What are the rules these days if a club cannot continue in the SPFL, therefore creating a spare place?

Was wondering this myself, I can’t think of a precedent and it would be interesting to know what the position would be.

Personally would like a flat pitch as a minimum requirement for entry

The ground and pitch gets a lot of stick but the reality it is a ground that is a typical junior ground which since moving into the Lowland league has had a lot of work and investment but people tend to forget that Bonnyrigg have no backer putting a large amount of cash in and clearly until this season have not had the benefit of the prize money that long standing SPFL clubs have had over a number of years.

I expect they will continue to invest in improvements as they are able to do so given the work in the last 1-2 years. On the flip side of this having been to a number of games home and away what is clear is that most teams in League 2 don’t bring a large away support whereas Bonnyrigg are bringing a decent away support to most games.

I get a lot of long standing league clubs still being against the pyramid system and the threat it brings to them however having seen every team in the league at least once along with a number of grounds I think Bonnyrigg have been a very good addition.

Time will tell whether they are good enough to stay up!

A question for the Rose fans. Mitchell seems to be getting a decent amount of playing time, but isn’t really scoring. Is this a weakness in his abilities, a lack of fair opportunities, or something else?

A bit of a combination of a team who currently don’t make a huge amount of chances but also not always looking a natural finisher.

He has a great work rate and has definitely made a difference to a team that really lacks pace and he gets in some good positions but he can snatch at chances, for example missed a one on one page away to Stenhousemuir you would expect him to take.

He had no chance yesterday, as someone above said we played long and high balls into two huge centre halves all game but I think he has been a good signing overall.

I don't support Berwick, I support whoever is playing Cowdenbeath FC. I'm glad that you can use the biggest club in the Lowland League as a distraction from your own side's failure though.

15 winless and a crowd of 114. I almost felt sorry for Cowden when reading those. Ross has proven himself to be a joke of a human, let alone manager. It is absolutely unbelievable Cowden fans aren't vehemently calling for his head. He's clearly completely out of his depth and doing his level best to try kill the club. He literally could not have done a worse job at Cowdenbeath - I don't think there are any positives at this point. Why are you lot settling for it? You want solutions, start by getting rid of that fucking clown.

How thick can you be. Yes, there's absolutely a point. You're quickly getting embroiled in a LL relegation battle. It's embarrassing, your fans are defeated, you're employing a complete bellend as manager, he's doing a completely shite job, he hasn't a clue how to get the most from his squad or how to set them up, and I'm sorry but all this bollocks about '30% budget cuts' is no excuse at all. Cowden's budget still completely dwarfs several teams who are completely outperforming them, who aren't managed by complete muppets, who make their side competitive. You have plenty of shite in your squad, but a decent manager can at least set yous up to be hard to beat. Spending money to shift that melt now and getting someone in who can make sure you're safe and can regroup will be a far better investment than paying him a wage, I can gurantee that.

Saturday night and I'm in your head. So tasty.

Genuine question, have you had personal dealings with Ross? I myself agree he is well out his depth but just interested as your feelings on him seem a bit irrational as someone who is not a Cowdenbeath fan?

The keeper collected the ball inside the box, momentum carried him outside but he immediately let go.

The referee has obviously considered it to be a deliberate denial of a goal scoring opportunity otherwise its only a yellow card offense.

Annoying thing is ref couldn't really see from where he was and didn't speak with the stand side linesman who appeared to have a much better view.

Thought the ref's performance was poor throughout. He set his stall out early doors by booking Dean Brett for what was a hard, but fair, ball winning challenge and after that seemed desperate to send someone off. As for the linesman, they'd have been as well not being there.

That said it was an absolutely tremendous come back when we were dead and buried. Hopefully the licence situation gets sorted and we can play Lowland League football next season.

Completely agree, Brett’s tackle was hard but fair and a good referee would have taken into account its early in a big game and by booking him you set the tone.

Hard to defend them when they have the communication sets as well, it make the referee going over to his linesmen more dramatic and added to the anger from both teams.

I hope the license is granted, Bonnyrigg will be a great addition to the Lowland League as a team and bringing a fan base as well.

  6. A brilliant game for the neutral, the scenario when it went 2-1 Broxburn and both teams needed a goal made for a brilliant last 20 minutes.

The ref having a nightmare added to the excitement although the incompetence of the linesman added to his issues.

I was at the other end of the pitch and couldn’t see if the Bonnyrigg keeper handled the ball outside the box, the way the players protested made me think they didn’t disagree it was outside the box but rather the red card was harsh.
