  1. Played 5 league games in Fife this season. 100% of our goals in Fife have been scored at Starks Park.

Before the game, I couldn’t understand us playing Todorov up against Berra and Benedictus. That was never going to work in our favour. Felt we needed the movement of O’Hara and/or Wighton. A lot of people I spoke to thought the same.

No surprises then that first 45 mins saw Raith batter us and fail to take their chances, after taking an early lead. Meanwhile, when we got the ball, we just played it long to Berra/Benedictus, so we’re absolutely useless.

Made the changes at half time and Raith’s defence were clearly stretched/struggling. Offside goal looked tight, but was a cracking finish. We deserved the goal. Then we really looked like a team who haven’t won a game yet and completely collapsed. Only to hold on for a draw, thanks to a fantastic save from OFW. Everyone on the park and in the stands thought that was in. Truly magnificent from him in that moment.

For us, Vytas looks solid at the back. Edwards did well defensively and put in a great ball for the goal. Comrie was surprisingly average and Connolly didn’t look fit. Kennedy didn’t do much for me, Dow had a fairly decent game, without being spectacular. Todorov was garbage, but Wighton and O’Hara changed the game and deserve credit for their contributions.

Thought Tumilty was very lucky to stay on the park, when he went through Edwards very late, having already been booked. Other than that though, thought the ref had a good game, including spotting Kennedy’s pathetic dive.

Grant made the changes at half time. Does he deserve credit for that? I’m not convinced. His poor starting tactics meant he had to make 2 subs to correct that and as a result, we effectively finished with 10 men - due to Dorrans hobbling around.

  2. It’s gone totally under the radar but that wee begging bowl asking for extra money when you buy a ticket is just a terrible look.
As if you haven’t already been mugged of £20 to watch absolute pish.

Wait, we have a ‘donate’ button when you buy match tickets? Surely not? I knew they had it for season tickets, which was bad enough, but that would just be ridiculous.

This board constantly beg for donations and plead poverty, bleeding the fans dry and expect us to just accept mediocrity and act as if there’s nothing wrong with their (mis)management of the club. No issue with the lifeline, but we should really be capable of operating within our means by now, without constantly asking for donations.

  3. Heard it from an ex player, is a shame considering he was our longest serving player. Nice of the club not to even bother announcing it either.

That’s really poor behaviour from us. He was with us for a long time and was looking like a really good player before covid hit the country. Terrible way to treat him, if they can’t even publicly acknowledge his departure and thank him for his service to the club over the last 9(?) years.

  4. I count 8 genuine central defenders for us, 4 of which were signed by Peter Grant. Mark Connolly, Paul Watson, Lewis Martin, Ross Graham, Rhys Breen, Vytas Gaspuitis, Leon Jones and Paul Watson all guys who can play centre half. Aaron Comrie has also been in there this season but he's a full back.
Lewis Martin is a long term injury and in Grants interview today he confirmed Lewis McCann and Iain Wilson are on there way back but no mention for Martin. He didn't play a single minute last season either so unlikely we'll see him anytime soon but that still leaves us with 7 CB's, Rhys Breen also hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and Leon Jones has only played 70 mins.

Watson’s in there twice. But 7 is still far too many, when there’s no reserve football.

  5. Just a thought. The other 3 CBs - has he signed them all based on their ability to play in a back 3 and maybe he doesn’t trust them enough/think they’re capable of playing in a standard back 4?

Regardless, the fact that none of the 3 he’s signed so far to play at CB can get a game, why are we allowing him to sign another one?

We finished the game on Saturday with 1 fit striker, 2 fit wingers and having failed to score in 4 of our 6 league games. Meanwhile, we have at least 1 CB confirmed as fully fit, but not even making the 18 man squad. Surely an attacking player is (quite obviously) more of a requirement?

  6. Who are the pars injury worries? says in the courier, but need to sign up to read the article [emoji849].

According to Grant, all 3 subs on Saturday were made due to injuries (Kennedy, Wighton and Todorov). Heard that Edwards was in pain after the game as well.

None of that gives me any reason to believe that 4/5 of our 6 CBs are injured/we need to loan someone else in to play there. If we’re down to one striker, it’s more likely we’ll look to bring emergency cover for there. Likewise, if Kennedy’s a doubt, Grant might look for a winger, so that he doesn’t have to play Dom Thomas.
  7. As others have said previously there is no better place for struggling opponents to visit on the lookout for vital points. That old Managers cliche...........” it’s a really tough place to go” certainly doesn’t apply to Palmerston as the records show.

In fact Grant should be saying ..........”if we can’t win there I will “walk” voluntarily with no severance package”.

It’s more likely that he’ll compare a trip to Palmerston to a trip to the supermarket. After all, in his latest interview he’s managed to compare a footballer playing in a derby to a woman being pregnant.

  8. That’s the most annoying thing for me. With no fans for 18 months, they had a huge opportunity to draw in big numbers like the first season under Johnston. A decent managerial appointment & good marketing for season tickets is all it would have taken. They’ve went the complete opposite way & id expect our attendances to be as low as they have been in the last 20 years over the coming weeks.

