  1. Oliver deserves his start over Nesbitt who has been poor for weeks. He seems absolutely determined to give Mackie game time, which like… fine, whatever floats your boat. We all think McGinn shouldn’t really be starting games, but he actually did fine against Annan so will reserve judgment. Mon the Bairns.
  2. Lots of clowns on Sportsound, but Bonnar is the worst, man. Doesn’t know any of the oppositions names - “the eh, the… St Johnstone striker there”. McLeod intervenes, almost embarrassed, to help him out. Truly cringeworthy stuff. Would be amateurish if he was doing it voluntarily, but he’s getting paid for this ffs.
  3. Differing expectations for how the season pans out. I think, as a newly promoted side, you have to say that the absolute bare minimum is to avoid all the hard work being undone and going straight back down again. Some might think that is unnecessarily negative. But the Championship in particular is ridiculously tight - currently there are only 6 points between 4th and 9th. You might think you're doing okay, but a run of three or four bad results and you can get sucked right back into it. Consolidating your place in the division has to be the base aim. Going on from that, for me, anywhere around mid-table would be considered a decent season, while play-offs would be seen as very good for the first season back. I think next season has to be about steadying ship in the Championship, before the following season, looking to progress and push for promotion either through the play-offs or challenging for the title, dependant on who is in the league, of course. If we end up doing the double bounce next season, then yeah, ignore all of this
  4. Jim Goodwin is a total diddy, while in a village full of idiots, Tony Watt would be the village idiot. Up ye.
  5. Picturing Andy Graham giving his Alloa squad a teamtalk on May 4th, needing to win secure 3rd spot, leading with "Lads, on March 12th on Pie and Bovril, weebammybairn1876 thought it would be such a walk over that Falkirk might sub keepers at half-time! Let's show them!"
  6. Subbing goalkeepers is a riddy and I hate it. Playing them in exactly 18 games each seems a fair shout.
  7. I know this is the most cliched thought ever and is posted on every single one of these threads, but Falkirk fans expecting a victory, while even extending their sympathies to disillusioned Queens fans who fear a humping, means that this is going to end up 1-0 QOTS, isn't it?
  8. We have deserved every single bit of ribbing we’ve had on here over the last few years and I’ll definitely be indulging in handing it back out when the time allows. Such is being a football fan.
  9. Ethan Ross is a weird one in that I thought he looked a really good signing at the time and he obviously came in when Miller was injured. I do like how direct he is, but I think you’d be hard pushed to argue he’s shown enough to be kept on. I imagine McGlynn might have had different thoughts if Morrison had been away. Ross is one I would put down as relatively happy to keep if he isn’t on big wages, but wouldn’t be gutted if he left either.
  10. Confirming what we all knew - that they were just being awkward the first time to try and gain some kind of advantage or piss us off (who knows what or why), only for it to backfire completely Absolute uber-diddies who I hope go the same way as Clyde. Stay doon. Edit to add: Unless, and only unless, they come up against Dunfermline in a potential play-off, in which case, mon the Accies x
  11. Maybe a silly question, but would we be due a development fee (even a tiny one) for Finn if we’ve offered him a contract and he chooses to go elsewhere?
  12. This is my idea of a line-up going into next season too, bar Yeats at right back if he stays or the new boy, and Hendo at CM. It’s pretty good going, a core of 7-8 starters. The areas you’ve identified, aye, we’ll need better IMO.
  13. We had this discussion a couple of years ago when Kenny Miller was our interim manager. We were absolutely honking, yet any opportunity to go on some form of media and salivate about Rangers, Miller would be there. I thought this was pretty bad form, others weren’t bothered, saying people can do what they want with their spare time. But Bartley is your full-time manager. It’s obviously not my place to tell Queens fans how to think, but going on the TV 24 hours after his full-time side have been dragged into a League One relegation scrap to offer his insight into a Hibs Rangers game doesn’t seem a great look to me.
  14. I don’t think he will get it, but Donaldson is in with a shout for me. Even in the League Cup against Peterhead, he had a couple of really shaky moments where there looked a bit of a hangover from last season and the crowd were getting on his back. However, once he and Tom Lang got used to each other and built up their partnership, he’s been an absolute colossus. All while captaining the team and likely dealing the mental scars that come with playing with Brad McKay. No mean feat.
  15. Not even being wide, how on earth has Bartley not been sacked this season? For Queens to potentially be 4 points off a relegation play-off to League Two is criminal.
  16. This thread contains well over a decade of discussion around Falkirk Football Club; most of the Pressley era, Farid kissing the coin, Challenge Cup Winners, three Scottish Cup semis, a Scottish Cup final, Houstie winding up all the right folk while building a beautiful 2015/16 side (who I still sometimes dream of); Bob McHugh's ridiculous run of last minute goals, cranes, hot tubs, trucks, numerous play-off campaigns, the buzz of the Hartley summer and the consequent collapse and relegation, Covid, Gary Holt getting trebucheted, the infamous Q&A, the Sheerin, Rennie and Griffiths banter months, fan ownership finally being secured and getting ourselves on a decent footing and finally, every detail of the glory of potentially one of the greatest seasons in the clubs recent history. And many, many more too. All under one roof. An institution. Long live The Falkirk FC Thread.
  17. I personally think we will need a striker who fits the MacIver mould but is far more clinical. I know every club wants that but being in the Championship we’ll be a much more attractive option. Assuming Yeats stays, a no.10 and a GK would be important for me. You could even sign another first team quality RB if you wanted to free Yeats up to compete in the middle with McGinn leaving.
  18. Scott Harrison being completely outpaced by a mid 30’s Stephen Dobbie was proper if you don’t laugh you’ll cry material. Some banter tbf
  19. I think, of the current 11, 7-8 of them are capable of making the step up while the rest are squad player quality. 3-4 first team signings on promotion seems standard fare.
