It varies around the country, but a lot of bars and restaurants are having to close multiple days a week as they can't get enough staff. Hotels have huge numbers of rooms blocked off as they don't have the staff to operate to capacity. Cost of living isn't the biggest problem facing hospitality.

Tam will be delighted to hear that Deliveroo lost about £300 million last year and have yet to turn a profit. It won't be inflation and cost of living that kills these businesses though. It'll be the rising interest rates and sluggish markets that are putting an end to the McDuckian free money pits investors have been keeping topped up.

What? You've talked a lot of sense in the past but this is nonsense. Someone can be ugly even if they have a perfectly decent left forearm. A league can be tinpot even if there are a handful of well run, respectable clubs in it.

I think the Oxford definition is closer to how it's generally used in football: "having or showing poor leadership or organisation". Last season Vale of Leithen and Fort William were roughly equal levels of utter shite on the field, however one was far more tinpot than the other.

I've had quite good dog, but with these things you only have once it's tough to tell how much its down to the meat and how much is down to the skill of the butcher/farmer/chef. I had lion and tiger in Mexico when I was younger. Not particularly proud of the tiger once I realised how few of them there are. Generally, carnivore mammals aren't particularly tasty.
