  1. Another 3 in Singapore, all from Wuhan. Is everyone from Wuhan infected?
  2. One of the potential giants has joined the fray with India getting a point on the board. Chinese national studying in Kerala. Maybe a bit isolated and far south, but don’t underestimate the potential of this giant to go all ‘Thai’ in there approach to this.
  3. Government here just announcing due to the face mask shortages, every household is to be issued with 4 masks, deployment starts on Saturday. They definitely don’t have aspirations to be true medal contenders!
  4. The economic impact will be huge. Extended holidays which companies will need to foot the bill for. Extended downtime in manufacturing will knock supply chains out for months. Cancelled flights, as well as the huge impact on moving people will have an impact on freight and again supply chain. Chinese are also inherently bad for returning to work after either of the big holidays so this will be a delaying factor. I may have said before, but the death rate of this, which some people are focusing on is one of the lesser issues. The speed of the spread of the virus is the bigger concern. That and Chinas handling of this (I think you alluded to this right at the start) are the big factors. That and if all the Chinese sneeze at once the earth with jump of its axis.
  5. I knocked back a secondment to Thailand for a couple of years a few months ago. Pretty sure I made the right call there. Are they being trained to help care for the sick bats?
  6. Like a good coup, do the Thais. Was in Bangkok for the last one. Plenty of shits and giggles.
  7. I think this is where Singapore will slip to mid table obscurity. They have been to defence in their approach and the post New Year bounce may not be as effective as elsewhere in Asia.
  8. This is outstanding! China may be the world leaders in this sport, but Thailand are the ‘flair’ team, always play with panache and a swagger that makes them a joy to watch. Will the government be setting up quarantine caves for the infected bats and hand out tiny little face masks and claw sanitisers? 6 years is an eternity in Thailand, not time for another coup and the Police to have their turn again?
  9. Honestly not happy about this. I’m sure there may be complaints to the governing body. The latest three in Jaoan are all ringers brought in from Wuhan yesterday. How is this even a fair competition?
  10. Finally CNA getting their shit together. Updated table shows the strength of China in this competition and Thailand and Singapore strengthening Bronze and Silver. The chasing pack and relegation end much tighter. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/wuhan-virus-world-health-organization-outbreak-12368176
  11. Through the 7000 barrier in China (now 170 deaths from 7158 infections) These guys are unplayable! Many Airlines either canceling or scaling back flights to China. Thailand certainly seem focused on second prize with such gems as ‘to avoid tourist areas like Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.’ Nothing like being specific. This kind of vague attitude should ensure they see of the challenge pt Singapore and Malaysia for bronze. Thailand confirming they had the foresight to import 25,000 professionals on flights from Hubei and other infected areas of China without screening. *Slippery P, can you do something about that before I arrive Monday? France move up the table on 5 points and certainly the Strongest European performers. However, Spain look to get into the game with a unique move: Wuhan Zall, the Chinese Super league team arrived in Malaga ahead for pre-season training. Stranded Wuhan citizens were finally shipped home from Singapore on a specially arranged Scoot flight after previous flight suspensions. Staff checking them in wore full protective clothing including safety googles. WHO are planning. declaring this a global event, Olympic committee to consider it for a future regular event. Wexit for the British nationals in China has been delayed (like its bigger cousin, Brexit) and UK and China could not agree on the terms of the transfer. Looking back at the pictures of the nuggets, it looks clear that no one actually wants them.
  12. Definitely, huge budget available to them, but they have been very focused on defence. Tracking every major contact to the initial carriers to the island, actually tracked some to JB and altered Malay authorities and out of 115 people still in Singapore they have tracked down all but 4. That really is impressive. They have issued legal and advisory directives to everyone, right down to house cleaning. You would think the didn’t want to win this competition or something! I kind of think they will have this under control by the weekend and by the time the incubation period runs, they will slip into relegation territory. Or they better as SLF are playing here mid February and the gig better not be cancelled! Jake Burns, man up! Frankly speaking, I don’t think the world is taking this serious enough. China is heading towards having a huge infection of the sniffles and if those fuckers all sneeze at once the tectonic plates are going to shift!
  13. 3 more cases in Singapore, brings us to double figures and clear third for now. ‘Punching above our weight’ may the correct term now.
