  1. And that time it was a clear and obvious mistake, it was never a red card. Anyway, overall well done to Saturday’s ref.
  2. I pretty much agree. He did an excellent job letting play go on for a decent advantage to accrue allowing Cameron to sublimely lob the ball into the goal from 45 yards, although I still think it was a yellow for the Saints’ goalie. He didn’t get much wrong, although from where I was sitting in The West Stand, I thought McCracken was lucky that the ref let him away with a very unnecessary high knee. Despite the gibberish from Mc Fadden and Mcann there was absolutely no need to go to the VAR monitor at the end of the game and I was delighted to see that the ref said, “Bollox to you lot, foul. Where is the clear and obvious mistake in my decision you complete bunch of tossers!”
  3. Carson has been a pretty good keeper, making amazing saves, but from time to time there’s a howler. McCracken hasn’t played as many games as Carson so the comparison is difficult. Yet I think Mc Cracken just shades it: he’s a great shot stopper, as good as Carson; he commands his goal area marginally better using a strong two fisted punch when under pressure, which is safer than trying to catch it and make a dog’s breakfast of it; and finally I think McCracken’s distribution is marginally better. Mind you lads, Harry Sharp isn’t bad either!
  4. After the nightmare delays at the Friarton bridge during the week I’m taking the train to Perth. Haven’t done that since there was Muirton! So time for some grub and a few decent beers at the Old Ship then off to the match. Cmon the Dee
  5. Totally right. He never once played as well as that for us. Always tried to be fair but against the Terrors he was immense. I thought Michael Stewart was churlish no to give him MOTM just because the said pundit early on said he thought that Jakubiak essentially flattered to deceive. It’s clearly not in his nature to be humble. Shame.
  6. Last night was, apart from a paucity of Dark Blue goals, a five star performance. The first half domination was a real pleasure to watch with our midfield reigning imperially against an absent Dons midfield. Sylla, McCowan and Cameron with Tiffany were outstanding, and Curtis Main caused great difficulties in the Aberdeen defence. Time for him to score please. The defence, too, pretty much coped with the Dons’ attack- insipid as it often was, and I enjoyed the excellent punching out from McCracken. Daftie behind me shouting “catch it”! I’d like to see the same energy and sense of purpose instead of standing off the opponents when the Govan lads visit on Sunday.
  7. The Rovers lads at the top of the championship mentioning that Dylan Easton is being linked with us as a swap for Byrne, seemingly rejected by RRFC, or via a fee in January rather than getting him free in the summer at the end of contract. (Delighted by the way that Byrne shining for the Rovers. ) i for one would take Easton, although it would leave Tiffoney adrift in the selection stakes - how about a swap, Tiffoney for Easton?
  8. Why on earth would County bring back this complete and utter twit? I’ve nothing against the Staggies but this chap opens his mouth and there is a Tsunami of diarrhoea. Malky had old fashioned values …. regrettably but dearie me the feculent tirade from his gob would make a chap prefer that County go down instead of the Perth lads
  9. I hope you are right. And in addition we need some signings to put the ball in the net!
  10. Classy post from the Red Lichties regarding our new Physio Kevin Milne. https://www.arbroathfc.co.uk/thank-you-kevin-milne/
  11. Still buzzing after the emotional roller coaster of losing three goals and scoring three in the first half and then the more controlled organisation of the second half with a great fifth to seal it. Thanks boys. Two questions: a) how many teams have scored their goal of the season against us? At the least QP, Cove, Morton ….; b) what’s the prize money for winning the Championship? Looking forward to making a better fist of it next season than we did in 21/22.
  12. Thanks for your input. I hadn’t realised that you’d played at Hampden this season. Such a pity that the last game of the season - before playoffs - will be played at Ochilview then.
  13. If they do go up, their home ground is Lesser Hampden since they pocketed the SFA dosh and subsequently turned pro and relinquished the playing rights to Hampden. If your suggestion is correct that they won’t use Lesser Hampden for the top flight, there are plenty grounds around Glasgow to use.
  14. The journalism either internet or newspaper for anything outside the Premiership is: consistently limited in volume; often laced with lazy inaccurate “facts”, usually pish; and those articles cited above are examples. The BBC even manages to get the scores wrong, last night until about ten minutes before the end they had the Highland league score with Brechin losing, when they were winning. Scottish football journos are really sadly hopeless when they poke their heads below the Premiership floor.
  15. Can’t get to Dens tomorrow as I’m away. Does anyone know if this is on Dee TV in the U.K.? Thanks.
  16. Tickets bought for Saturday. I dont mind Arbroath at all and over the past few seasons they have been difficult to beat, and indeed scored four at Dens to win earlier this season. I’m hoping that the Dee overcome some bad memories that I have from watching them at Gayfield in the seventies: the first horror, although it was a brilliant goal, was Dundee legend Andy Penman score direct from a corner- one of very few times I’ve seen that; and secondly a stunning own goal from Jocky Scott- surely his only one. So let’s just have a first class winning no nonsense performance against a vastly improved and improving home side please.
  17. Must win tomorrow. Please lads, let’s have 90 minutes like the first half against Raith, but with enough goals to avoid the arse falling out like on Tuesday.
  18. Agreed. He’s not Premiership level for a struggling team. He’ll score a few goals, yes, but I’m pleased, because: a) he didn’t come to Dens and; b) a big rival lost their top scorer
  19. I thought the Dee had a good balance to the side today even with the swathe of changes made by Bowyer in the second half. Equally I liked that we looked like we wanted to win. it was a much changed side and yet it looked settled. Legzdins didn’t earn his keep today as the QP lads didn’t get near to testing him. Sweeney had plumber Murray on tap all day, the latter didn’t get any drip feed at all. Fisher and Kerr put in good performances keeping the crosses down and when Clampin came on as a left back, my goodness, a fast overlap and a goal! The midfield looked good, a combination of flair and brawn for most of the game and a fine debut for McGuire, Williamson was lively on his arriving on the pitch. Funnily enough I thought McMullan was having a howler until the subs came on and he suddenly transformed into the threat he can be with a great assist for a fine team goal for Jakubiak. A big shout out for Thomas at no9. He gave no peace to the QP defence and his replacement did the same. There will be s big cheer when Sheridan eventually scores. I was surprised at how ineffective QP were as they’ve been getting the results. A bad day at the office or maybe the Dee were just too good. Anyway I enjoyed the win, the performance and the players playing for their boss. Cheers lads ps Owen Coyle is an unmitigated grumpy deluded muppet.
