  1. Is there evidence that they aren't ambitious?
  2. If we ever lose a playoff there's a sizable constituency of tinfoil heids that will be more upset than the Talbot support about it.
  3. I honestly haven't heard anyone in the Talbot support say they'd want us to chuck it if we found ourselves in the playoff. There are likely a few who wouldn't be all that disappointed if we stayed in this division right enough but I'd expect that sentiment to exist right across most of the traditional ex Juniors in much the same proportion as at Talbot.

  5. 66. Surprised it wasn't higher to be honest because it felt like Beith were cantering it.
  6. I'd double check the maths - Beith 72 Talbot 68 Darvel 67 St Cads 65 Clydebank 62 To add a bit of context to those totals Beith have dropped 18 points in 19 games so there's hope for any team in the chasing pack that can finish the season strongly.
  7. Yup get some confidence built for Beith on Saturday.
  8. Talbot are as professionally ran an outfit as you will ever see at this level. They will turn their attention to ways of blatantly chucking the playoffs when -and only when - the title is in the bag.
  9. I absolutely hate that rule that lets the lino flag for offside so late.
  10. Pretty much nobody claims that it makes you the "best of anything". It's a tired straw man argument.
  11. I was writing them off because I have seen plenty of trophy winning Talbot sides and what we were seeing for the first three months of the season was far, far removed from that. We really were struggling, although I get the impression folk on here thought the Talbot fans saying that we're at the mind games. We've been playing increasingly well since new year and have built a bit of momentum but we still only pick up three points for a win and still required several snookers. The real reason we're back in the hunt is that the lifelines have been arriving thick and fast due to the sketchy form of the leading pack and long may that continue!
  12. I've only just began to think we can challenge for the league. Suddenly the nerves are kicking in ahead of games! We could be back out of it with a couple of poor results but the turnaround has been a pleasant surprise. The Talbot support has been excellent with the new lads this season and they've come good for us. We just need to stay supportive and remember that being anywhere near the top of the division after such a massive transition is a bonus.
  13. I reckon Hurlford will be our hardest game in a while. Any sort of win will do me fine.
  14. It definitely isn't great. It can be decent if you cough for a decent seat but if you're behind the goals forget about seeing the game properly.

  16. A neighbourly dispute over someone's fushias encroaching on their property blown out of proportion.
  17. Yep, it's not going to retain the lingering identity as the former top division of the West Juniors indefinitely. We're fortunate to an extent that Beith and Darvel didn't go up as they're both of value to the WOS as big teams that opposition fans will turn up to see, and happily visit as an away game because they're decent venues. Had they been promoted we'd already be well on the way to a less attractive-looking WOS. I give it 5 seasons tops before it's a bit pish.
  18. Nobody is that enthusiastic about swapping something they currently enjoy for playing civil service strollers and hearts dafty team. I think most traditional ex-junior sides in the WOS league would be happier to let a few of the self proclaimed "ambitious" sides go first to improve the appeal of the LL and then join them in a few seasons time. Personally I'd love to see Talbot in there next season. I've got no idea what the general feeling about that prospect is in the wider Talbot support these days.
  19. St Cadocs are in contention I'd say. The division doesn't have a single dominant side steamrolling their way to the title so there's always a chance for a less fancied team to nick it.
  20. Probably not. It's been a mad enough season.
  21. Massive games from here on. 4 at home and 8 away. I'm sure we'll drop points and have some off days but it's a far more exciting run-in than most folk expected around Christmas time.
