  1. Yeah. Half time subs played well. But midfield was horrific without Chalmers and corners were completely useless. Think we could have done with Todorov on earlier too, he’d have been attacking the balls into the box early in the 2nd half, where McCann and Wighton were stood next to each other, watching defenders easily clear them. 6 months ago, who’d have thought we’d look lost in midfield because we didn’t have Chalmers on the park?
  2. That was poor. Mehmet, Benedictus and Breen were all terrible - particularly first half. Benedictus improved second half. The other 2 didn’t. Clyde deserve their point there. Did their homework, knew there would be gaps out wide and punted it into the space as soon as they got the ball. Having said that, why do we not have more than one player at the club that can take a corner? Second half, we had so many corners. Nobody wanted to take them and those that did were terrible. A lot of pressure in the second half, some good play. But we crumbled when we got into the final third. Every ball into the box, even in open play, was going to the front post. But all of the strikers we had on the park at any point just lurked at the back post. Really frustrating that we never really threatened the Clyde goal.
  3. Glad you got it sorted. Although, seems inconvenient that the PPV option is removed for international viewers.
  4. Where’s this? I can’t see it anywhere. Not surprised though, when we went midweek they struggled to squeeze us into the 2 sections of the main stand! I don’t think they can sell PPV. Think it has to be a monthly pass or something?
  5. Can you blame him? For Nisbet, he has to believe he’ll get a better offer if he keeps scoring goals between now and the end of the season. Not necessarily a better deal for us/Hibs, but for his career.
  6. 100%. But I’m surprised McGlynn gets so much praise for the signings. In terms of attacking players, he’s signed about 5/6(?) strikers so far this season. That doesn’t suggest he knows what he’s looking for/what type of striker will work in his team. I get that he’s lost Alegria this window and he needed replaced. But it looks like he’s lost one striker and signed 2/3 hoping that one of them works.
  7. If Dundee were asking for a reasonable amount, I think trying to get Fisher back on a permanent basis would be a good move. Would minimise disruption and keep our reliable defence together. That’s the sort of player I’m thinking of here. Agree regarding the need for midfield cover too. But I don’t think McPake is looking for ‘cover’ - believe he wants any new signing to improve the starting 11 or offer something different. Not looking for us to start throwing silly money around. Just feel like there must be one or two players we’ve spoken to about pre-contracts that could help us secure the title and improve the team now, without it costing too much to take them off their current club’s hands. If clubs are unreasonable, then it’s not an option. I’m sure we’ll be asking the question though.
  8. I kind of took the “we’ll maybe know by Saturday” to mean that they’ll have an answer from the player/club and know if they’ll be here this month, rather than being signed today. Would love to be wrong though. If Hibs sell Nisbet, I’d like to think we could pay a small fee to get one or two of the players we’ve offered pre-contracts to just now.
  9. They’re a weird bunch. They’ve had that same mentality every transfer window for the last 3/4 years. Apparently they’ll never learn!
  10. Great bit of business. He’s been fantastic this season and was one of the very few that impressed last season. Great to have him under contract, which means we can command a fee in the summer, if he keeps up his form. Very few players seem to have extended contracts here in the last 4/5 years. Other than the former youth players (McCann, Todd and Allan) I can only think of Edwards, Comrie and Dow that have done so. Hopefully McPake can help us change that trend. Edwards joined when we went through a spell of paying nominal fees/compensation for younger players. Worth noting that he is the only one of those players that ever signed an extension. The others saw out their contracts and left for free.
  11. We’ll probably not get that much. If we assume the 30% sell on is correct, Hibs would need to get around £2.7m upfront for us to get £800k. Would imagine Hibs will accept an offer of around £2m upfront fee. With the 30% sell on, that would mean £600k for us - which would still be fantastic.
  12. I think we would need 4-5 signings. But largely because I think we’d need a bigger squad/more options. In the championship, I I don’t think we’d get away with having just 3 CBs at the club, no cover at LB and no wingers. I don’t think the issue is that the starting 11 wouldn’t be good enough, I just think we need more/better cover or options to change things up. How did Sam Young play last night? Glad to hear the team held their own. Dundee are clearly a better team than we’ll face at any point in the remainder of the season.
  13. Question for those who were at the game, did any Dunfermline players impress? Probably more interested in Dundee fans, who won’t have seen much of anyone before. Good to see McCann get a goal. Where did he play? He had spells left of a front 3 v Kelty and Edinburgh and certainly looked better there than when he’s been played as a lone striker. How did Sam Young get on - think he went off at 1-1? Hopefully did quite well, always good to see a 17 year old making his first start.
  14. Sam Young starting tonight, good opportunity for the young lad. Hopefully he can play well! Good to see Todd, Wighton and Comrie get a rest. Also good for the other 3 strikers to get a start. How bad must Max Little be? Can’t even get a run out in the challenge cup!
  15. Will give this a listen later. Enjoyed all of the others. Next one, Gary Mason? Had two spells, involved in a 4-4 draw with St Mirren in his last season.
  16. Apparently it’s not as rare as you’d think. In fact, it’s the second time we’ve played Airdrie twice in a row in the last 15 years. Last time the games were only 3 days apart. Done a quick look at fixtures from last 15 years and came across the following: Last season we played Killie away 12th Feb, had no game until 26th Feb, when we played Killie at home. Both in the league. 2010-11 we played Stirling away on 15th March, then home on the 19th. Both in the league. 2009-10 we played Airdrie at home 6th March, then away on the 9th. We also played Raith at home 16th March and away on the 20th that season - again, all of these games were in the league. We must have had a big backlog of fixtures!
