  1. To be honest, at this point there is a responsibility on each individual club to do their research - as there should be when considering future plans/changes. The LL/EoS cannot be expected to hand hold the whole way. Indeed, this kind of behaviour will be seized upon as “trying to steal our clubs” by the SJFA reps. Feels like we’re approaching the point of the LL/EoS pressing ahead in complete comfort and confidence that the WoSFL is happening regardless. Any clubs choosing to be left behind can apply as normal next summer.
  2. Another way to look at floodlight installation is of the potential reward to come once a license is acquired. By gaining annual Scottish Cup entry, you’re just a couple of games away from a few thousand in prize money (especially if the changes to prelim rounds come in). Long term, clubs can pay off the high initial cost with a few good runs.
  3. See, this is where I'm beginning to get frustrated. The SFA AGM will absolutely not "choose between the two" - that's absolute nonsense unless proven by documentation etc. The WoSFL is happening and will be a feeder to the Lowland. I fear that this may muddy waters for Junior sides who could well be left behind.
  4. That many now? Wow! Genuinely a game changer, on the assumption that most will likely proceed to application. Those numbers on their own likely stops the WRSJFA counter proposal in it's tracks.
  5. As Burnie says, there will now be a meeting called of interested parties and the formal application process will be announced by Friday. The current deadline for these to be lodged is the end of March, which could be extended in theory.
  6. Been in conversation with Gordon there. Feel like I've clarified that while the West Region's proposed league could come in at Tier 6 in theory, it would not obtain feeder league status to the Lowland without the agreement of all parties. Seems that he's well aware of this in fairness.
  7. So, in summary: - The West Region Juniors have every right to explore this option. The problem is that they've started the process too late in the day, having had the impetus taken away already. - The WoSFL application process will be laid out by Friday. Expect an accompanying statement from the Lowland & EoS. - I wouldn't be surprised to see the SFA release a statement/comment now, clarifying the current state of play. - The only was for a West Junior side to guarantee joining the pyramid remains to apply to the WoSFL.
  8. I have no idea how it will all pan out, unlike you, I am not being fed information. The only thing I see is that a few months ago everyone was desperate for the WRSJFA to come onboard. Now we're being treated like a paedo ring at a school outing. I think you’re being incredibly unfair there. Tone deaf, even. Equating your “treatment” to something like that is an absolute nonsense IMO. While one of two posters are clearly anti-SJFA blazers, most want to see the best solution reached for clubs and the pyramid alike. The WRSJFA needs to present articulate information re their proposals, and reasons why member clubs should back them ahead of the WoSFL. The Lowland and EoS have a trusted track record of clarity in setting up/extending leagues after all.
  9. I’d be stunned if there aren’t a minimum of 16 applicants. More likely to see two conferences. The thing with this West Region move is that the SFA can simply turn round and say “you had your chance, we’re proceeding on the WoSFL path” and leave them back at square one. Depends on whether any official comment is made from them I guess.
  10. I’m amused by the idea of legal action to stop a WoS forming. There is absolutely no legal basis for such an action. The Lowland couldn’t tell the SJFA not to proceed with the changes in the West Region a year or two back? If the contention is “poaching” of member clubs, then both the Lowland and EoS saw that possible issue coming a mile off. Look at the wording of all statements thus far - the ball is completely in the court of individual clubs. I might revise my 20-30 estimate of West Region clubs to move in the wake of this. Suspect it might be more now...
  11. It’s an old graphic that the guys used to illustrate the starting point before the whole saga began. I know it’s getting corrected as it refers to the Lowland as sponsored by P&J...
  12. Thought I’d share this article on the whole pyramid situation again for anyone that missed it this morning. Over 1,000 people have had a read so far - appreciate it folks! https://purefitbaw.com/2020/02/26/the-pyramid-conundrum/
  13. Article is up and ready to browse. Thanks again to all that leant me their voices. https://purefitbaw.com/2020/02/26/the-pyramid-conundrum/
  14. I can’t independently confirm anything but the whisper is out there. Might be true, might not be. Would make sense as to why the East Region clubs were unimpressed as well, given that they were an afterthought in this implied situation.
  15. What would have happened if the SJFA went back to the SFA offering the “West Region under our association at Tier 6” in a last ditch attempt to obstruct the WoS? Nothing, you say? Funny that...
  16. It’s currently in the works just recorded a few bits with Shire too!
  17. As I understand it, that’ll be the plan. Don’t expect any public confirmation on numbers of clubs interested or on applicants as they happen - that’ll most likely be left to the clubs themselves to share.
  18. It took Berwick a long time to adjust, not helped by boardroom upheaval over the summer. They’ve finally got a settled squad together and look like a cohesive unit - people definitely underestimate the talent level in the Lowland though. Put their current team in place at the start of the season and they’d still be outside the top 4/5 IMO.
  19. This may be of interest. As part of my prep for the piece I'm writing, I asked a couple of questions to representatives from senior & junior clubs as well as the Lowland. I'm sharing the full Q&As before the article comes out Sunday/Monday, so that people can refer to them without my editing clouding any judgments. Full Q&As - Thanks to all that gave me their time and answers.
  20. I suspect it ties in to the recent change of wording on club licensing. The SFA made it clear that seeking to enter the pyramid was part of having one, and now Glasgow Uni’s excuse of no appropriate league to join is about to disappear.
  21. As far as the Brechin question goes, I think it’s a simple answer. They knew the rules at the start of the campaign and kept schtum, don’t complain about them now as we approach the business end of things.
  22. As if this moment, the Lowland has no intentions of expanding from 16. We’ll see what happens in future. I’m currently writing a piece on the situation as things stand - will share in here when released on Pure Fitbaw. Got input from the Ants, Kilwinning, Bonnyrigg, Kilbirnie and George Fraser so are least it’ll be better researched than a certain red top!
