  1. Fair enough, you guys obviously have a much better idea of tactics/performances etc. I'm certain I made a similar point on here, years back when Calderwood got moved on. There was a manager that had done well, but a lot of Aberdeen fans wanted him out. McInnes was the same by the end. I'm not even having a particular pop at Aberdeen here, it's the whole culture that I don't think allows for much long term improvement of the game. I think more fans have to be willing to accept a bad season sometimes. But I caveat this by saying that in the fans of clubs, of course, have a better knowledge of how the team is doing than outsiders looking in.
  2. You did get to a cup final though and churned out some decent European performances. I just think that so many clubs have no real direction, it's almost like a lottery of whether a manager will work out or not. Aberdeen is only one example of it. Glass came in with a different style from McInnes, signed his own players then gets binned. Goodwin comes in with a different style again, signs a load of players, then gets binned. Now Robson. Whoever comes in will no doubt want to offload players and there's no guarantee the team will be in a far better position next season.
  3. Can't help but feel sorry for Robson. Gave up a good job to take the position (anyone would've), did well initially, but gets bagged after a year. I think he'll probably be able to get another job in the Championship where there will be less pressure, but who knows. I think too many clubs are chasing perfection. It's almost impossible now for a club to have a poor season (not even a terrible one) without bagging a manager or two. Hibs and Aberdeen have been the main culprits of late but I think all teams can be guilty of it. Maybe it's bigger than the manager? If clubs were prepared to give managers 2/3 years to try and build something then they'd maybe see some improvements. As for the next manager - Warnock would be a good laugh but he's not exactly a long term fix.
  4. All in all, I'm fairly happy with our business in the window. We needed a right back ️ We needed cover for left back ️ We wanted another midfielder with a bit of strength ️ We wanted another forward ️ And we haven't lost any key players. I can see why watching Kilmarnock bring in Stewart then Van Veen, might bring out a bit of envy but I think we've done OK.
  5. We werent paying Brophy £3k a week, that figure (if it's true) would've included an appearance fee. And he hardly ever appeared.
  6. November apparently. I reckon that website has just looked at the table and guessed what clubs would he interested / have a chance of signing him. As much as I'd be delighted to bring him in, I can't see it. Also, he's hardly kicked a ball this year, so no guarantee he'll hit the numbers he did last year.
  7. You've answered your own question. Of course, we need to look at each game individually, when is a draw 2 points dropped and when is it a good point? We've won the same amount of games as Kilmarnock, yet sit 3 points behind them. Had we drawn with them in Paisley, rather than losing, we'd be equal with them on points. We've lost 3 more games than Kilmarnock and Dundee. As I said, only Livingston have lost more games than us. I'm not suggesting we should be playing for a draw against other teams, just pointing out that when we don't win we tend to get beat rather than hanging on for a draw.
  8. One of our problems this year as that we haven't drawn a lot of games. Only Livingston have lost more games in the league this season (Ross County and us both on 10 defeats). If we could turn some of those losses into draws in the second half of the season and get a similar amount of wins then we could end up finishing 4th.
  9. I've been watching St Mirren for too long not to look at stats like this and get nervous.
  10. Korea stumble into the next round after a 96th minute equaliser against Saudi, then winning on penalties. They meet Australia on Friday. None of the bigger sides have really hit form yet. I'd fancy Australia to win that tie, but who knows.
  11. I've tried, for a long time, to forget about him. We also took Andy Roddie from them, who was better than Gardner bit still shite.
  12. On a similar note, I read Paul McGrath's autobiography about 10 years ago. It was pretty harrowing in places but definitely worth a read.
  13. Robinson commented on the pitch being difficult too. It was a wee bit bobbly maybe but I didn't think much of it in the game. Think folk are maybe looking a wee bit too much into Clement's comments.
  14. Cutting it a bit fine for bringing someone else in. Although I'm sure Robinson will have players lined up. Since seeing Kwon on Saturday I'm a bit more relaxed about Baccus moving on. Of course I'd much rather he stayed and still think he's our best player, but it's maybe not a total disaster with Kwon there.
  15. There's every chance they could hit form at the right time. They've got some good players, I just wouldn't be banking on them beating Australia.
  16. Korea have been honking so far. Klinsmann is about to get his jotters
  17. Definitely, it's even written in the officials' guidance to do that. The perfect example was the Alistair Johnston handball fiasco. Sima is clearly offside but the linesman can't flag. Then we end up with this absurd situation. No VAR means the linesman flags for that offside and everyone gets on with their lives.
  18. I'd bin VAR tomorrow. The Miovski one isn't a great example to point to though, as it was a clear foul.
  19. Should've taken something there. Missed two really good chances in the first half. Second half Rangers were in top, but I never felt they threatened and we had some pressure and hit the bar. Rangers time wasting at the end to get over the line shows that they knew they were in a game.
  20. Thought the Rangers goal was way too easy from our perspective but other than that we've played quite well. Both Kwon and Jamieson should've scored.
  21. Ironically, there's not a huge difference in standard between that banner and some of the shite tifos they've had.
