  1. Good call. We are there for a few days before that game so might find a bar, but I will try your idea.
  2. Good to know about the smaller cities as we have a few other spare days. I do not drink but think my mate likes the odd glass! Looking forward to experiencing more of Germany. I have been about 4 times but all been mini breaks. This will give us more time.

    Stuttgart

Seeing there was no mention is here thought I would start a thread. Me and my mate are based in Stuttgart for two weeks. Going to Munich and Cologne on day of games and staying the night before heading back next day. No tickets (still looking) so it will be fanzones. I think Munich and Cologne will sort themselves out fanzone-wise but Stuttgart will be showing the Germany game while we play Hungary at same time. Hopefully something will get sorted as you could have thousands of Scotland and Hungary fans wandering about trying to find the match. Hungary fans have a bit of a reputation and there FA refused to sell tickets so expecting a few to travel without. Obviously there is pub/fanzone for other matches. Going to do walking tour, Mercedes Museum. Maybe the Porsche museum. Red hop on bus has mixed reviews. Any other suggestions? We have DB pass just now, will cancel it next week, so would consider trains or flixbus to other places.
  4. Just booked some of my trip. Based in Stuttgart with my mate. Stuttgart to Munich is by Flixbus on day of game. Fanzone for game. Overnight in Munich In an Airbnb. Then going Munich to Zurich by Flixbus in time for Swiss kicking off and other games in a fanzone/pub there. Overnight in Zurich in AirBnB. Walking Tour of Zurich then Flixbus to Stuttgart. Train to Cologne using DB ticket on day of game. Fanzone. AirBnB that night. Walking Tour next day then train back to Stuttgart in time for some of the games. Stuttgart fanzone for game. We will pad out other things but as long as the main things are sorted. Will wait until a few days to go is case I need any more trains before I cancel my DB ticket. I have given up a few Airbnb's for the night of the games in Munich and Cologne if anybody is interested. They are just a double bed in a room. About £108 for two people in a bed. They knew it was two hairy arsed Scotsmen coming and they were OK with it. Ps. Thanks to Arch Stanton and Welshbain for their advice.
  5. Pity it is only one. I am looking for two tickets for any of the Scotland games.
  6. I do not think the players were nervous today, just bad. We have seen it many times this season. We had about 5 corners in a row that hit first man/never went to a Dundee United player. I never really saw the sending off but the ref got a good look and certainly was in no doubt. But as soon as it went to 10 men I think Ayr went more defensive. Up until that point they were always in it and we have suffered a few wonder goals this season, so anything could have happened. A draw would not have been an unfair result in a game neither keeper had real saves to make. At the final whistle we clapped the team but quickly fecked off to the pub. While it would take freakish scorelines for us to lose it, as far as I am concerned, until we are officially over the line it is not done. On to Aidrie on Friday it is.
  7. Nicola will charge a fortune. I mean after all they will have that SNP party funds shortfall to make up and her husband will have legal fees to pay...again. Innocent till poven guilty though. Anyway, I asked that question when Scotland qualified so I am on first dibs!
  8. No probs. Just going for the party. Happy to buy 2 tickets for any Scoland games (only at a reasonable price) but not of out 14 of our applications got lucky in any of the 3 ballots. Stupidly I gave up my Scotland travel membership a couple of years ago (due to various circumstances), I had it since 1995. Them that have tickets are the lucky ones. Could stay home and save a fortune but for Scotland fans big tournaments do not come around often enough. I was lucky enough to get to Euro 96 and World Cup 98 and those memories still live on.
  9. Think that is only for people with match tickets. Not sure I will chance it not having any. . When I have been on my travels there always seem to be somebody inspecting your tickets. In Japan is was a train decked In livery inside and out...in Hello Kitty!
