Environmental issues are not at the top of my political agenda, but I’m probably more closely aligned with people like Harvie and Slater than I am with Kate Forbes, John Mason, Fergus Ewing and the other right wing homophobes who will no doubt be delighted with this move.

I can see the SNP losing support from a lot of younger and more progressive voters as a result of this.

It will be interesting to see any further visible lurch to the right as Harvie was predicting.

One thing I picked up on when Harvie spoke was that he said, the SNP members had rejected the right of the party. I mean, he might be technically right, but Forbes still picked up nearly half the vote, despite being quite open about her feelings on same sex marriage and abortion.

  2. He should've got rid of the Greens weeks ago, this was always likely to happen. If he had, he might have come out with a bit of credibility with the wider public.

Also, is it just me or does Yousaf sound so patronising when he speaks? Like someone who's gone into a primary school to talk about their job. I've just had to turn the radio off. For a career politician who'll have had no end of media training, he's not very good at it.

That was my thought as well watching the Ross County game.  I thought Olusanya did a good job first half at Parkhead at getting us the park and causing their defence some problems, albeit too far away from goal. Unfortunately, Rangers have gone some way to rectifying the issue their side since by benching Goldson. Can only hope he is back for this game but I doubt it.

I'd imagine they'll stick with the team that kept a clean sheet against Hearts. Souttar is a good player but I always feel he has a mistake in him, and whilst Balogun was excellent on Sunday, there's a reason why he's not been a mainstay in the team this season.

As always in these games, we'll need to be at our best and Rangers will have to have an off day if we're to pick anything up. I think we have players that can cause them problems though, I just hope we can find a bit of cutting edge that we've often lacked in these games.

Ross County did it so hopefully Sir Stephen was watching and can use the same tic tacs and give these bigots a pumping.

    3-0 Saints (McEwan, Ferguson, Wishart)

I'd have Olusanya watching exactly what Simon Murray did, it seemed like a text book performance against them.

We've not really got close to either Celtic or Rangers this season (possibly the 2-1 defeat at Parkhead), so hopefully we can cause them some problems this weekend.

I'm in primary, which I imagine is somewhat different, but our policy is phones are switched off and handed in to the class teacher at the start of the day and kept in a locked cupboard. Having a phone out at any point during the day is an instant lunchtime reflection.

Whats a lunchtime reflection? Is it just a detention with a slightly more positive slant on the word? Or is it something different?

The evidence on music and studying seems to show learning a new task might be marginally impaired by music, but otherwise there is a general reduction in stress and improvements in performance while listening to music. The obvious workplace example is medical operations, where music for the operating staff is near universal.

The school policy here is phones away in backpacks during class without teacher permission, but many teachers have found phones useful integrated with lessons here and there. Improper use is an immediate confiscation of the phone and handing over to an Assistant Principal, who puts it in a secure area at the Office. First offense, student or parent can recover phone at days end, second offense is parent only may recover, third and later offenses are parent only AND $15 fine.

This policy has developed over about 6 years and is working quite well. School of around 2,500 14-18 y-o’s and they had 9 third offenses last year.

I don't think your first paragraph is right. Cardiff University did a study and the findings were pretty clear.

Listening to music adds to cognitive overload (how many people turn the radio down when when they're driving somewhere busy and unfamiliar?). The reduction in stress applies, but when people are 'experts' in what they're doing. Then the issue of cognitive overload doesn't really apply. Most pupils in school will be learning new things, or revising something that they've learned in the past year or so, so not at the 'expert' stage that highly trained surgical staff are at.

It's good to hear that phone policies are working well in a lot of schools.

    One study admittedly

Kids my school go to allows them to put one headphone in and listen to music as they work on task. Off when teachers teaching. Seems a fair compromise as some kids find it helpful.

Really?? Am I being wooshed here? Is that a whole school policy or the odd teacher?

I'd be very surprised if that's a school policy as there's pretty strong evidence that students who work and study in quiet environments perform significantly better than those who listen to music. Music without lyrics is better than with, but no music is better still.

Not to mention, kids will be forever wanting to change tracks, meaning the phone comes out and they'll see a notification which they'll want to respond to.

Easier said that done, but banning phones in schools should really be a no brainer. I think it has to start when kids enter school, from P1 (there will be kids that age with phones), all schools. Kids that are 13 up wards might be a battle that can't be won, but schools should be trying to put rules in place which the next cohort might be more likely to follow.

    Why? Genuine question.

Carter Vickers is in the motion of playing the ball when Hoilet sticks his leg in front of Carter Vickers'.

Exactly the same thing happened when Rangers had a goal chalked off in the first Old Firm game of the season. St Mirren also had a very similar one against Rangers last season when Ayunga did the same the Goldson. And Rangers against Dortmund (?) a few years ago.

We can argue over whether it should be a foul, but by the rules it is.

Whilst we have dropped some points against Livi etc it cant also be ignored the decisions that went against us when they were clear cut. The game at Dingwall for example with the clear handball.

Football can be fine margins but you need luck too.

You're right, but I think all clubs will have decisions they can point to that'll they'll feel aggrieved they didn't get.

That one at Ross County was pretty bad, but the reason we didn't win that game is because Gogic passed the ball to Jordan White on the 18 yard line and James Scott missed a great chance at the death.

I feel this season, that whilst we've had some really good results and given a few teams a doing, we've lost so many games. When we go behind, it's difficult to see us coming back. Kilmarnock have lost 8 games this season, we've lost 14. That's more than Dundee, Hibs and Motherwell, and the same as Aberdeen. Only 2 more than St Johnstone.

Rangers are still clearly much better than the other 10 teams in the country. It’s crazy to suggest that we don’t deserve 5th place if we can’t get points from them.

I guess if other teams have been able to take points off Rangers (and Celtic) and we haven't, then we can't complain too much if they finish above us.

Your shitebag fans proclaiming that an absolutely worthless (to fans) 6th place finish would be make it a "great season".

Semantics possibly, but I said it's been a "good" rather than "great" season.

Also, it's clearly not worthless to us as fans if we think that's been a good season.

And ultimately, whether we are happy or raging, will make no impact on whether or not we pick up enough points to finish 5th.

Seems strange that you're so vexed about St Mirren fans thinking 6th is a decent season.

Not buying into this Rangers/Dundee result fucking us over patter.

We need to look after ourselves. If we can pick up a result against the OF in the last 5 games, then great. If we don't and finish 6th behind Dundee, then thems the breaks.

It feels like we may just be running out of steam towards the tail-end of the season. Hopefully we can pick up a few decent results to get ourselves over the line.

Either way, we've had another very good season. Hopefully we can round it off by finishing 5th.

That's how I'm looking at it. Dundee getting a point last night doesn't change a whole lot, although it will give them a bit of confidence.

It's been a good season by any measure, no matter what happens in the last 5 games, but i will be a bit passed off if we're pipped by Dundee.

Fair play to Dundee though, they've had a great season, if they finish 5th then they'll deserve to.

I thought Dundee were quite impressive tonight. We are going to need to be at our best to hold onto fifth

I suppose the other way of looking at it as that Rangers look no great shakes. I didn't see the game last night but the consensus seems to be that Dundee were worth a point, and Ross County were certainly worth all 3 on Sunday. If we can get at Rangers, then we can cause them problems. If we score first then there's every chance we can go on to win.

It would be fucking great if we could effectively end their title push.
