  1. Sorry to say but this i exactly what happens. You get a minor issue last week and then a massive over reaction. Have to say also that the fans over rection to a nothing issue last week didnt help.
  2. I agree with you. Much as I thought Dobbie was brilliant he had a nasty habit of going Awol just when you really needed him. The cup final was a case in point - he didnt kick a ball except for a part in the first goal. That was a game where he could have won it for us. Rangers were on their last legs and the mercurial Dobbie didnt turn up. He has clearly done well since leaving us but he is struggling to get a game at Fleetwood which from his perspective is not good news
  3. Overall the current team and squad is considerably better than the 2008 equivalent in my view. My combined team would be :- Clark Dowie durnan higgins Holt Burns tosh mcshane Paton Dobbie O connor
  4. No Kerr and Baird Great to get home draw - makes us fav but it will be tough.
  5. Livvy fans must be wondering why SFA/SFL have taken no action against Rangers for the conflict of interest scenario that has emerged through Ashley's dubious loan deals. The same authorities have never been slow to through the book the at your club.
  6. Delighted to read that James Fowler has spoken out in the Sunday Mail about Rangers latest embarassment. For the SFA to be delaying their Ashley investigation until April is laughable. The same regulator couldnt wait to dish out points deductions and fines to Livingston recently. I wonder why that was? Could it be anything to do with the fact that their would be no legal challenge and no media interest? I have been disgusted at the way the media have failed to address the real issue here. They keep bleating on about how these players will be accommodated and will it disrupt the dressing room? The real question that they should be asking is ........................are these loan deals contravening the conflict of interest rules and if by some miraculous quirk of fate that they are not then the rules need to be changed immediately.
  7. In terms of natural ability and future potential - no disrespect to Burns and Mckenna but McShane is in a different league. He has held our midfield together this season. If Hamilton can get over 1 million for thir left back there is no way that we should be even entertaining a non descript offer from Ross county and potentially let them cash in ony future upside. I will be astounded if he goes to Ross County and if we let one of our bright stars go a to a club with less potential than us we might as well close down the Development Squad and shut up shop!!!!
  8. I think that Ian McShane was the one big thing that JimMcIntyre got right at Queens. He persevered with the player despite a number of low key performances. Ian's performances subsequently have totally vindicated that decision. That said as a fan assessing what you see on the park it was perplexing to see McShane as an automatic pick because based purely on game performance it was questionable at the time. One could argue that if Kevin or say Pa Slattery had got similar exposure they may also have developed quickly and become valuable assets. That is a hypothetical argument I guess. I know that a lot of players perform brilliantly in a low pressure training environment and struggle on match days and vice versa. I think in the early days that was probably the case with McShane. As for the here and now I think we have an outstanding midfield player on our hands and if he could just add a few more goals to the cv a big fee could be coming our way
  9. I think if Bob McHugh cant get a look in at Fir Park these days it places huge question marks on his ability to do well for us. If he comes he would be my 4th choice front man behind Lyle, Reilly, Paton and 5th choice if you include Russell. Hardly going to be a game changer? Falkirk have made a big statement of intent with their recent activity - we have to be a reasonable option for players who are looking to prove a point. I would be hopeful that we could make a better signing than McHugh but if he has been seen in Dumfries then that looks ominous!
  10. I think the sub on the photo looks like Mark Robertson - from memory a red haired defensive player that I think may have come from Aberdeen.
  11. if that is the way it plays out he wont be happy or satisfied with that as he will expect to play every week. Yet another player who thinks he is a lot better than he is in reality. Sadly the game is full of them!!!
  12. Two different cases - I suspect Kerr wanted the vacant Asst Manager role and was seriously upset when he was overlooked for that position. Clearly I cant comment on his suitability or otherwise for that role. I can only judge him as a player for Queens and I thought he was excellent.................very good football brain AND a hard grafter. If we go for Mark Millar his reputation worries me -not a great trainer, not playing well in Div 2 (a good player should be a stand out at that level)and could be a hothead on the pitch. Baird in my view is a good player but Reilly and Lyle were playing better than him although I am sure if he had displayed a decent attitude he would have become a first pick and done well for us. He was NOT hard done by in any way - he should have been big enough to acknowledge the contribution of his fellow strikers and buckled down. Not sure that it will any easier to get a regular start at Falkirk but time will tell. If it had been down to me I wouldn't have let either player leave but perhaps the club had no alternative!!
