To be fair, the ‘serious foul play’ definition does mention excessive force. But it’s endangering the safety of an opponent OR uses excessive force. The height of the challenge and the fact he led with his studs into an opponent’s knee makes it a stonewall red card.

I’d assume he’s still not 100% after his illness, he was still a doubt for the weekend too, remember. Rather rest him for one other game and have him fit for the rest of the season, than force him through this one. Big loss, but would be a bigger deal if we gambled and lost him for longer.

Hes spoken before about how much he loves the club, and turned down better wages elsewhere to stay with us last Summer, but he clearly wants to play regularly.
We currently have 4 strikers already signed up for next season too.
He’s been really good for us and he’s the sort of striker that would do a job for any club in the championship. At his age, I think he needs to be somewhere that he’ll play most weeks. I was sceptical about his signing, but he has been brilliant - and we really noticed his absence in the game he missed with illness.
He seems to be enjoying himself here and he seemed to really enjoy his goal at the weekend. I just want him to continue this form until the end of the season and hope it’s enough to keep us in the division. Only once that’s sorted, can we think about his longer term future.

Was that not the same day the referee went off injured after about 5 minutes and we had some old guy running the line, or was that a different game? Sure that was against Airdrie as well.

I can only really judge players based on games against us/what I’ve actually seen and he looked useless yesterday. Can’t remember him doing much in the other games against us. For a guy his size, he lost far more headers up against Chris Hamilton than he won and even when Otoo played him in one-on-one with Mehmet, he didn’t really look like someone that thought he was going to score. Unless you think he had a good game and I should be talking about how amazing he was?

Just watched the highlights. Forgot about some of the chances we created. Matty Todd is just so good to watch when he’s on form. The difference he makes to our team is massive. Him in behind Kane works so well. Kane comes deep and draws defenders and Todd just runs into that space.
Was disappointed the highlights didn’t show Ayr’s diddy keeper trying to throw the ball to a teammate, but he ended up throwing it straight up in the air, then having to ‘handball’ it, to stop us scoring again. Think that summed up Ayr’s level of performance yesterday, to be honest.
Highlights also reminded me of Mehmet making a great save after an Otoo error. He had a solid game and looks a lot more comfortable after the switch to the back 4. Think he made another really good save, in an incident that ended up getting pulled back for offside. No failures in our team yesterday, all 16 players used out in a decent shift. The tracking back from our wingers was really good to see, great commitment from them and I wasn’t surprised to see we had to change 5 of the 6 players in front of our defence - I was very glad we’re finally able to do that too!
Dowds is a terrible excuse for a footballer. The boy Chalmers ran riot at EEP earlier in the season, so I was surprised to see him on the bench. Having said that, he did nothing when he came on either.

Kind of agree, but I’d also add that we’re so much better in attack when Todd’s on the pitch. I’d rather we had him out there for an hour, if he’s ready for that. Same goes for Kane.
I would expect Jakubiak to start, probably give McCann a rest.

Can’t be assed reading other opinions. I thoughts that was a decent enough performance. First half, we’d probably have been doing well to go into the break at 0-0, but two goals and we were laughing.
From there, we never really looked like conceding. Second half, we managed the game very well and never looked at risk of chucking it away.
Hamilton and MFW are excellent. The new RB played very well too, but Otoo and Chris Kane were the 2 best players on the park today.

Completely agree with this. In fact, I’d like to add that the narrative was that we’d won the league, despite being prudent. There was a lot of discussion around the fact we hadn’t spent a lot of money, but still managed to get out at the first attempt. We only added a few bodies and went with a small squad that was capable of winning the league. I was certainly praising the board for saving money in that sense and it turns out my assumptions on the financial performance last season were wrong.

I agree. I think lack of communication is a big issue here. If the board provided a decent update/reassurances, it would help to avoid the mass panic we’ve seen just now. It’s completely understandable that people are worried, the financial performance is incredibly concerning and I would have hoped for a bit more clarity regarding reasons behind this and the board’s thoughts/opinions on the short-term future and what should be expected.
Lack of communication is a recurring issue with the current board though, we were spoiled with Ross McArthur in that aspect, he was very good at keeping fans informed/updated. An operating update would have been very useful. It would be good to have an idea of how they plan to cut costs, increase revenue etc. and whether everything is still going to plan, or whether plans have changed. We don’t need to know absolutely everything, but some form of update/reassurance would have been beneficial.

We've got the balance sheet, there are no loans there. Loans from directors would be shown as directors loans. The only ‘loans’ are the convertible bonds. Within the accounts, it’s specified that no interest will be paid on these and they will be repaid in shares, so they won’t cost us anything.
This group of investors have already injected over £1.5m cash into the club. I find it really hard to imagine that this is money they plan to just throw away/write off. But they have always said it’s a long term vision, that starts with the academy being set up and the training facility being built. You can’t do either of these things without spending a lot of that money.
I believe that there have been a lot of added costs with planning applications and works needing done in order to gain planning permission. As well as paying people for coming up with detailed plans and others for surveying the land. There will also be costs for legal advice regarding planning permission and probably some fees for getting someone to check over the applications for the government grant - which we’ll have applied for a long time ago. These will be the most significant costs in this set of accounts, I would imagine. Unfortunately, none of these professional services are cheap.
In addition to all of that, we are currently hiring pitches for the first team and all of the academy teams for training and matches. That will not be cheap at all. These costs will no longer be required once the training facilities are ready for action.

Ok, regarding other creditors, see the below from accounting policies on Turnover:
“Season tickets sales are deferred, and together with gate receipts and other matchday revenue, recognised throughout the football season as games are played. Sponsorship and other commercial revenue is recognised over the duration of the respective contracts.”
Makes me believe that accruing these income streams will be the majority of the ‘other creditors’ balance.

