If it’s KRH, I don’t care about who else reports it as long as he signs. He would be a fantastic signing, really talented player and very entertaining to watch.

Paul McGowan? I feel like I’ve missed something on this thread today, are we expecting a signing to be announced imminently, or just a rumour?

Letting him speak to Dundee makes sense. No harm in allowing him to have that conversation. It’s only if he then expresses that desire to leave that it becomes an issue for you. I think he’d be foolish to walk away from a club/board that believe in him and will back him, to go to Dundee. I also think it would be a strange appointment for Dundee. They’re not exactly known for giving managers time and Murray is the type of manager they would need to be patient with. I think he will do well at Rovers if he stays. He’s a good manager and the board seem to be backing him to build a squad to fit his philosophy/ideas. But he’s not the man to bring in when you need instant results.

I genuinely forgot he was at Ayr for a while. Not a player I’ve ever rated, largely for the reasons mentioned in a few posts today. He’s lazy, his attitude seems awful and I just don’t think he’s that good. Goes down with the slightest contact, even if he’d be in a good position with the ball - and his dives are very unconvincing, so refs don’t seem to fall for it. He’s quite a selfish player too, from what I’ve seen. Fully expect McGlynn to sign him at Falkirk. It’s exactly the sort of signing I’d expect him to make (hasn’t he already signed him twice?) and the complete opposite of the type of player I’d expect McPake to sign for us.

I’d be very surprised if Todd and McCann were on such low salaries. With regards to KRH reported salary/demands, worth remembering we signed Breen from Rangers and they’re reporting his salary as being around £500 per week. If KRH wants to be here next season, I’m sure all parties will be able to make it happen.

Really poor if that’s the case. A bit of commentary would be good. Was expecting at least someone narrating/explaining what had happened in each month and explaining the significance of some goals/games, like the old ‘Champions’ and ‘Going Up’ videos. Little bit disappointing if we haven’t even bothered with that. Will probably just watch the interviews if that’s the case.

Reading his interview after signing, it’s a shame that he wasn’t sure what his future held after the Grant/Hughes shambles. Seems like he genuinely loves being here though. Not trying to claim he’s a boyhood fan or anything, but you can see that the club actually means something to him. Given he’s a solid performer and can play in a couple of positions, he’s exactly the kind of guy you want in/around the squad.

To be fair, he played in 40 games this season and 26 last season. 18 other appearances seems about right. Crawford gave him quite a few sub appearances in his first half-season.

Comrie and Edwards both signed summer 2019 and been first team regulars for majority of that time. Comrie played 143 games, Edwards has played 140. Every chance both players are over 200 games by the end of their new contracts. In the modern game, that’s very good. McCann has played 102 games, which genuinely surprised me. I expected the figure to be around 80. Todd’s played 84. Although McCann and Todd have been at the club longer, it’s hard to see them as long serving first team players as they’ve only been regularly involved for 2 years.

The list is a joke. If I’m trying to be fair, Darren Young should be winning that award. Don’t think they were expected to win that league pre-season, so he’s done a fantastic job there. McPake has done a great job, but winning league 1 with Dunfermline shouldn’t be treated as a massive/unexpected success. Still deserves credit and nominations for these awards though, due to the way he has turned us around at the club. Barry Robson has been a manager for for what, 12/13 games? Hardly manager of the year credentials. Credit to them for not just picking league winners, but Robson is a mental shout.

Issue with Grant’s stupid back 3 was the instructions given to wing backs. As soon as we got the ball, both wing backs would charge forward to be in line with the strikers. This meant that when we lost the ball, the RCB and LCB had to cover both the wide and central areas, effectively being asked to play full back and centre back at the same time. It was ridiculously easy for opponents to carve us apart. Unfortunately, our manager was too stupid to realise that, if the wing backs charge forward, someone else has to help out the defence. Opponents would attack the wide areas, the RCB/LCB would have to come out and none of the defenders knew who was responsible for marking strikers and wingers. It was a nightmare position for any player. An experienced CB would struggle with that. But Grant stuck a RB and a youngster with no real experience into these roles. Midfielders also weren’t tracking runners, as we had nobody in a Hamilton type role, so it was a shambles all round, constantly outnumbered and out of position. It was largely Grant not having a clue. But I’d still have expected midfielders (particularly experienced players like Dorrans) to be reading the game and trying to fill those gaps. They certainly shouldn’t be blindly following a manager’s instructions to the detriment of the team, when we’re conceding 3/4/5 every week.