  13. I would certainly take Hefferman if he was available - good finisher and he is not the first decent player who has failed to fit in at Easter Road. As has been said Fowler will know him well from Killie days and a move in that direction would not surprise me if Fowler rates him that is? I think we should also be looking at Division 1/2 players who are performing well and perhaps getting a few signed for next season if not this one. I am strongly opposed to this crazy situation where Hibs for example could come in and sign say Holt and then we are drawn against them in a Play Off situation. It puts the player in an impossible situation. That said, if that is the system then we have to protect ourselves so we have to be pro-active now or face being "walked over" by our rivals.
  14. Not many clubs paying fees for players in Winter window so not sure where he will be going. My recollection is that he had a spell with Carlisle which didn't appear to launch a better career in England so a further move to England may be unlikely. If he stays Falkirk will have no shortage of strikers so plenty of competition especially if they persevere with 4-3-2-1. I don't think there is any doubt that Baird is a good player at this level and I don't agree that he played badly for us.
  15. My feeling on Baird is that he is a good player at this level. I fully expected him to be first pick with Gavin up front and Derek Lyle competing when one or both went off form. The reality was that Baird turned up with an injury at start of season and missed a number of games. When he did arrive he wasn't very fit and didn't look sharp. In the meantime Derek Lyle was playing very well and with Gavin clearly the number one striker he was essentially vying with Del for the one place. When you look at the goals scored column - Lyle has 10 I think and Reilly 9. Baird has scored 3 one of them a penalty and one really an own goal by Laurie Ellis! In terms of assists Derek Lyle has made a big contribution and his link up play has been first class. If Baird had been a good team player he would have been disappointed at not starting as many games as he would have liked but would have concluded that Reilly is a young player on the up and Derek Lyle has played exceptionally well.and displayed a GREAT ATTITUDE!!! I would have respected Baird more if he had dusted himself down and recognised the fantastic efforts of his striking teammates......................he would have inevitably got his chance and with his ability I am pretty sure that he would have done very well for us. If he goes to Falkirk as reported it will not be any easier for him ........................one would assume that Rory Loy will be first pick - Falkirk generally play a 4-2-3-1 formation so I don't see him as being an attacking midfielder and they have also signed the lad Taylor and they have other young contenders. One thing for sure is that wherever he goes if he doesn't start every week "toys will be thrown out of pram". Not good news for us though as I think we will struggle to replace him and I am disappointed that he has not played more of a team game. I would actually say that Derek Lyle has been more unlucky - he was left out of the side at times to accommodate Baird when he had been scoring freely and making goals. The difference was that Lyle while disappointed showed no petulant tendencies and was committed to do the best he could whether it was from the start or off the bench.
  16. The fundamental question that needs to be answered is .........................why are key players wanting to leave. Behind the big 3 in this league we should be one of the most attractive options for players looking for a full time contract.
  17. Personally like Kerr I think Baird is a very decent player at this level and if all true would be a loss. I think he has been left out of the side more often than he should have been but with Lyle and Reilly scoring more frequently there has been rotation and he has suffered as a result. Like someone else said it should not just be a case of a key player asking for his release and the club falling in line with the request. It has to suit us and I am far from convinced that it does suit us. This is where man-management comes into its own and if I was Fowler I certainly would not be wanting to lose Baird at this point in time. The timing of this disruption could not be worse as we may well lose some of our young players and it would have been good to rely on the experienced nucleus until we could try and find some replacements. If Baird goes we need to sign another striker or get some return from players like Paton. It may be a better tactic to say to Baird that there is no exit door for him - two options commit and fight for your place or train with Development squad. We cant let senior players walk all over the Management team otherwise a play off place will be a very distant memory.
