  1. You should phone the SPFL and see if they can in-relegate you, being a bigger club yet somehow being in the same league must be a mistake surely. if it isn’t a mistake, it must be a massive riddy to have been relegated among all the smaller teams and an even bigger embarrassment to brag about it like a fanny
  2. Walsh reminds me of when we signed Peter Weir, you can see he has class but you see it for 30 seconds every game.
  3. Brian Graham is mince and has just signed a year’s extension at Thistle along with Docherty and Bannigan
  4. Knowing our luck, we’ll sign Shankland on 5k a week, be a huge deal for the club only for us to spend the first half of the season belting high balls at him. if it is someone the fans will be pleased with, it must be someone either in the division that has done well or someone that is near the end of their career elsewhere, or someone that was with us before. They will presumably be a free or a loan and it’s too early to announce loans. Dundee - doubt any of their players will be walking that they would want to keep and if they don’t want to keep them I doubt we will want them Inverness - Todorov, outside chance Raith - Vaughn has signed a new deal, don’t think they have anyone else of note that Ayr fans wouldn’t have something to complain about QOTS - unless it is 45 year old Dobbie, they like Raith would be short in players to pick. Morton - No Dunfermline - McManus normally hangs about for 18 months before leaving, not much of a big lump Arbroath - no Alloa - Cameron has signed an extension with Kilmarnock, fans wouldn’t be pleased even if he did come to us Hearts - No looking at the Premier, within our scope Forrest - Unlikely Nicky Clark - unlikely Billy McKay - maybe
  5. Conway stays in England so he won’t sign for us……he just spent a season playing for a team in Perth……. His folks stay local, I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed for us next season. I can see us signing Fox from Motherwell and perhaps a loan keeper from Burnley to challenge.
  6. He was but for some reason, every output from the club doesn’t mention him, I think it was added on the the original announcement
  7. If anyone deserves a testimonial it is Moffat, he’s like Sludden in many ways, despite playing for other teams, if you said his name to a Scottish football fan they would associate him with Ayr. We gave up on getting regular goals from him a couple of years ago, his ability to take defenders for a walk has helped others chip in with goals and his link-up play is probably the best in the league. I’d assume he isn’t going to be first choice next year but he’ll still be an important player.
  8. Ideally Ross Doohan as keeper New manager at Celtic will be under enough pressure without playing a largely untried keeper. The two they have are not Celtic standard so he may stay as number 2 but I think it is more likely that he and Hazard are going out on loan. Playing regularly with a goalkeeping coach he worked well with before will give both the club and the player benefits when it comes to the end of next season and his contract renewal
  9. Nesbit reminds me of Zanatta/Bobby Barr. Flatter to deceive, flashy with very little output and don’t offer much when they don’t have the ball.
  10. The way things are going, we’ll be announcing Ray Montgomery as director of football and Kris Boyd as coach
  11. New strip, Moffat and a big name returning I have heard. Strips and seasons on sale from tomorrow. I have made this all up but I’d guess I’d be 50% accurate
  12. I’m not angry he signed him, I’m worried about the timing. Being one of the first signings and from what Roobo/Findlay had said, it looks like he has been identified early as a signing for this season, that he is going to be first choice next season. Everyone was worried he was going to sign players from Morton and three out of the first four were. There seems to be no awareness from the club that this was going to be received badly. If they had staggered the announcements with other players it may have softened the blow. Potentially the biggest signing of today is the boy from St Mirren and no one is talking about him. I don’t think the majority of the anger is towards McGinty but more towards the apparent intention of mirroring a failed Morton team. I’ll wait and see how he is, he deserves a clean slate and there is a concern that he’ll be under more pressure than other players based on a reputation at other clubs. Hopkin needs to move on from Morton now and quickly if he wants fans to get over this before the start of the season. This has been a bad end to a positive week for the club in terms of flogging seasons.
  13. The club propaganda for the last 6 months has been woeful, Black and White TV has been a shambles an no one knows what is happening with it, if they are going to put it behind a paywall when it features poor quality video shot on an SD phone, it will fail. Players joining/leaving the club, The player tweets it, the other club tweets it, we have to wait a few hours before there is a reaction from the club. The end of last season, no reaction from the club on the abysmal form until the chairman has a near breakdown and posts his thoughts on his own twitter. To know the feeling from the fans about Hopkin and his determination to replicate the failed project he had at Morton, to know the fans feelings about him signing the same players that failed him at Morton and to do them all at once was a PR masterstroke in a week they are supposed to be announcing season ticket renewals. There must be 20 new pages of people complaining about this on PNB today alone and you think the club hasn't made an arse of things?
