  1. This might come across as slightly callous, but if you're questioning if you could have done more, then there are surely many others who were in a much better position to do something. His mother was well aware, knows him significantly better than you, has more influence on him, and presumably cares about him significantly more than you. If she couldn't help, what chance did you have? Many people find themselves in a similar situation, but very few of us actually have the tools and training to help beyond saying "you need to get help". I had a schizophrenic, manic-depressive flatmate in my somewhat younger days and it was basically a year of being able to do nothing before finally getting him sectioned (not anywhere near as fun as they made it out to be on Peep Show).
  2. Debatable. Even if he is, there's really not much in it, not enough to be worth anything to Clarke especially when you've got situations like Dykes starting and McBurnie not even getting a call up. And if this discussion is about the medium term, then next season Ferguson will almost certainly be playing at a higher level than Christie.
  3. Does annoy me that they refer to Leighton as former Aberdeen and Manchester United player when he played twice as many games for Hibs as he did in England.
  4. Sorry, but that's nonsense. Vargas was clearly diving elaborately so he could stretch out and grab the ball. That you go straight to racism despite both incidents involving foreigners is really poor form and gives ammunition to "can't say anything these days" types who peddle actual racism.
  5. Ref shiteing it by giving Hearts the free kick instead of a yellow for Vargas for the dive and a second yellow for deliberate handball.
  6. Must be Arbroath's away strip I'm seeing Hearts up against.
  7. "Liam Kelly and Zander Clark haven't really done anything wrong" Whit?
  8. I did consider that. "Since he turned five years old" was another good option.
  9. We've relied on McGregor to score every single one of our major tournament goals for over two decades now. He'd be very difficult to replace.
  10. The egregious thing about that is the grammar. In China I kept being told off as I wasn't slurping, and that was very impolite.
  11. I hate when folk post things like "We should take a look at Heinz Herzog at KPS Neiweinhoffen. He's done an amazing job taking them up to the Austrian Bundesliga and has them challenging for Europe. Plays really good football and turned Werner Spaetzel into a £20m player." to show off how worldly and knowledgeable they are. That said, Rui Borges is doing a great job at Moreirense, taking them up and having them challenge for Europe. Aberdeen should be asking the question.
  12. You've posted Arbroath for a second time instead of Ayr. Morton is an interesting one. Doing well in the league, on a great run, but their best player is a pathetic +0.17, and their worst player seems pretty undroppable going by his minutes. What's going on there?
  13. He died. He also cleared our debt and funded a youth academy which future Scotland players Jack Hendry and Kevin Nisbet played in, as well as current Thistle first team players like Aiden Fitzpatrick and Ricco Diack. And thanks to him we're fan owned. He also started Partick Thistle women, who are top six and off to a cup final in a couple of weeks. So it's worked out pretty fucking well, thank you very much.
  14. ...and your sort code, account number, and mother's maiden name.
  15. Over the last 15 games they've been the ninth best team in that league. I'm not sure how safe that playoff spot is. Combine that with their disastrous end to last season with Farrell in charge and I can see why Dumbarton fans are desperate to get shot of him.
  16. I've somewhat made my peace with folk saying ATM machine, or PIN number. But today my boss said "SECC center".
  17. I'm not a subscriber so haven't read the article, but I take it Loch Ness would get the licensing and Strathspey might get some more funding streams? Playing out of Grantown, I assume? I see the manager's walked after the Brora pumping.
  18. I actually live in the Forth Valley, and Forthbank is much better than TFS, so I'd love for you to join us in the Championship. Last time I saw the Jags in Stirling it was the 2-2 game where we had two sent off and conceded from Zahani-Oni after 27 seconds. If we get relegated this season, then coupled with our Dingwall bottle job last season, we would deservedly don Hibs' mantle.
  19. Come on. I didn't mention Thistle at all, I wasn't comparing Thistle to Stirling or Falkirk. This is a forum for all fans of Scottish football. It's surely a good thing when people take an interest into matches and clubs that aren't their own and develop a deeper understanding of the game in this country. To answer your question, I saw the match thread was already three pages long and thought there might be something of interest being discussed. Plus we're quite likely to be in the same league as Falkirk next season, so I do look at their threads from time to time.
  20. Why on earth are you bringing Thistle into this thread? Was having it polluted by comments about Celtic not enough for you? Strange behaviour. Whilst Young is doing a good job and it seems like you'll achieve your aims for this season, if you're looking over a longer time frame then a part-time team from a place the size of Stirling should have survival in League 1 as a minimum acceptable placing. Yes, it's literally "not bad", but over the last decade clubs like Alloa and Arbroath have shown you what a club from Stirling should be achieving. It's okay for a "wee club from Stirling" but my point is that given the size of the city (and it's relative wealth) the club shouldn't be as wee as it finds itself. The Stirling fans I know would agree with me.
  21. There is literally not a single part-time team in the SPFL that has a bigger town to themselves than Stirling. So your "poor wee us" chat doesn't hold water.
  22. Chef at my old work used to put salmon in the glasswasher.
  23. Why didn't she? I flew Ryanair a couple of days ago. £15 for a 1h45m flight compared to £130 with other carriers. I'd rather fly BA, but it's not worth an extra £60 per hour. I then got to the gate to find I'd be sharing the plane with the Sevco U19(?) team. So I told the crew I'd just wait and get the next one.
