  1. Dark Skies - Insidious with aliens, and not that jumpy. Pisspoor ending. 6/10. The Ring (US) - watched again, not seen it in a while so decided to watch again. Still a decent film 7.5/10. Let me In - Not what I expected. Quite a moving film in a weird way, I expected a horror. Some brilliant scenes. 8.5 / 10.
  2. Django Unchained. Finally got round to watching this. Massive Tarantino fan, which is down to True Romance and Pulp Fiction really. Nothing since has compared in my opinion. Kill Bill was good, but didn't have that magic about it somehow. Inglorious Basterds, although authentic with it's relentless French and German subtitles, may as well have been a foreign film and so must be marked down slightly for being a bit more challenging to watch. Django is superb. Good plot, excellent characters (Samuel L Jackson always seems to nail it, even with his small part) and even a good soundtrack. This is up there, in my very humble opinion, with Tarantino's other greats. Will watch this again the next chance I get. 9 / 10
  3. I'll second Death Note, only anime I've stuck with it's superb
  4. The Hobbit - 8/10. Wasn't sure how they would flesh it out to 3 films,. but this was for the most part good and enjoyable.. The wizard with the shit on his face annoyed me though, Peter Jackson's Jar Jar Binks imo. Went back and watched the extended edition Lord of the Rings Trilogy, which I have had for years and never got round to watching. 10/10. It really is amazing the depth of the trilogy, the planning involved and the fact they pulled it off, thinking about it.

    Dexter

Christ. What a superb series this has been, magnified by the poorness of S6. Am I right in thinking the next series is the last? Hope so, as things are set up to finish it off on a high.
  6. The Bourne Legacy. Forgettable action film. If it wasn't piggybacking off the original Boune movies, very forgettable. Some good action, but missing the magic of the original trilogy somehow. 5/10.
  7. Skyfall - 8/10. Good film, some decent action scenes and Daniel Craig is a pretty believable James Bond. The bad guy was believable too (as were his motives for being a bad guy which is always important). Up there with the best Bond films, I preferred Casino Royale myself though.
  8. Sinister - atmospheric horror. pretty dark from the off too. Not amazing though. 7/10 snatch - watched this again for the first time in years. brilliant. 9 and a half / 10.
  9. OOOOPS! On the plus side, someone from the BBC must have seen this, and they have offered me a job! woohoo!
  10. Downloading just started working again, so have a few to get through.. Chernobyl Diaries - forgettable horror. 5/10. Paranormal Activity 4 - more of the same. Hope the wee bird in it was of age coz she's pretty tidy! I like this series of films, so maybe my rating is higher than it should be for another rehash. Nonetheless, 7/10. Looper - Surprised me. Very good, and not a clean cut action film like I expected, and some strong acting. 8 and a half /10.

    Dexter

I like this season so far, a real return to form. For me, season 6 was the biggest steaming pile of jobbies ever, but this is back to seasons 1-5, or near to that quality at least. You can see all the walls closing in on Dexter which is when it's at it's best. I'm sure there are only 1 or 2 seasons left after this anyway, so they should have an end game in store for Dexter.

    Dexter

Dexter season 6 was almost laughably bad. The main plot itself was mostly garbage, and all the supporting cast are weak and two dimensional, and the incestuous subplot near the end was awful. But, the season end cliffhanger was well played, as obviously those who have watched Dexter from the start will be intrigued as to what will occur now Deb knows (sort of). If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't be looking forward to this, or even be planning to watch it. The trailer looks superb, and reveals more than enough to make me think season 6 was just a blip, and this one will be good. Saying that, the supporting cast are still all shit, and it would be better if they just cut it down to half an hour of Dexter, instead of revealing whether or not La Guerta will shave her beaver, and whether the hispanic dude (can't mind his name) will buy a new hat.
  13. Lawless A prohibition-era gangster film, which feels a bit like a western, with some real comedy moments. Tom Hardy nails it. Superb. 9/10.