Following @parsforlife’s question, I did a bit of digging about this government grant. It was only awarded last month, so will not be included here - but it was mentioned that planning applications etc were included in the profit & loss account.
Per the government’s announcement, total project costs for this phase of the training facility are expected to be £824k. This can be found in the Scottish download from the following link:

East Kilbride United got more money, for what looks to be a similar size of project. So did the charitable/community aspects of Falkirk and Partick Thistle.

In theory, this could happen if we’d received the money before 31st May. However, I believe it was only announced that we were getting the grant in January this year, which would mean it shouldn’t be included in the figures at all.
Every chance there are accruals in the ‘other creditors’ figure, for costs that had been incurred prior to 31st May and had not been paid/invoiced yet.

Not a great deal of information available, as we’ve taken every small company exemption possible. That’s to be expected though. Due to taking advantage of small company exemptions, we don’t have to disclose directors’ remuneration, which is obviously a contentious point, given rumoured salaries.
The finance part of chairman’s report mentions that we should have a better financial performance this year, due to increased away crowds at east end and prize money in championship being better. Also mentioned that the new floodlit all weather pitch should be available for club and local community use from April.
Obviously, we made a massive loss of over £1m. But we don’t have any breakdown of that and they’ve not provided any real details for reasoning behind that.
Very little movement in fixed assets - would expect a big movement next year, to reflect the training ground/facilities. Our current stock at 31 May was significantly higher than last year. I think this is likely to be having the new kit in-house and ready to sell prior to 31st May, or something similar. But that’s just my guess.
Our cash balance has dropped by around £600k, but was still sitting at £728k - which is very healthy. Although, it’s worth noting that the construction work underway just now will likely be reducing that a lot. But then, there’s this year’s revenue and the government grant that will cover a lot of that too.
Our creditors balance (due within one year or less) is also high and has increased a lot over the year. We owed £880k at 31 May, which was higher than our cash balance. Trade creditors of £187k is around a 400% of where it was last year. ‘Other creditors’ of £505k is also a strange one. Such a significant balance falling under ‘other’ is unusual. Most accountants/auditors would be looking for the company to provide some information/context behind a creditor balance that amounts to 78% of the cash balance. The ‘other creditors’ figure last year was significantly lower, at £172k. My suggestion/thoughts are that this will largely relate to season ticket revenue that was received prior to 31 May, but has been ‘deferred’ until the current season. Likewise, tickets/hospitality/sponsorship for the St Pauli match will have been treated the same at this point in time. It will be reversed out of there and allocated to this current season’s revenue, rather than any cash leaving the account for that ‘creditor’, in that case.
The long term liability remains unchanged. This relates to the convertible bonds for the investor group. Very unlikely this ever gets paid. It still seems incredibly likely this is converted into shares in the next year or so.
In terms of the future, the Going Concern note seems to have some specific mention that they are trying to forecast cash flows, with assumptions of several aspects; including net transfer activity and assumptions on performance of the academy. Those concern me slightly, as any assumptions may end up being overly ambitious. It also mentions that we have made assumptions on ‘loans from DAFC GmbH’ - which suggests they believe that the club will require more cash to be injected, but will need a return on any further investment.
Sorry if that’s not really helped anyone. I’ve tried to stick to breaking down factual information within the accounts, but have highlighted where I’ve given possible reason/assumptions that aren’t necessarily factual. Overall, the outlook isn’t quite as bleak as the net loss may suggest (in my opinion). But it’s important that we are as prudent as possible, as a club, for the foreseeable future.
If anyone has specific questions on something within the accounts, particularly regarding any terminology, I’m happy to give the best response I can. But any questions about what makes up any of the balances, would be pure speculation/guesswork.

Rovers fans were on this thread last week (after signing Ashcroft) touting Millen to us, because of his fallout with Murray. If he’s released, he can’t sign for anyone until the summer. Would have to be a loan deal and I don’t think we’d have any interest in him.

Certainly sounds like the performance regressed again which doesn't bode well for the next two fixtures.
Partick Thistle are better than Inverness. But we actually went out to win that game. The mentality is what I have the issue with, not the quality of players. I never claimed we were even close to being a top 4 team. I just don’t believe that playing for 0-0 against a team below us, that haven’t won at home in over 3 months and are going through an injury crisis is ambitious enough.
Inverness have a threadbare squad, with lots of players injured and others playing through injury. I’ve been reading/hearing Pars fans saying that makes you easy to play against for months now.
I’m frustrated that McPake went back to the 3-5-2 again, for no obvious reason. Frustrated that we just settled for 0-0 there, despite the fact that Inverness aren’t that good, they haven’t won at home for ages and are going through an injury crisis. Start the game fast and get the crowd agitated. You mentioned the atmosphere at east end being nervy, why don’t we try to make home fans nervous when we go away from home? It certainly worked a treat on Friday.
This isn’t a dig at you. I just don’t understand why our manager is making these decisions at all. Playing ok, getting into good areas, almost scored right on half time… nah, let’s go with the tried and failed system.

If they’d scored the penalty, that would have been Inverness’ first home win since 11th November (8 home games). It’s not as tough as it’s made out to be. We just made it look like it is. We should be trying to distance ourselves from the team in 9th, not playing for 0-0, managing a grand total of zero shots on target in the entire match.

On the football, was a good goal Airdrie scored. Great ball out wide, great cross and Todorov did what he does best.
Todd has to do better with a couple of his chances. Summers and Edwards both having stinkers. McGill and Todorov causing our defence problems.