Good news on Comrie. He was very good for us in the championship before, so I fully expect him to be an asset for the next 2 years as well. Also shown this year that he can play in a back 3 if required. Would be good to bring in cover/competition for both full back positions.

If that is Mehmet away, all the best to him. Recovered from a terrible debut season (which I’m putting down to mismanagement), to have a record breaking season. Personally, I think he’s replaceable and we can potentially bring in a better keeper. But I hope Mehmet goes on to have a good career elsewhere. Probably a good time for him to leave, as his stock will be higher than ever.

The decision that your board make here is so crucial. If you keep McGlynn and let him sign his own players in the summer, he needs a strong start to the season. If you start the season poorly and he gets punted in September/October, you’ll have wasted another season down in League 1 and lose a lot of money in the process - along with having some of his duds on 2/3 year deals, with nobody willing to take them off your hands. However, if he turns it round and manages to put together a football team, the board would (rightly) be praised for sticking with him. Personally, I think the first scenario is much more likely. If that happens, that’s a much more expensive scenario than punting him now. Just watched the goal from yesterday. You need 2 new CBs. Both of them are so error prone. Having seen them both at Dunfermline, they’re prone to lapses in concentration and neither seem to learn from mistakes. In fact, they both seem to blame/shout at everyone else for their own mistakes. Can’t imagine that makes them popular with teammates.

I don’t know who Swinney is, but if he’s involved in the decision to keep McGlynn and let him sign more duds for next season, I think he’s doing a great job.

I dunno why you’re talking about 7 penalties over 9 months. Number of games is the only really meaningful measure, not months. We got 7 in 36 games. We’ll get none for a 3 month period now, going by your logic, that would suggest we should have more. But we won’t be playing a league game… I do agree that it seems very strange you’ve only had one penalty over the course of the season. But I can only base it on games I’ve seen. You’ve only really had one penalty claim against us and I do think it would have been given with VAR, but I’ve seen incidents like that not given in several games this season. No point in comparing the semi final, where VAR was needed to give that. You possibly have had more than your fair share of bad luck. You’d obviously know better than me. But your fans on here are complaining about an Airdrie defender not being sent off when Allan pulled him to the ground (despite the fact footage shows the referee got it right) and the penalty decision last night, where the only controversy was that your player wasn’t sent off. That’s always going to make people doubt your claims, if your views are so unreasonable.

I think all teams could point to penalties they should have got, but didn’t. It’s definitely a more common occurrence than penalties being awarded that shouldn’t be. Referees are trying to make sure they don’t make the mistake of awarding penalties wrongly, so will miss some that should have been, if their view isn’t great. Also worth noting that a lot of your attacking players are bad for diving/throwing themselves to the ground at every opportunity. Kennedy, Nesbitt, Morrison and Burrell are all examples of that. If they’re doing that all game, a referee is always going to have that in their mind when the players go down in the box.

He’d probably fit what we’re looking for. He’d be a more mobile player to play with Bene and is a defender who is comfortable with the ball at his feet. I still can’t see this though. He’s fairly injury prone and prone to brain farts. But maybe McPake/Mackay believe they can improve some of his decision making. Not seen/heard this mentioned at all by any Pars fans, just seen a few Rovers fans mention it. So I’d imagine it’s just speculation for now.

FWIW Dundee were 11th when they sacked McPake, not bottom. Regardless, I agree that there’s no chance they’ll be coming back for him. Big decision for Dundee, with whoever takes charge facing a challenge to keep them up. Wonder what this could mean for the likes of Fisher, Byrne, McCowan and various other out of contract players - perhaps more likely they’re all released, so that the manager has more budget available to bring in their own players?

Don’t disagree with any of that. The Allan red is debatable. But I criticise inconsistencies in officiating, and we had O’Hara sent off (and an appeal rejected) for a very similar challenge. No malice/aggression, just considered too high or out of control I’d assume. I think both O’Hara and Allan’s red cards were harsh, but maybe that’s how referees have been advised to deal with that? Can’t understand how McCann wasn’t sent off. Also can’t understand the Falkirk numpties on here claiming it was a soft penalty. Clear penalty, clear red card. The decision should have been just as easy as Rae’s red card. Not sure how the referee has decided not to give the red. Not giving McCann a red card is honestly the worst refereeing decision that we can see on the highlights.

So you want to see an Incident again, but didn’t watch the highlights? Falkirk’s highlights show the incident - Allan pulls the Airdrie defender down and the defender drags him down with him. Your own highlights package shows that the ref got the decision spot on. It’s not the ‘easy route’ it’s the correct route.
