  1. I can't put my finger on why I can't stand Nutmeg.

I think it's an inverse snobbery going back to reading people Graeme Speirs  where I have never liked the simple pleasures of Scottish football turned into pompous loquacious long reads.

A bit of it is also that I'd rather read Hugh McIlvanney than really poor imitations of Hugh McIlvanney. He broke the sports long read by being too good.

  2. Strathspey have the licensed ground, club doctor, protecting people policies and everything else a licensed club needs.

Loch Ness have some kits that speccy loser groundhoppers like which would make less sense playing out of Grantown than the Moray Firth.

  3. My for you tab used to be the far right and Indian lads with a blue tick and now it's just tragically bald dads and their witless banter replies to people I follow and I think I preferred the fash.

The Thompson's were pretty crap at it too.

What's our profit/loss table looking like (before benefactor loans) over the last 20 years?

And we've never won a European tie in that time, far less got near any group stage.

The Thompsons weren't trying to make a profit. ET was happy to plough his money and ST happy to take his salary and share options. They were still really bad a the whole running a sustainable football club too though.

You don't even have to win European ties to get European group stage football any more.

Even without European football other top flight clubs make money.

Indeed you could argue plenty money has been made from Utd recently just that none of it found its way to the owner.

I’m sure you can make money in the Moneybags Super tourist League.

As Oggy has found out, there is f**k all money in Scottish football.

That's not even remotely true. Ogren has just been really bad at it.

Scottish clubs reaching European group stage football should be achievable on a fraction of the budget required to do so.

I would have thought that any  referee at semi professional level has indeed chosen to give up his Saturday along with the players , management staff and directors .

You make it sound as if they are grudgingly undertaking a chore and would rather be elsewhere. ( which looks like that might have been the case at Keith )

I would hope that the bulk of refs are actually a bit more compassionate in their efforts to actually get games on instead of trying to find a reason to call them off.

Is it not £75 plus expenses  by the way ?

No he has chosen to give up a portion of his day for a set fee. Not an indeterminate amount of time until the home club gets its act together.

It's also a pisstake for those club volunteers but we wont hear from them.

I did a guest lecture last week at a university on a subject I'm passionate about and genuinely enjoyed giving. If I had turned up and was told to wait an hour and a half I'd have walked.

Even if he wanted to stay there are a 100 good reasons somebody can't hang about longer.

  7. If the ref at Wick had nothing else to do on Saturday it was good of him to hold on. It's not a precedent.

It's the height of arrogance and entitlement to expect someone giving up their Saturday for 75 quid to hang about until a pitch becomes playable.

The responsibility to ensure the game goes ahead lies entirely with the home side by way of them providing a pitch which meets the referees satisfaction at the stated kick off time.

Think Matthew Benham is in the process of selling his controlling interest in Brentford, and has done so with Midtjylland, therefore I'm hopeful he is looking to take on a new challenge. At least if he gets involved at Tannadice, he'll have experience in football, unlike Mark Ogren, who got into football via his errant and now absent fellow director and son Scott.

That sounds a bit better so consider my knickers flashed

  9. Going to break character and say I thought tonight was OK. Would have been nice to have scored when we were on top in the second half and not be hanging on but we were in total control, albeit against a much reduced Morton team.

I think tonight might be our best XI, even Tillson was passable.

Personally I'm old school and prefer the blue shirt, white shorts & red socks myself

But the blue shirt, white shorts & blue socks are OK but not a huge fan of the all blue kit

But it's all a matter of opinion I suppose

Hopefully the new kit in March will be a good one as well and that the away kit has a red shirt, blue shorts & white socks (like the old Umbro 1982 kit)

Red socks aren't really any more traditional than navy or even white but we did go through a run of mostly having them 74-90 which coincides with reaching world cups and colour TV which gives them a feel of the classic Scotland kit.