  10. I got the Bahn card pass 2, but as I said, unfortunately my mate has not yet (Thursday), so until he comes back and gets one I cannot book anything. I looked at the Flixbus for Cologne as we at 10 mins from the airport in Stuttgart (dinna ask, my mate panicked and booked it when the draw was made) but think it can take 5hrs as opposed to 3 by train. But it is £30 return as opposed to about £100-£150. See what he says. 5hrs and saving £100 each would be worth it. I backpack a lot so roughing it is no issue for me. I did 25hrs on a train in China which you could not get off and a truck in Africa which took 22hrs!
  11. I just bought the DB pass but unfortunately it would not let me buy one in mates name and he is on holiday with sh!tty Internet connection so have to wait until he gets home. It looks like we will only need a train to Cologne from Stuttgart and returning to Stuttgart next day. But prices for us two on train are mental. A Flixbus Stuttgart-Munich is only £16 with your seat booked! So if anybody has two seats going Stuttgart-Cologne and either returning after game or next day we would be interested. DM me.if
  12. Ripping off fans whether they stay or go.
  13. Tell her it will be full of drunken scotsmen and Hungarian hooligans, so not a safe place for a woman to be
  14. When we're 2-0 up and Kai put in a cross that the Raith keeper had to tip over the bar, I was crapping myself because I had not put the bet on. It was 11/1 for 3-0 without naming the goalscorers. I was relieved when Fotherigham went off. When Scotland beat France at Hampden all those years ago my mate asked me if I wanted to put a bet on. I said the image of Trezeget giving it the 4 finger to salute to Gary Caldwell had been going through my head, so I said 1-0 Caldwell to score. It was 200/1. My other mate came back and as it was his birthday he had the casting vote and said 1-0 Scotland, Davie Weir. I never put the bet on. When Caldwell score it was bedlam in the stands, then it was announced over the tannoy he was the scorer and I just turned to my mate and said "You just better hope somebody else scores, anybody!" The rest is history.
  15. I am similar. All the signs point to a defeat, draw but for some reason 3-0 United kept popping in my head last night as I slept. Team to finally get there finger out and Moult, Watt and Fotheringham to come good. I need to go lie down again and have a re-think. Madness!
  16. Think you will find it should be she/her/hers, he/him/his, and they/them/theirs. There are other nonbinary pronouns.
  17. Fazones. Spend all that money on beer!
  18. There is a car park on Catherine St but it is relatively limited and I am unsure how it fills on match days as I always come from the opposite end of town. It is also at the opposite end where Raith fans will be. Clepington Road is another area with on street parking. If you park around about Frews there are a couple of boozers as well as a Tesco Express, a Greggs and a Chipper/Pizza place if you want some grub before or after. Enjoy you day out, but not with 3 points.
  19. If you are up early enough (say 1.30 ish) park on Stathmartine Road/Moncur Crescent/Dens Road. You will be near the end for away fans If you can get in Frews bar, it is a real football pub with a decent pint (but the owner Jimmy can be funny about away fans sometimes) then you will be fine, but there a few other pubs nearby. It is 5 mins to the ground.
  20. As a United fan, the way we are playing, I would be happy with it hitting off the backside of anybody or an OG!
  21. That is why I added thereafter. While Saturday can give either team a big boost it is by no means over. I too think both teams will drop points on the run in and it will come down to who holds their nerve best. As for the tickets. It does seem to be bit of a fiasco. I would be fuming if I was a Raith fan but could not get one at what will possibly be one of the biggest games of the season.
  22. United go into the game knowing only a win will do. That would put us 4 clear and Raith would have to win their game in hand and make up two points because of the goal difference. A draw potentially puts it in the hands of Raith. But setting up for not to lose can sometimes be counter productive. You are caught between two minds. All comes down who deals with the pressure better on Saturday and thereafter.
  23. Unfortunately we are too late in the day to get rid of Lucky Jim. We we are stuck with him till the end of the season. But even if we were to sack him who is going to take that poisoned chalice?
  24. Not sure, but they (nor Goodwin) can not be trusted to try and get us up this/next season or in a relegation battle in the Premier.
