  1. This is awkward. Issue is, none of the club's at this level will be prepared to pay a fee so will go elsewhere for players. Cowden end up with a player on the books they don't want and can't "sell".
  2. To be fair to Neill, he started the season covering for Jesus and Alan Reid. Got injured and wasn't the same player when he returned - not sure if there was a falling out with the manager. Good player though.
  3. excellent draw - might make a tiny amount, especially if hearts is away from home.
  4. Interesting that he can play in a back three - this was our preferred formation last season - as well as a full back. Can see why McMenamin would have been interested in him.
  5. Was a bit of an anticlimax really - we've signed the right back from a pretty mediocre League 1 team, a team we beat three times last season. However, I am sure he will be a step up from Alan Reid, so it is good news.
  6. What happens when the person contributing the money stops contributing, for whatever reason? Then the biils aren't paid, and it becomes a debt. Don't know enough about either Ross County or Kelty specific circumstances, but they are obviously being supported financially by an individual(s) as the money they spend , or are planning to spend, will be way in excess of the cash they take in the door from day to day operations - same as Gretna were.
  7. A business will go bust if it doesn't have enough cash coming in to meet its financial commitments e.g. players and management with contracts of employment. This all works fine while someone is bankrolling the club.
  8. But this is it. This is the issue in a nutshell. Gates of 300!! For fucks sake. Smell the coffee. The majority of other clubs rely on their income from operations to fund their expenditure. It’s why players in league 2 are on, if they’re lucky, £200 a week. And this is why Gretna collapsed. It is only sustainable while one individual, whoever it is, has money to spend. Or has the inclination. Or is alive. It is built on sand.
  9. We have a few signed up for next season... Graeme Smith Andy Munro David Marsh Kieran Gibbons Alan Cook Thomas Halleran Mark McGuigan
  10. Either they’ve forgotten about him, or he must have been offered a deal.
  11. It’s a fair summation. I think Sean and Ferry would do a job for us in league 2 so would be please if I heard they had re-signed. Neill’s cameo yesterday was embarrassing. Good riddance. Hurst started with a bang but withered away. Can’t believe he will get full time. Feel that league 1 is his level, but he could excel in league 2. Would be happy if it was with us. Duthie needs to smell the coffee. Wouldn’t even fancy him in our team next season. Reid - back to Albion Rovers? They are well suited. There is a good spine already signed but we need someone in midfield who can pass the ball forward, and forwards who are capable of scoring goals. In fact, just players who can show a bit of composure when offered a chance to score.
  12. No chance. Heard we are considering scratching from the competition.
  13. Trouble now. Got to hope Hurst is back on Saturday. Regardless, Mcmenamin will have to change his safety first strategy. Problem is we don't have any creative midfielders and we all know that our goals for record is not good. But two goals is not insurmountable.
  14. Given that is the formation we have been playing for weeks now then I can't see it changing. Priority will be not losing. If we do lose by any more than 1 goal then we are in trouble as we've only won one league game by more than 1 goal all season. Although we did have success in the cup by a two goal margin, I recall.
  15. Typical performance from us today. Built on a solid back line that put everything they had on the line. We really should have won but missed numerous chances in the 2nd half, which has also been typical of us unfortunately. We just can’t get goals from anyone other then McGuigan. I’m hoping the fight, desire and commitment in this team can prolong this season even more. On to Annan... Brechin were abysmal. I’ve seen us play them 3 times and each time we’ve ended up playing with 10 men and still not been beaten. Tapping in midfield was good, first half in particular, but other than that they offered nothing. We have three big centre halves who love battling for high balls. What tactic do you think Brechin employed when we went down to 10 men?
  16. This is the very reason we must do all we can to avoid relegation. Wasn't that long ago both Albion Rovers and Berwick were ahead of us terms of their league position, and look at them now.
  17. Hopefully Morgyn will be fit for the play offs... Fancy our chances against Peterhead.
  18. We have only won one league game by more than two goals all season.... As long as we beat Brechin's result on Saturday we will only need to draw the following week. I am worried thought that Raith can't be trusted.
  19. Good to see Marsh committing. He has been excellent since he returned. A lot more composed. No red cards! I expect a few of the players will wait and see which league we are in eg Hurst, Neill, but a decent squad being put together.
  20. Of the three teams in bother (assuming Dumbarton are too far head of us at least) then we are the ones that are in decent enough form, so three wins SHOULD be enough, bearing in mind one of them will need to be against Brechin on the last day of the season. Defence is pretty solid, so only need to start scoring a bit more. Unfortunately, I fear goal difference might kill us in the end.
  21. 1991/92 - Kilmarnock v Meadowbank Thistle - 3rd Round Scottish Cup replay. Pouring rain. Horrible night. Went to a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw. Tommy Burns missed the decisive penalty for Kilmarnock. The next day the Killie manager was sacked (Jim Fleeting I think). His replacement? Tommy Burns.