  14. McCall worked with Kerr, Adams, Bell, Higgins, Boyle, ......he knew they could do a job and what they are like. Hopkin has worked with these players before and they finished below Ayr in the league, if you concede 20 goals in 36 games but only score 15 then you are still shite, the polishing of Morton’s defensive record ignores the rest of the team and how it performed. The signings made in this order have been a fucking shambles, everyone was worried we signed players from a dud Morton team and he makes them the first signings all at once, if they had been staggered it wouldn’t have had the same impact. the club has made a complete arse of things for the last few months.
  15. I agree, but 25 in the far end of the main stand most weeks isn’t going to me that big of a miss. There were only 3-4 teams that the away end was open for. the biggest hit will be for the folk that like away days. be interesting how the club did on the balance of away gates vs away streams purchased
  16. No it doesn’t and I am not sure what you are on about here. There are tangents and then there are tangents. You are off on one here. I’ll go through it in a bit more detail. a 24 year old premier league defender replacing a 35 year old part time player we signed from Stranraer with a dodgy knee. Alan Forrest 24 year old who has played most of his career being replaced by 24 year old Tom Walsh who has played most of his career in the Premier and championship. Robbie Crawford, played mostly in league one, apart from 2 seasons in the championship, replaced by Chalmers, both 26, Chalmers has played mostly in the Premier league and top end of the Championship. these, on paper are potential upgrades on what we lost. They weren’t. We didn’t regress because we couldn’t replace the quality we lost, we regressed because the players we signed were a bunch of powderpuff cowards that couldn’t have cared less and had a manager that ran out of ideas 3 weeks in to the season. No fans were concerned about the recruitment last year until we blew a lead at Morton. Even then, some fans backed Kerr right up to the point he was sacked.
  17. Walsh has(had) a good reputation in the game, much like Forrest who also missed a lot of football due to Gilmours groin. Bell was 35, Baird is 25 and signed from the league above, Crawford was hated by a section of our support, much the same way Chalmers is. I agree the squad was weakened but the players we brought in should have been the same or better quality based on where they came from. Your point was that the quality dropped and we were not a top 4 team based on the personnel we had, what I am saying is, the players we brought in, there was an expectation that they were like for like replacements and we would be challenging for top 4. They were not and we didn't, we didn't regress because we couldn't attract quality, we regressed because we were a bunch of rudderless cowards.
  18. McCall was able to build a squad early and replace players to almost the same standard, Apart from Shankland obviously. We lost Crawford and Forrest 2 seasons ago and Kerrs replacements didn’t reach the same standard, nowhere near it. He replaced Bell with Baird, Crawford with Chalmers and Forrest with Zanatta. Two players playing at the lower end of the premier and Zanatta. Add to that, Walsh from top 4 Inverness, Anderson a semi-regular with top 4 in the premier Aberdeen and on paper we should have improved on the season before. The quality we signed should have replaced the quality we lost, on paper.
  19. This reminds me of the Campbell Money era of signings, We had gone from signing obscure Nigerians in the Stainrod era through anybody and everybody in the Daziel era to signing Barry Nicholson and Graeme Mathie, you knew the gig was up.
  20. The soundtrack to The last year as an Ayr supporter is the fan at Alloa shouting “WHAT THE f**k IS THIS?” Over and over again and it doesn’t sound like it is going to end any time soon.
  21. County taking McKay is bad, having Barry Ferguson forced upon you because your chairman is staunch is also bad.
  22. So we could have Baird, arguably our worst player last season, McGinty, arguably the worst defender in the Championship and Muirhead, a player who hasn’t been first choice centre half since he signed for Ayr as our 3 first choice centre half’s McGinty is a player you sign in late August as cover for the 2 centre half’s you have because no one else is available, not the first centre half you sign. If we lose McCowan and Walsh, it leaves us with very little up front. So we can’t afford to sign 8 centre half’s this season because the ones we set up with originally were stinking. This isn’t a Claude Anelka situation we are getting stung with here? Hopkin doesn’t represent these players or anything? I have never known a manager to be so disliked in such a short period of time. Fans have preempted every move he has made, I hope he doesn’t play this way, I hope he doesn’t set up this way, I hope he doesn’t sign these guys.......bang! it’s like he is trolling us. I hope it works out but all evidence points to us getting a new manager about October time and trying to shift this shite on at Christmas
  23. Some moves affect players, the late John Sludden for instance moved to Kilmarnock and was rotten, Alan Trouten was player of the year every season he wasn’t at Ayr. McGinty has stunk at every team he has been at.