  17. On the penalty, I think Breen had been moaning at the ref for the last 2/3 set pieces that he’d been getting held. Ref seemed to just be watching them and pointed to the spot when Breen was dragged down. For what it’s worth, I don’t think it would have been given if the ref knew the ball wasn’t put anywhere near the box. We played well yesterday and I think we deserved that bit of luck and deserved the lead at HT. Although Mullen obviously missed the biggest chance of the half! MacDonald had a very good game. Wighton was unlucky with his shot, where Sneddon made an excellent save. Thistle came out in the second half and deserved their goal. Both teams made changes and both were really going for the win, which made for an entertaining game. In extra time, other than Hamilton’s chance, it was a bit of a non-event. Two tired teams, we had a lot of the ball but that was the only thing created. A lot of positives from a Pars perspective. No shame in yesterday’s result/performance. We went toe to toe with a decent championship team and competed well. I’d rather we went through, obviously, but overall not too unhappy that we can focus on the league and sealing the title now. That’s our top priority this season.
  18. I don’t understand people claiming Fisher’s been recalled and they won’t play him. I honestly don’t think they’d have recalled him if they didn’t plan to play him. A Dundee CB broke his leg yesterday, so I think Fisher would have been recalled anyway.
  19. Gavin Reilly, discussing the Cammy Bell hat trick of penalty saves? I think he scored against Hibs…
  20. As I said I just don’t think ‘absolute dud’ would hit their targets. It’s as simple as that. McPake hit his target in getting Dundee promoted. For me, there’s a big difference between a manager that could have done better/has room for improvement and an absolute dud. He finished 2nd in the league, behind only Hearts, who will have had a bigger budget than Dundee. He won promotion in the playoffs. Is that not what his target would have been? Dundee were very inconsistent for the majority of that season and should have been further clear in 2nd/closer to Hearts. But he still hit his objectives. Yes, there are a lot of dud managers out there - I’m well aware of that! I just this assessment seems harsh. Its football though, everyone has (and is entitled to) their own opinions. At the end of the day, I’m glad things didn’t work out for him at Dundee in the end, cause I’m glad he’s here and doing well with us. I’m sure if/when things start going wrong here, you can come and slag me off when I’m calling McPake a dud and demanding he gets sacked!
  21. An ‘absolute dud’ would not have got you promoted. He hit the target of promotion, regardless of how he got there. Your strange posts are just as bad as the ones overhyping his success and it’s strange that you can’t see that. As I’ve said, I think he got the job done, but ultimately, change was needed at Dundee. He’s learned from that and has possibly become a better manager. An ‘absolute dud’ would come into the club, talk about winning the league, then get sacked after no wins in the first 12 games. Conceding about 30 goals in the process. Alternatively, another absolute dud would come in, sign a load of duds and try to pass teams to death, whilst in a relegation battle. Trust me, you’re in the totally wrong place if you’re trying to argue that a manager who hit his targets was an ‘absolute dud’. As I’ve already said, I agree with some of your assessments, but this is a ridiculous thing to say.
  22. Fontaine would be a solid replacement. Although we’d badly miss Fisher’s mobility, Fontaine could easily keep us solid until the end of the season, so secure the title. Can he train FT though? Gone to PT, may have other commitments and has a long injury history. No idea who would be available, whether on loan or permanent. Important that we bring in the right player to replace him, as our success so far has been based on our solid defence, which he was a big part of. Think it’s a good spot for a younger player, like Fisher was, playing in a 3 with someone like Benedictus leading the defence. No chance Dundee have recalled Fisher and don’t plan to play him. It would not benefit anyone to recall him, unless he’s part of the first team plans. Kid’s playing here every week and doing well. Would stall his progress and p*ss him off if they don’t play him. Then he’d leave in the summer without negotiating a new contract.
  23. “Despite being given free rein to build a totally new squad” - that part seems odd to me. If he signed a lot of players at once (and presumably offloaded quite a few?), then it’s hardly a surprise it took time for things to click. Expecting instant success with a new manager and high player turnover is asking a lot. I do agree with your comments on his second season. It wasn’t the undeniable success story that some people seem to paint it as. If you’d been comfortably 2nd and gone up in the playoffs, it would have been, but you weren’t. Getting promotion would have been the target though and he undoubtedly achieved that. Didnt see enough if you in the Premiership to comment. But you did come straight back down, so hard to argue he did well that season. Having said all of that, McPake has been fantastic for us. He has been very honest about learning from mistakes and Dundee and believing that he is now a better manager for it. I think he feels hard done by. Dundee’s board knew they were appointing a rookie manager and didn’t seem to understand that there would be rough patches. Also, I’m really disappointed to lose Fisher. Wish the guy all the best for the future though. Very good player, who will be missed at the club.
  24. Fisher recalled by Dundee. We’re pretty desperate for a new CB now. He’ll be a big loss.
  25. From what I heard (from multiple people) at the time, it is 30%. Due to covid and it’s impact on finances, we accepted a lower upfront fee than the one we rejected in January 2020, on the basis that we got a 30% sell on fee.
