The decade where music lost its way and, unsurprisingly, has never merited a revival. It started off on a drug fuelled experimental high before veering off into yacht rock, teddy boy tributes and multiple novelty hits for The Wombles, Little Jimmy Osmond and, most depressingly of all, The Smurfs. Ultimately, it took punk to shake it out of its stupor. But there were still some diamonds in the rough. Let’s hear your gems. And, to show I’ve no gripe with disco done well, this “ear worm” track.

One driver from each team going clockwise, the other driver goes anti-clockwise. Change direction at half distance to keep it fair.

Some revisits from previous years and some new ones following my recent medical assessment. Get my BMI below 25 and keep it there. I’ve been consistently in the 25s for 9 months so would be nice to see if another drop can be maintained. Get my cholesterol level below 6. It’s supposed to be below 5 but was above 7 at the medical. Get back in the pool. Assuming the Commie stays open, would be nice to have a couple of swims a week. Complete Couch to 5k. Funky Junior wants to get into running, so would be a safe introduction for him and an opportunity for some shared time together. Do some volunteer work. I retired at the end of 2021 and have some useful skills and qualifications. Improve the back garden lawn. Two young dogs and years of neglect means it would score 3/10 at best. Following the RHS lawn care program with hope to get at least 6/10 by the end of year. Complete a 24 hour OpenLearn course. Find one that inspires me and use it to progress to more advanced options. Join a cookery class. I make the evening meal a couple of times a week and would like to develop beyond “easy” recipes.

Wordle 194 4/6 There is a setting on Wordle called “Hard Mode” (Kenneth gifs incoming) which forces you to use your identified yellows and greens in subsequent guesses. I’ve been doing this automatically, but I suppose that filtering out further letters in early guesses is an alternative strategy.
