I thought Connolly was giving us a horrible time of it in the first half tbf. Clearly didn't come back out the dressing room after half time though.
In the first half he got a lot of joy by running at people. In the second half he seemed to just want to cross it from deep.

That was an entertaining game for a dead rubber. Thought we were the better side but in saying that, Motherwell created more clear cut chances.
For all the talk of soft penalties we had a stone waller waved away today.

There is a chance like there is a chance for every side. One things for sure is St Johnstone will not be as bad next season, you'll need to be hoping Livingston and Hearts are.
True. But at the start of last season and also the start of this season I didn't think top 6 was realistic. I think that's changed.

There's definitely a chance we can build on this season and make top 6 next year, equally there's a chance we could have a poor season and be in another relegation scrap.
Since the split was introduced there have been lots of smaller sides who've made it into the top 6. The idea that we can't do it, or that this season was our best ever chance, isn't something that's worth taking particularly seriously.

Always nervy at 1-0. Hamilton were much better in the second half, but I didn't threaten particularly often. We missed a couple of decent chances too which would've put the game to bed. Fair play to Hamilton though they're a dogged side and the grind out points. I think they'll stay up.
It's really poor defending for their goal though, that's the most disappointing thing.
Other fans can laugh if they want, it's still been a good season for us, we're miles ahead of where we were last season. I'm 35 and this is the first top flight season I can remember where we've been in no danger of relegation.

If Saint Mirren finish in the top six then does that mean that Marcus Fraser gets called up to the Scotland squad?
I'd take him before Stephen O'Donnell.

Who says mid-table mediocrity was boring? We usually have the thrill of trying to avoid the drop/play-off, but this whole top 6 tilt and trying to overhaul Livi for 5th carry on fairly gets the blood pressure up.
Totally agree. I think the split helps with this as well. Lots of people were skeptical of the split when it came in but I think it's been a good thing.

Stephen McGinn incoming.
Garry Brady was unavailable.
In all seriousness, that's a very good signing for Morton. The signing of McGinn was the reason we stayed up in 2017.
I'd have kept him this season too, OK he wasn't first choice but during out 6 game losing streak I felt we were crying out for someone like him. He's only 32 as well, so not exactly over the hill.

I'm telling you now, if Killie go down (and that's still a big if), they'll be right back up. The championship is dugshite. You've a team of full time professionals who will be going up against boys who have played periodically for 18 months. You'll stroll it. No need to panic.
Far more teams go down and struggle than bounce straight back up.
Whoever gets relegated this season, I'd be surprised if they bounced straight back up.

That first goal is a case of clear your lines, had a couple of chanes to hoof it up the park.
Rangers are a very good side, miles better than us obviously. I think both their goals come from pretty poor defending from us though.

Dundee Utd are imo out of it due to who they play.
Although both teams playing fairly well at the mo, us and the perth tories might well nullify each other so I think a draw is likely on Saturday.
That was long winded but I pretty much concur with your assessment.
I agree, and Dundee Utd have a much worse goal difference too. It would be possible for them to take 4 points and if we lost our 2 games to draw level on points. They'd also need a 10 goal swing. Seems pretty unlikely.
I'm pretty confident 1 point will be enough but obviously you'd like to take more and like has been said, it's a nice position to be in knowing that we're be pretty comfortably away from the dog fight at the bottom.

If we take 1 point and St Johnstone take 6 then it would go to goal difference. At the minute we're on -5 and St Johnstone -8. So not insurmountable for them.

Hindsight is wonderful but shaw or Hylton should’ve been in from the start for andreu , they are both in form so play them! Could possibly have swung the game in our favour as andreu isn’t up to it yet (there’s been flashes but nothing consistent)
The last bit of your post encapsulates Andreu's time at St Mirren.

We've got away with one there. That's not a penalty for me.

Terrible first half, We lack pace MASSIVELY.
Hylton or Shaw need to come on, Andreu is running through treacle.
I forgot Andreu was even playing to be honest (cue him scoring in the second half now).

We've been well on top but not really opened County up at any point. I'd be targeting Tremarco in the second half, red card waiting to happen.
Erwin has been good, probably the best I've seen him play.

Did no one else think that Shaughnessy was fouled there? Took a forearm to the face. Just me?

Erwin starts I fucken despair.
The players have played a lot of games recently and their needs to be rotation. A fully fit, rested squad and Erwin doesn't start.
Also, it's not like the guy is a liability. He doesn't offer enough for me but he has chipped in with a couple of goals despite being a bit part player. He's got a point to prove today. Let's hope he takes it.

Nah, can't agree with that.
2 points clear in top 6 with 3 to play. 2 games against bottom and 3rd last placed team to come.
JDH and McGrath back sooner than we thought- Quaner to possibly be back on Saturday.
Keep the faith FFS.
We're 3 points ahead of St Johnstone, who play Hamilton (a), Hibs (h) and Ross County (h).
If we can get 4 points then St Johnstone would need to take 9, or maybe 7 and it would go to goal difference.
Dundee Utd play, Kilmarnock (a), Celtic and Aberdeen (h).
I think 4 points will be enough and I think that's achievable. Do you know what, even if St Johnstone or Dundee Utd pip us to the last place we've had a very good season and improved massively from last year.

All things considered that's a decent point. We were rank rotten, the conditions weren't great and we're a point closer to the top 6.
MacPherson often seems to be the player to make way but he's about the only player who'll take a chance and hit a shot from distance. 89 mins and we're passing the ball across the 18 yard line. Just shoot.

Not one for the purists. Motherwell have definitely been the better side but neither have created anything of note.
St Mirren looking like a team who've been playing two games a week for a while. Kevin Clancy looking like a ref who's been playing more than 2 games a week too. Some really poor decisions. Could see this being settled by a dodgy penalty at one end or the other.

Great news that McGrath and Doyle-Hayes are back but there's now something nagging in my head that the extra confidence may be misplaced.

I think Flynn would be worth another year's deal. With a full preseason under his belt I reckon he'd be alright.
I suppose it depends who else we're bringing in, but on his day he is a useful player to have.
