Today marks the date of the worlds most entertaining sporting spectacle - The Rangers go tits up! Let's hope the Olympics doesn't steal the limelight!

Is there not a danger of agreeing a TV deal on the basis of guaranteeing Sevco fixtures... So when they go tits up then the deal becomes void? Where have I heard that before...... ?

Similarly, if a "club" is an intangible, abstract notion how does it die? Is it truly a zombie?

I really don't see how they can do this. You simply cannot have one club called Rangers (in administration) existing simultaneously with another called Rangers (in SFL3) surely??

Surely 'Rangers' (in administration) - and 'Rangers' in SFL3 can't exist at the same time??

Does anyone know for sure if Sevco are going to play as "Rangers"? - same shirt? Same badge? - what are the rules?

just like to say that I'm very proud of Pie and Bovril, and all the diddy fans. Without us, I am convined 'Rangers' would be in the SPL and the travesty would have continued. This isnt the end - but they have the measure of who we are - and we will prevail! Now get behind your clubs - and prove that they were right to back us - come what may!

Sky News this morning now projecting 21 supporting "relegation" to SFL3.

Looks like Queens are a yes. Bugger. Supported Queens home and away for more than 40 years. Some of the best days of my life have revolved around Queens. 5-4 against Ayr, 6-0 against Dundee, beating Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup, losing to Rangers (RIP) in the final, Queens in Europe. Now looks like a clear sell out to Sevco- even tho they know and state that it's morally the wrong decision. It's a sad day for a Queens fan.

To be fair I emailed this to Mark Robertson a couple of weeks ago : "As a long-term supporter (now expat, so don't get to many games!) I am dismayed at the current shennanigans surrounding the 'accomodation' of the Newco formed out of the demise of Rangers FC. It is my understanding following press reports, that there is a 'proposal' of reforming the SPL/SFL solely in order to accommodate the Newco FC in an SPL2. I sincerely hope that this proposal is not supported by Queen of the South FC. It is an obvious point that we were defeated in the Scottish Cup Final by a team which has been found to be living beyond their means, utilizing EBTs, and not paying appropriate levels of Tax. These issues surrounding Rangers FC are now well documented and Rangers FC are now undergoing liquidation. The Newco (which to be honest will have exactly the same identity as Rangers FC!) seem to be treated with kid gloves. This is a New Company and no more entitled to a place in the 'new' league set up than any other new company or ambitious junior team. Why should they get into a league, just for asking, when many teams have struggled within their means to achieve such a status? League reformation does need to occur most supporters know this but surely it should occur independently of pandering to Rangers FC? By all means restructure, adopt a pyramid system, have play-offs but this should not be to accommodate Rangers FC (Newco FC)!!! The Newco if admitted anywhere should be admitted at the bottom of SFL3. End of story. I hope that I'm not the only voice that is objecting to this proposal. I am sure that many fans would just give up if the SFA/SPL/SFA 'accomodated' these cheats. It will NOT benefit Scottish Football it will make it a laughing stock. I sincerely hope that Queen of the South FC do the right thing." The response I got (and at least I got one was :- Nice to hear from you. You can rest assured that if and when the Board of QOS asked for their opinion, they will do so with the best interests of QOS and Scottish football at heart. Mark R

There's a "waiting for clarity" statement on official site. Billy Hewitson was in Standard on Friday but was non-committal. All the blog posts I've seen are saying SFL3 - so they better listen!!

I'm convinced that no matter WHAT happens the entity of Rangers Football Club will never be expunged from Scottish Football. It's been referred to as Zombie Rangers a few times for different reasons - but like a zombie I'm not sure that it is actually killable! Yes, the "Company" is being liquidated, the assets sold to a different company, a new team trying to enter the league - BUT - it will STILL be called Rangers, It will still play at Ibrox, in Bue, with "Ready" on the crest and a predominance of non-Scottish flags in the crowd!! In a staement from the Rangers Supporters Trust they say “Rangers Football Club has existed and prospered for 140 years. We are in the middle of a very difficult period in our history but are resolute in the knowledge our club will be here for another 140 years and beyond." "In the middle of a very difficult period in our history"???? ffs - they are at the end of it!! I might actually be swayed to feel better about them in the 1st Division IF they were forced to drop this pretence of identity continuity!! Tell just them it's a CONDITION that they call themselves Govan Athletic, play in Green, and have a crest with "Contrite to the End"!!

Can they even play friendlies without being registered with the SFA? When will we know if they have registered the Sevco Club and players?

Well said - just hope you're right! We've been like this at every major decision point - and so far it's still going (slowly) in the right direction! I firmly believe that the SPL will defer the vote - and SFL will just wholly abstain from any action next week!
