  1. The above will never happen Firstly you are relegating 12 teams out of the SPFL , the clubs will never go for that Then there is is the issue at tier 6 - Why are the Midland league teams and South of Scotland teams relegated from tier 6 to 8 in one go ? Also the issue of the Highland league being shunted into a play off yet the lowland league getting direct entry as pointed out above.
  2. Kilmarnock sold out the main stand and then were given more blocks in the North stand The away disabled platform is in the main stand and the disabled supporters wish to be with the rest of their support so that section is always sold first. if we did it the way you have suggested the experience for these fans would be significantly reduced.
  3. Tranent 1-1 Albion Rovers What an excellent advert for the Lowland league, an end to end game on a good surface for this time of year with two sets of passionate fans who were able to stand next to each other under the cover last night. The game was in the balance right until the last kick of the ball.
  4. Excellent , still need Tranent and EK to complete the Lowland league for now. That decides the choice of game tonight.
  5. The gamble paid off in that Bowyer got the team up, funded by a loan of 2 million at 1% per year from Dark Blue holdings. This makes sense as Keys needs the team to build a stadium for as part of the wider development and its the only way they can realistically ever make a profit on this. Some interesting notes in the details as posted on the club website In the going concern section there is mention of the losses for this season being similar but then an improving from 24/25 A supplier Mr G Strachan settled a £192,000 invoice by way of a share issue in February of this year . What has he been doing thats worth 192K?
  6. Its one more than it should be just now as we started the season with Ross Sinclair who then was injured just after Dimitar Mitov was signed to be competition for him. Hes superb and without him we would be in the relegation play off spot for sure. With Ross out Dave Richards was signed as an experienced back up but has yet to play. Mitov is now the Bulgarian number 1 and i doubt we will be able to hold onto him for long. Jack Wills is 21 and out on loan at Queens Park and then Craig is on loan with Cowdenbeath, the Under 18s keeper could be who you get next but if he follows the path Craig did they will put him out to a local East of Scotland team first then lowland league.
  7. I think as it stands Craig is the number 5 keeper so i doubt he will be in our squad next season. One for the future.
  8. The odd thing was the staff were defending the lads not having seen the amount of waste and mess they were making and 3 times called the man away from the kids. i felt sorry for the 2 lads who looked about 18 who were sent out to clean up the mess of condiments and food they had smeared over the surfaces that the staff cannot see from the desk.
  9. Probably my all time favorite Saints game. Went to the game expecting nothing but we put in such a good effort. The DJ has the music at full volume from about 45 minutes before kick off and off all the lockdown games i was lucky enough to "work" at this felt the most normal. Gerrard went mental when Ranger scored and we had the media posts typed up with all the cup stats from that season when Clark headed the ball onto Chris Kane's foot and we equalized.
  10. I went along to this to see the new Meadowbank its not as bad as some have made out, we were in the back row and able to stand up so the whole thing did not seem miles away. The crowd was a lot bigger than i has expected, i also think that was the case with the catering as by half time they had ran out of everything bar tea and coffee (with complimentary biscuit) but we could hear them then say they could only offer black tea or coffee not long after that. The game only really came to life near the end The Edinburgh ultras were in the McDonald's opposite the stadium after the game just making as much mess as they possibly could until a local challenged them. They were all mouthy in the restaurant but legged it along the road as he chased them as they all left at once. Probably the highlight of a wet night.
  11. We have been doing the end of season announcement at half time at St Johnstone for the last 10 years plus. The club asks for a list of names of those supporters who have died in the last year and they along with former players and club staff are included in the a list in the middle of the match day programme, with the request being made around 2 weeks before the last game. When my mum died in 2015 we put her name down for that but i would not have asked for a minutes applause etc
  12. There was a lot of mud in the spectator areas on Wednesday night and a few did slip or fall on it, Its the first time I have realised how much work would need to be done there if they did get a licence and move up a level.
  13. Some action from Wednesday nights game
  14. TBF if he was in the press box you cannot see that at all. Advantages its nice and warm but you don't hear any of the atmosphere and feel a bit detached from the game.
  15. Im surprised no one else has commented on this but i had this on in the car driving back from an East of Scotland Premier league game on Saturday Around 4.50 Kenny MacIntyre asks Willie Miller , how long to play at Tannadice. His genuine answer was "I dont know, i dont own a stop watch" to which they just carried on as if it did not matter. Is he aware his phone can do this? If he genuinely does not have a phone capable would it not be a worth while investment to buy a stopwatch or upgrade his phone. Even if he forgot to start his stopwatch or phone, the betting sites tend to have a clock running on the game. The other big mystery of the weekend was , where was Pat Bonner? he would have been class at Arbroath v Partick rather than Tam Courts who seems to have switched his name back from Thomas. His reporting sounded like they had just picked someone out of the crowd to cover the game.
