The Celtic All Seasons thread

Absolutely rapid. Saw enough of that when he flew past Juranovic. He's just waltzed past Patterson a few times already.

Celtic v Hearts. 21st August.
ArtemisClydeFrog replied to Flybhoy's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
A routine Celtic victory. Hearts are fucking rotten and I expect - and hope - their next three results to reflect this. -
Undoubtedly, but not all players are offered that opportunity and it's not solely down to perceived levels of ability. Age, fit and value for money are significant factors. Certainly the league you ply your trade in is an indicator of quality and the world's best are all playing for the best teams in the best leagues, but beyond the best I think it's horses for courses in many respects.

Yeah, there's absolutely no conundrum involving his selection. He's the one top class player we have, it's just a pity he's not especially reliable. Either way, Tierney starts when fit regardless of formation. It would never happen, and I'm inclined to agree that it shouldn't given Robertson's quality in comparison to his teammates, but if a back four is considered the way forward then Robertson should find himself on the bench.

Has Robertson ever taken a fucking man on? Two games on the trot now looking like an inferior attacking option to Ralston, and that's hardly through Ralston being spectacular.

That's Sports News Journalist of the Year, Keith Jackson. Christ, if ever an award could sum up an entire industry. His 'Motherwell born billionaire' article should have been a career ender. -
Newco v Oldforce
ArtemisClydeFrog replied to Jacksgranda's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Wouldn't seem to apply to all, funnily enough, given that Celtic have the highest possession stats in the league (71%) yet have drawn the fewest number of fouls in the league. -
We've got the stronger squad overall but in Zahavi and Solomon Israel will have the two most dangerous players on the pitch. Still fancy us to win but it'll be a tight game.
-
That was tortuous, more dull shite from a Clarke coached side. Should be swarming over teams like that and killing the game by half time.

She called them 'the h word which shall not be named', which many Rangers fans are of course trying to reappropriate as a sectarian term. Nonsense, clearly, given that it references their proclivity for destruction and is absolutely nothing to do with religion (e.g. Nacho Novo is one, Danny McGrain is not). Suspect if it was we wouldn't have fans of just about every fanbase in Scotland - many of whom are Protestants - call them that.

The league you play in and the club you play for isn't the sole indicator of quality. The Premier League is a great league but there's still a lot of rubbish in it. Our young superstar might be contracted to Chelsea and theirs Sampdoria yet Damsgaard is miles ahead of Gilmour.

It is. Unparalleled in the modern era.

Scotland Vs Faroe Islands Weds 31st March
ArtemisClydeFrog replied to Gordopolis's topic in Tartan Army Ramblings
He's been a fucking really good player since he broke in to the Celtic team. Some just chose to deny it for rather obvious reasons. -
Tierney is the best attacking threat we have by a considerable distance and we're completely neutering him to fit in a vastly inferior player. Complete waste.

Israel v Scotland - 18 / 11 / 2020
ArtemisClydeFrog replied to nessies long lost ghost's topic in Tartan Army Ramblings
Performance adequate but the lack of goals is a concern. We created a number of chances but not too many I would deem clear cut, perhaps to be expected when the two behind the striker both lack a little creativity. Undoubtedly need more from Robertson too. Reminded me of Greg Taylor at Celtic tonight with how passive he was in attack. Not ideal for the formation when your wing backs can't beat a man. -

He could really do with working on how to beat a man, too. Had a perfect opportunity to take on Dasa there and passed it up. Total contrast to how Tierney plays full/wing back. -
Big fucking wow. He's a promising young player, admittedly very talented, being given an opportunity to impress by a manager who seems to look favourably on younger players, and has to in many respects due to their transfer ban. There have been countless young players at Chelsea (Josh McEachran, Gael Kakuta to name but two) and other clubs who ultimately amount to nothing after starring in the reserves and making the odd match day squad. Funnily enough I'd probably have him around the Scotland squad for the experience, but to label him world class (and McTominay for that matter) is fucking laughable. They're miles away from that standard.

Lay off the glue f**k sake.

Based on last night's game against England - the first I've seen this year - there is a real lack of talent compared to last years group, in particular Calvin Miller, Ali Coote and Mackenzie Heaney. Thought the CM Liam Burt looked decent, right enough. Forgetting the left back, Gallacher. Looks very promising.

Scotland v Republic of Ireland
ArtemisClydeFrog replied to Lyle Lanley's topic in Tartan Army Ramblings
Brilliant victory and thoroughly deserved. Superb strike from Maloney. Assisted by a current Celt, scored by an ex-Celt. Lovely stuff. Ireland, however, were fucking awful. Truly awful.
