  1. Been really impressed with the performances so far. Gave a good account of ourselves against the teams from the higher leagues and played some nice football. Goalkeeper is the only position that worries me - Marshall hasn't impressed at all and I worry about what state Graeme Smith will be in should he ever get fit. It has been a long time since we went into a season with anything other than dread so this feeling is  quite novel.

  2. This club have no ground, no fans, no community and now they don’t even have a name. They are one man’s play thing and they are dangerous. Bad enough that they have given the Colts a foot in the door, just imagine if one of the established league clubs were to lose their status to this charade of a club.

  3. Wonder what the clause was? Obviously not offer from team in higher league or full time club. Surely not higher wage or warriors failure to appear in play offs or change of manager? I’d be curious to know. Sorry to lose him. Signing his brother and passage of time from midnight empress’s rumour was raising hopes that it wasn’t true.
Makes me wonder what the point of a contract is but maybe we have to include clauses or we couldn’t sign certain players.
If we do have to let him go a few bob would have been good. FF mentions investing his wage - I hope our current signing weren’t made factoring in tapping’s wage and we can still use it.

Given it seems to have been common knowledge he was leaving, I am assuming we have spent his salary on the recent additions. A midfield of Forbes and Wedderburn bothers me as neither are particularly mobile. As FF said a while back, how does that midfield duo align with Swift’s stated policy of an energetic, pressing team. And then there’s Crichton...

Still optimistic that we will get the right blend of players making the step up and those with league experience but losing Tapping is a concern.
  4. 15x150 = £2,250. Lets say they hope to raise £100,000 with the incorporation (a realistic number?). That is less than 3%.
Do you think it make sense for the current season ticket holders be given a larger number of opening shares to bring this closer to the 25% required to avoid giving complete control to 2/3 individuals? (however good there intentions at the moment).

In other words, give away a quarter share of the club for free?

They are trying to raise capital. The distribution of a small amount of shares to season ticket holders is not an unreasonable goodwill gesture.
  5. One thing that gets on my nerves about people who are against colt sides playing proper sides in the Lowland League or Highland League, is they claim it is immoral or evil, or it takes away from sporting integrity of Scottish football. Well that is nonsense. There is no shame in playing a colt side.
If a big team takes a youth team, or second 11 to play a smaller team in a friendly no one complains. But if it happens in a competitive match they suddenly claim it is immoral and destroying sporting integrity. That is utter nonsense.
If Man Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona, or Real Madrid took a B team to play a Scottish side you would fill every stadium other than Celtic or Rangers.
I remember Man Utd taking a virtual B team to play Aberdeen, a few years ago. And it packed out the Dons stadium.
If Liverpool took a B team to play Motherwell it would get a huge crowd.
Yet all of a sudden if Celtic or Rangers colt sides play against Lowland League sides it is suddenly regarded as evil.
Well what a load of nonsense.
I am not asking for the colt team idea based on attendances. I am stating that colt teams playing proper sides is perfectly OK. It is not immoral or taking away from sporting integrity. That is the point I am making. The Spanish, Belgians, Croats, Germans, Portugal, and France all play colt teams in lower divisions.
How is it an insult to the Lowland League or Highland League to say this is the potential breeding ground for Scottish internationals. It is a compliment to the Highland League and Lowland League to want colt sides in those leagues.
I am not suggesting Motherwell Colts or Ross County colts, would be a huge draw in terms of attendances, but I think if we gave Motherwell a colt side in the Lowland League it would increase the number of opportunities for young Scottish players. And there is no shame in proper sides playing colt sides. There is no shame at all.
The point in the col idea is to produce more top quality Scottish players. That is the priority of Scottish football. Grassroots main job is to develop top players.

My god. How do you block posters on P&B?

PS I wasn’t aware Motherwell and Ross County wanted their colt teams in the Lowland League.

PPS Motherwell seem to be doing pretty well at developing young Scottish talent as things stand

PPPS you do realise that the Rangers and Celtic colt team proposal is being continually put forward (by Rangers and Celtic) purely for their own benefit and not for the greater good. Why would they change the habit of a lifetime?
  6. Nobody apart from the people that appointed him. Everyone could see it was a crazy appointment and yet they haven’t apologised once for getting it so badly wrong. At least not as far as I can see.

  7. I’m unsure as to exactly what will happen in all honesty.
I get why the youth setup have made the move given their statement. They’re using the full “Broomhill Sports Club” name as of now. As far as we (BSC) go? One of the two will need a rebrand, more likely to be ourselves I’d imagine.
Ultimately, the aim has always been to get a home ground in Glasgow and grow from there. I don’t see that changing tbh.

A rebrand. Find a home ground.

If it wasn’t so serious it would be funny.

The club is nothing. But it/he has engineered, somehow, a position of influence in Scottish football which is quite dangerous.
  8. The challenge there is paying the Tayside-based players enough to make it worth their while travelling 100+ miles every second weekend to places they heard of 10 years ago in the long-lost Highland League roundup.  I suspect a lot will just think "nah, f*** that", but if we keep a decent enough core support then it might just be possible to bribe them.
eta: actually, no, they'll be too young to remember the Highland League roundup.  Needs brought back imo.

So why not sign players north of Dundee? Train in Aberdeen? Appreciate it is not as simple as that but they will be an attractive proposition to players from the north east.
  9. I confess that I have not the faintest idea what is going on with this club which says everything. BSC = Broomhill Social Club but am I right in saying that they actually have no connection to Broomhill Social Club now? Nor do they have any connection to Glasgow. So what exactly is the point of this “club”?

It is situations like this that make an absolute mockery of the pyramid. This club is one mans play thing. They have no connection to any community. They don’t have a ground of their own. And they don’t have any supporters. What do they/he bring to Scottish football, apart from providing the Old Firm Colts a back door entry to the Scottish leagues, something the lower league clubs and their FANS have been battling against since the idea was first floated.

Congratulations to Kelty today, but imagine if it was BSC Glasgow taking the place of Brechin City, or any other established community lower league club. Honestly, how would that be for the good of Scottish football?

They are a sham of a club and are everything that is wrong with the pyramid.

  10. This is ridiculous now. Understand we would sign their “best” players, but we are signing the entire squad of a middle of the road Lowland League team. If they were all up to playing at this level then they wouldn’t have been playing Lowland League. We seem to be putting a helluva lot of faith in a complete unknown. And what about our scouting system. Are we saying that all these BSC players were on the radar and identified as signing targets before Swift came along. I have the fear.

Club to be contacted prior to Friday to book place and Covid tracing forms to be filled out and shown prior to entry along with checking against season ticket list.  Entry is limited to season full season ticket holders and kids who are accompanied by full season ticket holders. No away fans or non season ticket holders. Last entry at 2.45pm as well.

Do Brechin have 250 season ticket holders? I'd have thought that they maybe had c100 full season ticket holders. Is that reasonable? If so it means that they would each have to bring 1.5 kids  to get to 250. How many of the 100 have 1.5 kids. And even if they do, would the kids want to go to the game (my child hates football for example). Am I missing something? By restricting to season tickets how are they going to get to 250?