  14. The two weeks is only for the incubation period. Theoretically you should have started to feel symptoms by the 17th January. 31st December the WHO was updated on initial cases in Wuhan itself and publicly announced 2nd. Infections by the third were nominal and confined to Wuhan. The spread only started with the onset of Lunar New Year. Having said that, have you started to have cravings for bats and snakes and partial to rice? Best quarantine yourself just in case.
  15. Lion Air (Indonesia) now suspending all flights to China from 1st. Expect this to be. common theme the next few days Malindo Air flight from Sabah quarantined in Tianjin because two passengers unwell.
  16. UAE now allegedly joining in the competition. On a positive note, Starbucks have started closing their stores in China. Maybe this Brave New World after the sniffles won’t be that bad after-all!
  17. Tuesday morning Reporter asked the Health Dept "Do we know how this virus is travelling"? Class. With that kind of response, the health department individual should be invited onto this thread, he would fit right in. Just about to top 6000 in China with 9000 being tested.
  18. No league table from CNA yet, hopefully the creator hasn’t succumbed to the deadly sniffles. A lot off activity, so maybe needs time to compute. Singapore and Malaysia put in strong first half performances, now hitting 7 each to challenge Thailand for second. Thailand blinked, then pulled away with an impressive performance in front of goal, asserting their superiority and cementing second with a 14 total. China though continue to show their class and dedication hitting a high of 5496 (SARs has a higher ‘kill rate’ 14% against the current sniffle rate of 2%, but this spreads much faster). 25 new deaths for them. At the relegation end of the table Ivory Coast join the fray as do Canada and Cambodia. Vietnam, who should be a medal challenger finally doubled their tally to 2. Surely the countries governing body will be reviewing the managers position for such a shocking display. First ringers for the US are mid air as this is typed, enroute to Anchorage. (https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/k4371). UK are still undecided on whether to bring ringers in from Wuhan after seeing the players on offer. Videos purporting to show Wuhan residents shouting and singing to each other to stay strong have been miss translated and they are allegedly demanding the immediate expulsion of these ringers. Coronavirus: Britons in China want more support from UK https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51279436 Singapore following the legal declaration of quarantine have now stated, anyone in quarantine will be paid S$100 (£55) daily. They are not accepting applicants from Paisley, Greenock or Fife.
  19. Two new cases in Singapore, we are after you Slippery P. Entry or transit now blocked to nationals with Hubei issued passports or have been there recently. 2000 Hubei residents here to go to quarantine if deemed necessary and “Quarantine orders have legal force”. Next will be shoot to kill policies :-)
  20. Would have to be some size of a multi-storey building! Quarantining anyone with flu would be a hell of a resource issue. We are slap bang in the middle of flu season for most of Asia right now. Like Singapore they are probably quarantining people with fever and other symptoms only. They have designated areas which they used before, two old holiday camps and part of a military base. They will use them unless the protestors fire bomb them first.
  21. And the spike starts. China announce now 106 deaths and 1300 new cases since yesterday.
  22. Really taking off as a global event, the minnows of Sri Lanka strike early this morning. Could this mean another potential ‘big hitter’ in India opening their account soon? Unofficial reports coming through that Pakistan have struck 5. Trying to get one of our roaming reports over to the stadium to confirm. India and Pakistan would be perceived as realistic challengers if they enter the competition, but are they maybe joining too late?
  23. The battle for third intensifies. Singapore get another point on the board, up to 5, but its anyones guess who can break away. As Slippery P said, Cambodia get of the mark with a dramatic late entry last night and Vietnam finally for over their goal glut and move up a point. Unsurprisingly Nepal could be isolated at the foot of the table if they are not careful. Its ‘back to work day’ for most Asian countries, MTRs and buses full again after the long New Year holiday. So expect to see points hitting the boards from tomorrow. News just in from the teleprinter. China notch another to 82, with 2863 and USA may have picked up another point. Possibly the ringers starting to perform as they chase Thailand for second. As Granny Danger pointed out, the markets are starting to see the severity and political issues in this scenario and the possible lack of truth coming out of China. With the extended holiday in China to 2nd February will mean delays to all your shit from iphones to toilet rolls (and face masks) and the loss of production and freighting will have a big impact on the global economy. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/wuhan-virus-singapore-fifth-confirmed-case-moh-12359140
  24. Sukhumvit Road soi 3-13 you say? Feel like a new man you say? Lying on my bed you say? Are we still talking about a hazmat suit? Will actually be staying closer to Bangplee and around there, Rayong and Ayutthaya.
