s difficult to reverse.

Special word for Ryan Blair who was outstanding today, never mind his exceptional opening goal. Hopefully the substitution was just a precaution.

  6. Don’t think you can say Edinburgh didn’t deserve that over the 90 minutes but no doubt what the critical moment was. Munro’s header off the face of the crossbar, and before you know it the ball is up the other end and it’s 1-1.

Some more encouragement this afternoon, but if we keep conceding two goals every week then we are going to be in real danger. Interesting to see what the defence looks like next week with Munro suspended.

  7. Didn't witness the win in Elgin, but since the turn of the year, we have been performing much better than the scorelines suggest, but...we concede two goals every single game and I honestly don't think Bob Wilson will improve things. In fact I fear he will make it worse. The good news is that going forward we look dangerous and McGuigan has looked back to his best (which has coincided with the improved performances)

  8. It was very tight and I think he kept it in. There was a very similar call not long before this when McBrearty looked to have kept the ball in as he charged down a clearance. The linesman flagged it as being out despite, just like this incident that lead to the Brechin equaliser, it looking like the whole ball had not crossed the line. This caused a lot of ire (including mine) which was just exacerbated as it ultimately lead to what was a pretty significant goal in the context of the game, and potentially the season.
