  1. To look at it from a positive note. I we are doing well against Cyprus can give him the last 15 minutes. Would definitely have him involved in the squad. Can only be a positive thing to try and integrate someone who looks to have massive potential as early as possible.
  2. This. I’m not saying the squad is great by an stretch, however if we do get pumped, I doubt the likes of Barry McKay would drastically change it. Now that’s not to say I’m not a fan of say McKay and that I wouldn’t be for the squad getting freshened up a wee bit but I get Clarkes selection. Defence however is a massive concern. Based on Clarkes previous line ups etc I’d go- Gordon, Patterson, Hendry, Hanley, Tierney, Hickey, McGregor, McTominay, McGinn, Dykes, Adams. I’d imagine the line up will be very like this with Gilmour, Christie, Armstrong, Jack and Fraser contenders to be involved.
  3. Looking forward to this tomorrow. Driving through after work, any Kelty fans able to advise where is best to park?
  4. Cyprus, absolutely wid.
  5. Whoever gets the job I’d like it to be someone who has had no prior link to the club. A fresh start is needed.
  6. If I remember correctly Iwelumo had started the season very well with Wolves who were top of the championship and Boyd was in and out of the Rangers team, being left on the bench regularly for the bigger games. It’s completely understandable why Burley opted for Iwelumo. Then as we know Boys refuses to play, makes his comeback as a substitute against the Czechs. Starts again Liechtenstein and plays a stinker, gets subbed after an hour or so and never plays for Scotland again. Scored a few goals against a few diddy nations and far from the worst player to play for Scotland but was still nowhere near good enough to have had a longer Scotland career.
  7. Something like the recent Croatia team would be a realistic dream IMO (not suggesting we will get to a World Cup final) especially if more players keep moving abroad. Just say in the next 5 years or so you had Tierney at Arsenal, Gilmour at Chelsea, Hickey and Hepburn at Bayern. Then perhaps a core of players playing at random clubs such as Everton, Hoffenheim, Fiorentina etc. Always felt sticking to the UK is something that has held the home nations back.
  8. He works as a community police officer Monday-Friday so work commitments shouldn’t get in the way. The thing I liked about Irons during his first time at the club was he understood the types of players needed to be successful. His recruitment was excellent in his first spell so hopefully it will be this time around as our recruitment has been poor for a couple of seasons now.
  9. Right back? Get him called up.
  10. Key players signed up and deadwood moved on. Pleasing stuff. Only players not mentioned are Duthie and Scoop, would assume both have been offered deals. We have a decent spine of a team and hopefully Colin can add more quality to it and we can challenge for the title next year.
  11. While finishing 9th I’ve enjoyed this season. Mainly due to bodying Falkirk in the cup and then getting a draw with Aberdeen.
  12. Enjoyable as always. For Scottish Football Coverage at 11 on a Friday I can’t complain. I coach at Stenhousemuir and seen them filming the goalkeeper segment from last night and was wondering what the hell was going on when I was down. Also that Patrick song was shite and made me cringe yet it’s stuck in my head and I’ve watched the video of it in YouTube several times.
  13. Think we need to win 3/5 minimum to have any chance. Been a few times now this season I’ve thought that’s it we’re done and then it looks optimistic again.

    The Walking Dead

Personally enjoyed the episode, although at times it feels like I’m the only one who still likes the show. The time jump will be interesting, obviously it’s a great opportunity to start fresh if you will. I’m a bit concerned about all the talks of spin offs. Granted the Walking Dead is a cash cow they are going to continue to milk but I would rather the main show is finished before they go crazy with them. Although just seeen Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride have signed new deals which basically means they can appear in The Walking Dead, Spin offs or get paid for doing nothing so they won’t be going anywhere so I expect it to go in for another few seasons.
  15. Unsure what to make of this. We’re doing exactly how I expected us to do this season. On the other hand some of the performances have been shocking. Saturday for example, awful all game then he waits till 5 minutes to go before making a triple substitution.
  16. Not seen him play so can’t say whether he deserves a call up or not. From what I’ve read it sounds like he’s doing well so I would hope McLeish is keeping tabs on him. Although I don’t think he’s ever heard of Verona.
  17. Stenny vs QotS. What a boring draw. I’m pretty sure both sets of fans feel the same way.
  18. What a load of shite. People I’ve spoken to around the club have said that Mick has been offered terms and is yet to respond, if what Moonglum is reporting is true then surely Mick would have been released? As far as I’m aware the players have an automatic contract extension in the event of us making the playoffs. If I’m being really wide the players spoke to Bomber on the Thursday and not the Tuesday. Recruitment has been difficult but our budget is based on finishing bottom, so we avoid ending up in the same position we were in a couple of years back. It was always going to be a difficult season but recruitment so far has been decent.
  19. Had a look at the booze when I was in Asda earlier and with the exception of Captain Morgan’s which has went up £1.50 everything I drink is the same so not bothered too much at the moment. My concern is I fully expect the minimum price of 50p to increase in the coming years. From what I looked at the most notable price increase was your larger boxes of beer and cider, such as a 24 pack of Budweiser is now £16 something where it used to be £12.
  20. Pretty much agree with this. I would keep Chris Smith and Alan Cook, whilst they haven’t shown the form they are capable of I still think they are worth keeping. I wouldn’t be against Colin McMenamin staying on, on the basis he isn’t the go to sub when we are getting beat. The rest can go. Marsh is a liability, Ferns not good enough, Longworth has been poor. I actually think we have a decent spine but losing Paton will be a blow, don’t want to even think about losing McGuigan. If we can get the back 4, Smith, Ferry, Cook and McGuigan signed up I’d be happy with that to start with. Then think we need some quality out wide, another striker so we’re not completely relying on McGuigan and then somehow attempt to replace Paton.

    The Walking Dead

After a slow start to the season the past few episodes have been fantastic. Loved Jared’s death last night.
  22. I think they would vote against it but it’s based off nothing more than I’ve not spoke to a Stenny fan who is in favour of the idea.
  23. Stenhousemuir statement on the matter "The Club is aware of the current media speculation regarding the introduction of SPFL Premiership Colt Teams into the professional league set-up. At present, there is no formal proposal from the SPFL for clubs to consider. What has happened, is that a proposal for a pilot project has been put forward by Rangers and Celtic football clubs. This is being discussed at league level by the SPFL Competitions Working Group. If it is thought there is merit in looking at the proposals in further detail, it would be put to consideration and vote by all 42 clubs within the SPFL. Representatives of Rangers and Celtic are currently meeting with clubs in League 2 to present details of their pilot proposals. A number of Directors at Stenhousemuir met with a representative from Rangers and received the presentation. No formal discussions have taken place within the club on the proposals as yet. In order to take this forward, the club will be working with the SFC Supporters Trust to ensure that the views of fans can be put forward and taken into account prior to the Board formulating the club's view. There will no doubt be arguments both for and against any proposals to enter colt teams in the SPFL setup. It is important to hear both sides of the argument, and make an informed decision that is the right thing for Stenhousemuir Football Club, the League, and the future development of Scottish football." -ENDS-
  24. Well that's 5/6 of what Neilly posted correct, so hopefully Chris Smith completes the set. Great to see us getting some good business done early on.
  25. My parents met a couple on holiday once who didn't speak to use for the first few days as they thought we were German. Been mistaken for German a few times. Also last year on holiday some Russian guy, thick Russian accent, came over to me and asked if I could go and confirm to his son, born and raised in Brooklyn, that I spoke English. Should have seen the look of shock on his face. Still amuses me that it was the Russian that knew I was speaking English.
