  1. If you honestly think that Livingston are a club similar in size to Falkirk just find out how many of their fans were there on Sunday.
  2. Of course it`s lies. The only possible penalty could have been for `bringing the game into disrepute`. How could this announcement possibly come under that? The Falkirk Chairman really is an apologist and an apology is`nt he?
  3. Not having a go at you but seriously, in what way was the announcement actionable. In what circumstances could the SFA have fined Falkirk for this announcement?
  4. Half time at Firhill for the Falkirk game our announcer stated `Peterhead. 2 Sevco 5088. 2. A laugh, a giggle and that was pretty much it. At least the Falkirk lad can cite precedence.
  5. Daft one. I`ve kept a bit in my Betfair acc for a while and to be honest have never really grasped what`s going on with them. I only use it for singles and doubles as the odds can be slightly better than the rest of the online bookies. I quite fancy the Pars on Saturday ( simply because of years of disappointment there ) and was thinking about a wee single to make up for our totally undeserved loss. The general price for the home win is 23/20 yet Betfair offer it at 1/3.............what is going on? Am I missing something?
  6. Sorry, one last post..........do you have any conception of just how boring you are?
  7. Well this thread is now officially dead to me. Killed by pedants and point scorers. Off the the SFL1 forum. F*ck the Self Preservation League.
  8. Sorry but it`s been shown in the past (Gretna and Livvy) that the bottom leagues in Scotland can be won with not a lot of cash investment. The Sevco team that beat Albion Rovers at the weekend would walk the SPL3 and if the stories coming out of Greyskull of an average wage of £4 - £5k are in any way credible then they`ll still be able to attract SPL standard players. The only question is if they are permitted to start the first game.
  9. Serious questions (I`ll play ball even if I think you`re trolling)...................... Would the SPL prefer Sevco in the league in three years time or no Sevco at all? What would be the best option for the business model? What possibly makes you think the SPL would let Sevco die?
  10. Spot on. Problem is that we have went from calling the shots to having no bargaining position and for what? No tangible return whatsoever. Nothing. It`s done and dusted and even if they change the voting system to 8 - 4 then there`s little or no chance of league reconstruction in the forseeable future. All these claims by Gilmour and his pals about the need for a bigger top league is already something that won`t be talked about. Hey, the Self Preservation league is merely doing what it does best.
  11. Just confirming that the offer whilst paltry, was`nt entirely hot air and non existent. For what it`s worth though, (and I said this on the day), if the offer had been firmed to include the play off place and the definite expansion of the top league to 16 teams then I`d have been upset if Beattie had`nt voted YES. It was only the working party and committee clauses that made me contact the club to demand a NO vote.
  12. So tell me, when you personally examined the document, there were no applicable `get out` clauses, no codicils relating to annual income streams and no mention of a sliding scale of payment. Not for a second doubting you, it`s just that from my experience it`s easier to work on the basis that the SPL lie as a default position.
  13. Empty promises and not air apart from the immediate introduction of a play off place for the league runner up. Might not be enough, might even be `risible` but it`s certainly better than anything on the table at the moment.
  14. In what way was it risible. Are you suggesting that the SPL Chairmen are`nt the most self serving duplicitous collective in sport who would be willing to go to almost any length to protect their interests. Are you suggesting that the SFL experts (?) could`nt possibly have overlooked some detail in the fine print. I`ll believe the SPL will meet their FULL contractual obligation when the cheque arrives at Firhill.
  15. Come again with what? It may have been badly worded on my part but it`s perfectly clear that there can only be one reason for there being a single relegation place from a twelve team league. To protect the lower order of that league . Until Sevco make the dizzying heights of SFL1 that will remain the case.
  16. Sorry, just too many `mays` in there for me to take much solace. The one `may` you don`t mention is a reduction in our SPL funding because unlike yourselves, I fully expect attempts at renegotiation of the deal. In one aspect though you are quite correct. It is more than likely that we will play Sevco at some time in the future because we`ll probably still be in the SFL1 when they get there (my natural optimism aside). For reasons of Self Preservation it has been made extremely difficult to escape from SFL1 in order to protect the lower life forms in the SPL. Anyone else picture the first SPL meeting of the new reality. " OK, we`re gonna change the voting system to 9 - 3 " Eleven hands go up................passed. " OK, we`re gonna share out the TV and sponsorship money more fairly" Eleven hands go up......................passed " OK, we`re gonna introduce a play off with the SFL1 for a second promotion/ relegation spot"...................mumbles of hard economic times, 0 votes...........not passed That`s the reality of the situation and that`s how it will remain until Sevco manage to scrape and bribe their way into SFL1. At that point play offs will suddenly be needed to ensure `fairness` and to uphold `sporting integrity`.
  17. OK, give me a scenario where PTFC will profit financially in the coming season from recent developments.
  18. So Doncaster has confirmed what we knew all along. Take the offer or it`s withdrawn..................sorry, planned for later date. The reality of the situation is that the Self Preservation league will now revert to type. The only difference for us uber diddies is that we`ll end up with less money than in previous years. Don`t get me wrong. I would`nt have had things turn out any differently, but it`s still a bit of a downer to realise how quickly the status quo has been restored. We all know that despite the weasel words, the only way the SFL1 will get a second play off spot is when Sevco manage two promotions. So the word from the big table is "thanks for all the help guys, now piss off."
  19. The war officially ended at 1456 hrs on Monday 16 July when the vote to elect team 12 was concluded by the SPL Chairmen. It seems fair to say that the forces of darkness (well, half of them anyway) have been soundly defeated and that good has triumphed in the land. When do the War Crimes trials begin? When are the guilty dragged before the courts of justice? Proud to be a diddy. Taken the rest of the day off work and off to the pub (a former Sevco bastion) to drink fine ales and look smug. PTFC....Glasgow`s oldest professional club.
  20. Have to agree. This `let`s form a lynch mob` theme is more than a bit tiresome (and I`m not just saying that because Thistle are no longer suspect). It`s the teams we support not the Chairmen or boards. Most of our clubs are well over a hundred years old and have had countless numbers of board members over the course of their histories. Some good, some bad, some idiotic but they`ve all come and gone. When you think of the great times and disasters you don`t try to recall who the board members were on that day, you think of your players, your mates, the pubs, the celebrations, the greetin...........but never the Chairman. Anyway, I don`t care who voted for who. I am impressed by Clyde and Raith simply because they`ve been the most eloquent but to think any less of Hamilton or QOS or whosoever as football teams because their Chairman made an impossible decision is madness and is totally unworthy of the consensus achieved by the diddy teams. It demeans each and every one of us. We diddies took on the establishment and they`re media and won. The supporters of all diddy team`s deserve to share the credit and enjoy the celebrations.
  21. Disagree entirely. These guys may be making these noises and they may even believe that their business model is collapsing but even chick Young accepts the fact that the fans will not tolerate the admission of sevco into any sort of SPL. Unless they have lost the plot entirely I can only think that this scaremongering is because some players are going to be called in for a wee chat about the realities of life and the problems with existing contracts. This is almost the end of the poker game in which the last two players has now moved on to Teams v Playing Staff. The important stuff though is over.
