  1. I wonder how much that line up is down to players' fitness after missing the best part of 2 weeks proper training.
  2. Very strange. Why would the club just make that up? Also, who wouldn't have wanted to leave perennial strugglers to a club doing really well, for more money?
  3. I have no issue if Magennis said he wanted to leave for Hibs. Bigger club, more money, flying in the league. What player wouldn't want to make that move?
  4. If £250k plus a sell on is accurate then I think that's good business. As I - and others - have said we're pretty well covered in midfield. I reckon he's our best midfielder but I wouldn't say he's considerably better than the others we have, and MacPherson and Erhahon will continue to improve. Good luck to Magennis, he's an honest hardworking player who I think can go on to have a decent career. I'd be delighted if he did well for Hibs and got a move to a good club down south.
  5. You can't contest a drop ball now, it's been done away with. The new rule is a nonsense and last night was a perfect example of why. A slack Aberdeen pass would've been collected by a St Mirren player (Macpherson I think) yet the ref manages to get in the road so Aberdeen get the ball back in a dangerous position with no opposition players allowed within a few yards of them. The arbitrary nature of 'last team to touch the ball' is daft. I heard no one ever claim that drop balls were an issue that needed addressed, so have no idea why they changed the rule.
  6. What changes would you have made out of interest? I don't think McAllister or Durmus offer enough defensively. I take the point about the out ball to fresh legs but sometimes subs for the sake of it can up set how the team is playing. Tonight we were unfortunate.
  7. Being able to make some subs was the difference. That said we were on top for large spells, Ferguson and McCrorie has - rightly - been getting a lot of praise and Macpherson and Erhahon more than matched them tonight. That's encouraging. We've had a right shitty time of it with injuries/suspensions and the goalkeeper crisis. We deserve to be bottom but shouting that we're destined for the championship is very premature.
  8. Unfortunately wide right has been one of our many problem positions with players being off form. Having Magennis back could have solved that issue. Fair point. I reckon Connolly will soon be our mainstay winger with AN Other coming in on the other side.
  9. He's got a brilliant engine. He's decent out wide but I think he's best in the middle as a box to box midfielder winning the ball and driving forward.
  10. I'm disappointed Magennis has gone as he's probably our best midfielder. That said we've got Foley, also Macpherson and Erhahon who are both good and getting better, McGrath has looked good at times this year too and we've got Flynn to come back. That's 5 players who can play centre mid and we've got Durmus, McAllister, Connolly who can all play out wide. Maybe we can use some of the money to bring in another defender as that's where we're really light on numbers.
  11. Getting Shankland out and Loy in at that point was absolutely the right move. The fact we stayed up is testament to that. Shankland went to Morton and didn't really perform there either. It was always clear there was a player there though, dropping down a division and getting a really good season under his belt was the right thing for him to do. I'm glad to see him doing well now, although I'd rather he didn't do well against us.
  12. We were probably on top for longer spells in the game than United were, but United did much more with their good spell and should've scored more. We hardly create anything clear cut in the first half despite having most of the pressure. Stupid from Tait who got exactly what he deserved, although he should've been joining Butcher who was lucky to only see yellow for a pretty bad challenge. Goodwin needs to work out his best team as well, constantly tinkering with line ups and formations isn't helping.
  13. Who's the DUTV presenter? Is he doing an impression of Gary Tank Commander?
  14. Don't even think it was as long as 6 days. I think it was less than 24 hours. Tommy McLean left Raith for Dundee Utd and Munro decided he wanted that job. They were in the top flight then. As for players to forget at St Mirren anyone signed by Tommy Craig, most of Stubbs' signings didn't make it past January either. Not sure I could manage a team but, Gordon Marshall. Think he played 1 game on loan Tonet - Spanish midfielder got sent off, not sure if we saw him again Christopher Wreh - a couple of appearances maybe. Hopeless. Ally Mitchell - think he did alright actually in a rotten John Coughlin side. Wayne Foster - scored on his debut, played a handful of games and moved on, to Partick maybe?
  15. He's a feckin unit though, watching him shake hands with our players was like a manager congratulating a boy's club. See if his goal was because he out muscled or jumped higher than our defender, then fair enough. But no one even tracked his run.
  16. McAllister is infuriating. He's got the ability but just doesn't show it anywhere near enough. His first contribution was two corners right after one another which didn't beat the first man. Later in the game he's skipped past a Celtic player and played a lovely ball down the line to Tait. I reckon Connolly is a player. A couple more games under his belt and well start to see the best of him.
  17. Switched off a couple of times and it cost us. A point was there to be won tonight, frustrating that it was down to our own mistakes that we didn't take something. The amount of stupid fouls we gave away was ridiculous as well. Plenty of positives but we had a chance to take something from Celtic tonight and I can't help but feel we threw it away.
  18. They won't have been training though, ok they might have been doing some sort of circuits at home, assuming they had mild/no symptoms but it's not ideal to put them straight in against Utd. That said, nothing about this situation is ideal. As for Popescu, absolute cult hero material, will throw himself in front of everything and charge up the field when he gets the chance. I agree with FTOF though as I always felt there was a mistake in him.

  20. Sheron's not much older than MacPherson, and MacPherson probably has more first team games under his belt. Certainly at this level. I think MacPherson is one of our best players, baffling that he hasn't started the last couple of games.
  21. We waited until we were 2-0 before we started playing. Should've had a penalty and Sheron was unlucky not to score. Hibs well worth their lead though.