Agree with this. I expected a big push and a wee marketing campaign to get fans back and get them excited. Instead, we’re left feeling alienated and with many just not wanting to go back. We were sold this whole ‘fan owned’ model, as if fans have a voice and it was a group of guys who understand and relate to fans. Instead, we’re left with some of our more wealthy supporters, who don’t actually know how to run a football club and don’t seem to understand the average football fan. I’m not sure they understand the fact that paying £20 per week is a lot of money for some people. The least they could do is try and be ambitious, rather than accepting mediocrity and having people question whether it’s worth paying money to attend games - and we’re long past that stage. People have now realised that it’s not worth it.

Appointing a manager who looked so far out of his depth last season, because he played ‘good football’ and bragging about dismissing 80 applications in favour of headhunting the guy is embarrassing behaviour and not what any fans wanted to happen at all. It really makes me question what they know about football. The object of football is to win games. Therefore ‘good football’ gets positive results. Passing it around the back and getting possession stats up counts for absolutely nothing - as the league table should have shown Peter Grant and our board last season.

I missed going to games when we weren’t allowed. I was really looking forward to being back. But was surprised that there seemed to be no real push from the club. No encouragement for fans to return, nothing to try and get people excited. Then the league campaign started and I fear they’ve really blown it. Why on earth would anyone want to come back now, when the product is dreadful and we have a proven failure in charge?

I’m only attending games, since I live just along the road and have paid for my season ticket. But it almost feels like a chore going to games now. Not planning on going to any away games - other than Raith this week (again, ticket already bought), until the club sort out the mess they’ve made. This is the most disconnected I have felt from the club in about 30 years.
  9. Nah I'm taking nothing for granted here regardless of Dunfermline's league position. We're notorious for gifting teams their first win.

Not convinced this is true at all. It’s the kind of rubbish that fans of most teams spout, when they’re facing an out of form team. Doesn’t make it true though.

You won every game against Alloa last year. If the whole ‘we never do well against struggling teams’ narrative was true, you’d have at least dropped points.
  10. I doubt that very much. We have a horrible habit of letting struggling teams get back on track with a win at Stark's. Just go back to how we started QoS season at Christmas last year. This will be close. We're also not very good at holding on to any decent lead we might have with 15-20 minutes left to play.

Unless you somehow lost at home to Peter Grant’s Alloa, I think you’re safe. I honestly think we’re somehow an even worse team than them.
  11. Alan Johnston got sacked for much less btw. Not defending him at all, but shows what a dire situation we are in compared to then.

I reckon the board gave him an ultimatum after the Arbroath game to get a certain amount of points by the international break, where the situation will be assessed again. Raith will body us on Wednesday night and I really doubt we can get more than a point at Palmerston, so they ought to do the right thing and punt the charlatan ASAP. Even though the game is only a few days away, give it to Shields ffs. At least he will be able to fire them up for a derby match.

This feels like a nightmare but you can’t wake up.

Agree that Johnston got sacked for less. Johnston had us competing for top 4, but a very poor run of form/performances saw us slip down the table to 7th. He was actually sacked after a 4 game unbeaten run (3 draws and a 4-2 win away to Falkirk). That’s a run of form that would be seen as a big improvement for Grant.

We got 11 points from the first quarter that season. I mean, it’s technically still possible to do better than that this season. But at the same time, it’s absolutely not going to happen. We got 9 points from the 2nd quarter and he was sacked after 4 points from 2 games in the 3rd quarter. I also think man for man, we had a poorer squad that season and there were better teams in the league - there’s no Dundee United or Ross County this season!

That performance wasn’t good enough, when the aim was top 4. Why are we accepting poorer results/performances, when the stated aim was to win the league? It doesn’t add up.
  12. Aye, whoever the co-commentator was - Raymond maybe his name? Said something along the lines of it being young lads who are frustrated but it wasn’t justified based on the performance.

Will have been hand picked by Brian, who runs ParsTV, based on who has been the been the most ridiculously positive person on DAFC.net. There’s a weird group of them who believe everything at the club is fantastic and they can’t accept any criticism of the club at all is justified. It’s like some sort of cult, where everyone else is wrong and not entitled to an opinion.

Anyone who thinks that performance yesterday was at all decent needs their heads checked. Inverness game was ok, given Inverness’ form up to that point and the fact we stopped conceding 3 goals per game. But yesterday seemed like another step backwards, rather than the hundreds of steps forward we need to take, in order to be competitive in this league. Our only attack worth mentioning was in the first 10 mins, when Wighton hit the post. Did absolutely nothing after that and were lucky to escape with a point, with the chances/long spells of pressure Hamilton had second half. I think any other team would have scored against us. But if we’d lost to a team captained by Andy Ryan, that would have been a new low.
  13. Wighton was clearly struggling and looked off it, then taking Todarov - who also looked liked he was toiling- off to leave only O'Hara up front would be a strange one even for that clown. Kennedy also looked done despite the boos from the crowds. All three looked like enforced changes changes me.

Yeah, think Wighton injured himself early 2nd half - went into the advertising boards after a challenge and never looked comfortable after that. Todorov seemed to be carrying some sort of knock and seemed even less mobile than usual. Certainly seemed to be struggling/hobbling about a bit.