  18. Surely if someone of Kerr's experience is unhappy with aspects of the management he could have sought a private meeting with the Manager and aired his concerns sensitively. To do so in front of all the players in the dressing room on the back of a disappointing result was the last place to do so. No way back unfortunately. I am not privy to the inner workings of the training and tactical regime being deployed but if I compare the performance of the team and the quality of the football McIntyre v Fowler - I would go with Fowler. It took McIntyre an inordinate time to abandon that mal functioning 4-2-3-1 formation not to mention a number of highly dubious selections. It is early days for Fowler but the players seemed desperate for him to be appointed - now is the time to stand up and be counted.
  19. If the training was poor then it didn't stop Queens producing one of our best performances in a long time against Rangers. Certainly the team set up and general organisation that night was first class.
  20. Very disappointing news - Kerr has been a first class acquisition and has brought the best out of Ian McShane. All I can judge is the performances on the park and for me he has been an automatic pick in central midfield. Over the past couple of seasons we have prided ourselves on having a united dressing room with everybody pulling together for the common cause. I would have thought that healthy disagreements are commonplace in a post match scenario but for a player to be sent packing (if that is true) then that goes well beyond what is acceptable. Whatever way you cut it - we are the losers as we can ill afford to lose players of Kerr's quality especially when we face the threat of losing some of the younger fraternity. Not quite sure why an assistant has not been appointed - I think we could have done worse than consider Kerr for the role in a player coach capacity but if he is not seeing things in the same way as the Manager then this was presumably a non-starter. While the last two results have been disappointing I cant see that Fowler is doing much wrong with the way he is setting up the team and ironically enough Kerr wasn't at his best at Alloa. If all true a very disappointing development and one we don't want to see repeated!!!
  21. Many Queens fans are talking on this site as if our performance on Saturday was of the disastrous variety. The reality was that Alloa played very well and while we didn't scale the heights the game was pretty even in terms of genuine chances, possession etc. I think a draw was a fair result - neither team doing enough to win. The team gave 100% - tried to attack whenever possible and played some good stuff at times. Our makeshift back 4 coped pretty well. Alloa have beaten Hibs and Rangers at home and run Hearts close - I am not sure what gives us the right to expect to go to Alloa and expect to win comfortably. It was a disappointing outcome as was the Cowden game but we certainly didn't play badly against Cowden and I thought we battled hard on Saturday in challenging circumstances. These results were very disappointing but the actual performances were not anywhere near as bad as our earlier performance away to Cowden when we set up negatively for some inexlicable reason.
  22. I would be very surprised if any of the aforementioned players are daft enough to see Ross County as a plum move but never say never.
  23. Very disappointing news if true - best central defender that I have seen at Queens and am astonished that it has taken so called expert scouts to so long to see his tremendous potential.
  24. Personally I will be surprised if Fowler gets the job. He has been a good acquisition as player coach but I favour Billy Reid or Danny Lennon. Butcher's managerial career has either been very good or extremely poor. He obviously had a horrendous time at Hibs where the players and fans were utterly bemused by his tactics and motivation but he has bounced back before and he has a habit of signing decent players from England. Billy Reid did a fantastic job at Accies and I am surprised that no other Scottish club has taken him on. Whoever it is we have good attacking options when all fit so please let's play a progressive attacking style of football and press the ball high up the pitch. We are a fit side and have some good athletes like Gav who can really press the opposing back four but NOT if he us up there on his own. I will also be interested to see if next Manager sees Ian Russell as a left midfielder? If he does then I will admit defeat and gracefully accept that it is me who has been wrong all this time!!!!!
  25. Am 90% certain that the Kevin was not kevan McCann. Mccann's main claim to fame was scoring for Airdrie in the 1975 cup final in a 3-1 defeat to Celtic and I think he would have mentioned that if reminiscing about his career. He also didn't look like McCann in the least. I vaguely remember kevan osnowski and I would say it is more likely that this is who it was. May be mistaken but I thought here were two osnowski brothers who played for queens in the 70s?