  16. Although i can not normally see them the Friday night games seem popular and its a great way to showcase the Championship. Work wise it would be a pain for some to get to but its just the same for many as a Tuesday or Wednesday game. Definitely keep. The one thing however I would change is the quota of games, every team having to have 2 home games selected means that this weekends big game is not being shown. There however should be a maximum number of times an away team can be on. The same argument can be made with regards to the Premiership games. Remove the home maximum but limit the number of away games that a team can be shown. This would result in better games being selected but we all know 2 clubs would veto this. Radio wise it needs a total reset.
  17. After about 36 hours of constant rain in Perthshire it seems to have stopped in the last hour The grass at work is under water so i wonder what chance if any the 3 Perthshire games have of being played tomorrow.
  18. This comment was posted in "The Herald - McDiarmid memo" today My apologies for the tangent – but in the absence of a game last weekend to look back on I’d like to climb on my soapbox. “THERE WILL BE GOALS, THERE WILL BE DRAMA, THERE WILL BE... VAR!” Those were the literal words that introduced BBC Scotland’s flagship Scottish football radio show a couple of Saturdays ago. That’s right, top billing given to a roundly hated piece of technology, despised by people in the stands but loved by pundits for whom it provides endless hours of controversy and tedious talking points without any requirement for research, insight or even really paying attention to the games they are covering. Sportsound was the soundtrack to Saturday afternoon for me in previous years. The build up to every game, the team news, the anticipation building as you drove to the game or got on the supporters’ bus. Open All Mics was a great innovation – allowing up to the minute updates from every game as an alternative to a live commentary game. Now it is a rabble. A complete shadow of what it once was. The format barely changes week on week. An introduction touching on any of the week’s controversies – often topics that have been done to death online, in the news and on podcasts and other radio shows throughout the past seven days. Then an extended interview with either the Rangers or Celtic manager, depending on which one is playing that afternoon. Then a brief tour round the rest of the Scottish Premiership grounds and maybe one or two in the lower leagues collecting the team news, by which time 3pm is upon us and the frequencies split to a live commentary of whichever Old Firm side is playing, or Open All Mics. Inevitably, you mostly choose Open All Mics, and very quickly wish you hadn’t. Genuinely – a few weeks ago a large period of time was taken up with those appearing on the show talking about their Gladiator names. The nadir was when one said another would be called “The Tadger”. The kind of banter you’d get from an old boy in the pub that you try your best to keep away from. Shortly after one contributor at a Championship game was slapped down by Willie Miller for trying to give an actual update on their allotted match. You’ll then be treated to Pat Bonner failing to identify any of the players on the park that don’t have a connection to Celtic, while you try in vain to get any real sense of what is happening at your team’s game, or indeed any other. The issue, for me, is that there is a core of contributors who are wannabe controversialists, and others who are essentially having their season tickets to their team paid for by the BBC. There is a complete lack of insight, and if you’re not interested in VAR decisions being given top billing every week it is a tough listen. It is understandable that the Old Firm are given prominence – at least to some degree – but I also feel its an insult to the intelligence of Rangers and Celtic fans that the producers seem to think they’re incapable of listening to a show with a broader remit than those two clubs. There is a format there that works. Find the formula that fits it and they’ll be on to a winner.
  19. A new team would need to apply along with everyone else, if the replacement team in the lowland came from the East of South there would be no space in the West and the new team would be locked out. Now if only that system was in place just over a decade ago.
  20. That terror probably already exists for all of the part time teams in Scotland , as you are showing even in league 1 you are only 2 seasons away from the trap door. Perhaps its time that those in the league made it easier to come back with a 2 up 2 down or 1 up one down and a play off arrangement for the second promotion/relegation spot. All of which was as Kenny MacIntyre would say "a long long long time ago" and is of little relevance now to fans of other clubs, while obviously being very important to the history of each of the clubs concerned, the number of people who go to games now and actually witnessed these events in all 3 clubs must be very small.
  21. Kelty now have superb facilities for spectators and a sustainable club Darvel have some changing rooms and grass banking, where is the stand as promised ?
  22. The south challenge cup should be the best cup competition outwith the Scottish cup. The turn out of for the games involving Perthshire teams in the first rounds was well up on league gates It just needs some proper funding.
  23. utter bollocks The failure has been in teams from the west to get licences or win play off games . Add to that egomaniacs such as that clown from Darvel throwing money about to achieve the a cup win over Aberdeen and get him and the chicken man time on TV. The clubs in the east have progressed without the need to throw stupid money at it, crowds are up, interest is up. Maybe once some on the west lose their Junior mentality and west cost superiority complex they will see the benefit of the whole pyramid.
  24. i see the idiot father and son grounds team have been reemployed to prepare the pitch for the arrival of the homes.
